One thing many miss is that baelor was wearing his sons armour, and since armourvis fitted specifically for one armour the bad fit might have contributed to his death

@@booksandtropes Ok, I think it works now. I guess RU-vid flagged my comment as spam but I changed the formation and now it’s fine. :D Wall of text will be delayed until tomorrow I already stayed awake to long to fix this xD.

@@booksandtropes There just aren't enough words to describe how much I love the Dunk and Egg novellas. Especially the first story the Hedge Knight is one of the well rounded stories I have ever read. George has really outdone himself by quite a bit. Just the themes that are addressed and how George breaks with fantasy as well as societal stereotypes is just impressive. I agree with you that the Hedge Night is the best story of the three. The way it narratively shows what it means to be a true knight is just perfect. Dunk is one of the most lowly people in the world of Westereos, and if we're honest, not even a knight, and of all people he protects the innocent from a prince, while at the same time the Kingsguard, the supposed elite of chivalry, stands by and does nothing. The moment when Dunk asks the audience," Are there no true knights among you?" is just such a perfect moment that sums up the whole theme of the story. I got goosebumps just writing that sentence down. Also, the dialogue between Maekar and Dunk was also so revealing again, as I also believe like you that it was indeed an accident which puts Maekar in a completely different light again. Dunk and Egg are both also fantastic characters who can make each other better people through their completely different backgrounds. The other characters were all really unique and special in their own right. I love the politics in ASOIAF and therefore enjoyed the second story also very much. Again, the themes are very strongly realized. For one, the struggle of Rohanne to assert herself in a male-dominated world and to see how meaningless the wars of the great lords are and that there is rarely a good and bad side. Seeing that Eustace is a supporter of the Blackfyres really surprised Egg as well as me and yet you can understand how it came about. We have only seen in the Briennes chapters how the wars affect the small folk and the story did well to deepen that here again. The themes of the third story are again very strong. On the one hand how prophecies are always misinterpreted, which is also an important pattern in ASOIAF, but also the concept of a bloodline is total bullshit. Daemon has a claim on the throne only because of his father, but he never proved to be worthy. He hasn't done any great exploits, doesn't have a large group of supporters, and has to cheat in the tournament to have a chance, while Glendon, who claims to be Fireball's son, is belittled by everyone. Still, he manages to defeat Daemon despite being tortured for an eternity just before. Glendon is pretty likely not Fireball's son, which is irrelavant because he becomes so through his actions, while Daemon owes it all to his fathers status but fails to become worthy of him through his actions. I could write entire essays on these three stories, but I don't want to bore you too much with my word vomit. :D Did you anticipate all the twists? I was very surprised by Eggs' origin, Baelor's death and also Eustace's past. :D And how did you manage not to mention "clout in the ear" once? I died when Dunk whispered that to Egg once xD Now that you've read everything from the ASOIAF universe, do you want to read some of George's other works? I can really recommend his horror stories to you. I've recommended Sandkings before, but you might really enjoy his vampire horror story Fevre Dream as well. :D PS. Fuck the red-apple Fossoways

@@Flammewar Eustace's past was a surprise to me :) but I knew who Egg was before starting the series- if I wasn't made aware then I have no doubt it would have been a surprise. And I've looked at the Targaryen family tree to carefully to realize that Baelor was not going to become king :( lol I think I made a reference to being knocked upside the ear or something. Dunk and Egg bickering is the best! Fever dream is high on my list, I love vampires :) I also found what I think is a childrens story The Ice Dragon written by him :)

@@booksandtropes (Ok, last try and then I give up. Sorry for all the notifications.) I just use this comment section for more fun facts :D Dunk is for sure not a real knight but this also means that Dunk-Egg-Barristan-Dayne-Jamie are all no real knights. George hadn’t planned the Blackfyre rebellion when he was writing the Hedge Knight. That is why there is no mention of it although almost everyone fought in it. Daemon is heavily implied to be gay and that is probably the reason why Bittersteel and the Golden Company didn‘t support his claim. Maynard Plumm is most definitely Bloodraven who changed his appearance with a glamour. There is comic adaptation out there for all three novellas. I hope it is ok to post links otherwise I’ll edit it out but here is a summary of all future Dunk and Egg stories and they are 🔥 (Ok, RU-vid doesn’t like links. If someone is interested then I can send you the link.) Sorry for being a lore snob but Bloodraven isn’t a Blackfyre. He is a half brother of Daemon but his mother is a Blackwood. That’s is also one of the reasons why he hates Bittersteel so much who is a Bracken. :D

I like the effects of Dunk not being a knight would have on those later on. It plays well with the themes of these noble people claims being based on a lie. And while this is likely the case I can't see Dunk knighting someone while he wasn't a knight. So I'd assume he told Egg at some point and Egg be like "I'm a prince/king, I'll have you knighted" :) Also feel free to be correct me on any lore, the details and family relations are important for ASOIAF. but wasn't Bloodraven the son of the king who legitimized everyone? I know Bloodraven didn't use Blackfyre as his name but he was an illegitimate child of a Targaryen king (hence essentially a blackfyre). but Bloodraven uses name Rivers due to being born in the riverlands/his mother being from the riverlands. However in terms of which side he fought with it was interesting he chose to stand with the loyalist rather then side with the other blackfyre's because if he was named based on his father thats what he would be
