This is the episode with the best line the show has ever produced. "Why are you working this so hard? Did he finally go after some one that matters?" And the worst part is that, yes, that is why.

And the irony is he would have gotten away with it if a random woman hadn't gone out partying and fallen in love with the wrong man. Something that had nothing to do with him and completely out of his control. Funny how life works sometimes.

There was a similar story in the main Law & Order. That was one where a woman was tortured and survived. They found a serial killer and had to trick him into confessing into one of the actual murders he committed to avoid the death penalty. One of Abbie Carmichael’s cases.

I like this episode because it shows that not only can one unrelated murder blow a serial case wide open, but that cops can be wrong at first (even when they are also right)

This is imho SVU's best episode. They rarely if ever let police be the villians to this degree and it was gross how much they resisted Munch when he told them the obvious..

Original L&O knew when it ran its course and was time to bow out gracefully. SVU got progressively worse the longer it went on and it's just a shameless cash cow these days.

Considering the sheer number of cops on this show who are either incompetent, apathetic, corrupt, evil, unprofessional, biased, or unstable, it's a wonder anyone refers to this show as "copaganda." I've never opened a book about laws or proper procedures and even I know half of the stuff in this show is ridiculous.

The plots are reviewed by officers for approval, everything about the show is constructed to make the system of policing look like a shining beacon. Every bad cop is just one bad cop, the system is made to seem uncorruptable

This is interesting bit I must say it upsets me that Stabler is like why don't you just take credit for this one too... like is the point not to catch the actual killer. he is just trying to convict anyone of the killing and allowing the actual killer to get away.... anyone else have a problem with that

he had a reason in his mind for what he did. his mom was a prostitute who had him stay outside starving in the weather such as extreme cold and rain when she had a john. so he viewed prostitutes as subhuman due to his pos mom.

I suspected the issue was that he reached for his gun too quickly, which means they could not be sure he wouldn’t turn it in them. I believe the correct way to go about it would have been to tell them something like “I have one on my waist”, lift his hands up and let them retrieve it themselves.
