What people don't realize is; we don't search for partners based on how similar they are to our parents, we search for partners based on how similar they are to us. However, our parents play a big role in our own behaviour, so we tend to find people who are as like minded as ourselves, but because we are also like our parents, they are like minded to our parents as well. Now, some people are incapable of seeing past gender, race, and overall physical appearance. It's the reason, say, a white person would feel sad about a little white girl being harmed, but don't feel the same sympathy for a little black girl in the same situation. For some young women, their mother could embody so many traits and characteristics you would absolutely want in a male partner; but because she's a woman and you're looking for a man, some people can't connect two and two. They need a man specifically to show those traits, otherwise they can't apply those traits to men or aren't sure if that's how men should behave. Super sheeple mindset, but you know. That's how most people are, regardless of gender.
