You trivialize your own abuse. Most of the time yall will lie to police about abuse that actually did occur and deny that it occurred to protect your boyfriends, or you will make false claims of abuse to get your boyfriends locked up when angry at them. Other people act more concerned about your welfare than you do yourselves. Why is is it that your family members have to seek to press charges on your behalf like the young girl in this case? My stepdaughter was in a relationship with an abusive man for over a year she would confide in family about him hitting her, even had a diary with instructions on how to not anger him (which apparently didn't work). The family implored her to leave him and she would get defensive about it, try to deflect by claiming other people's verbal quarrels were the same as her domestic assaults by her boyfriend. She then MARRIED him and moved to a different state where she had no family. All to get beat even worse so that MPs had to come and arrest him. She ended up moving back home with her mom, telling her older sister "why didn't you tie me up and make me nor be with him?" It's usually the VICTIMS of DV that minimize the crime and try to paint it out as "normal" to justify continuing the toxic relationship. I work in law enforcement. I've lost count of how many times we've arrested a man (or woman) for domestic violence and the woman gets angry at police saying "I only wanted you to talk to him or make him leave for a few hours, not ARREST HIM!" Then go and post his BAIL. Or get mad at us because we submit a protective order on her behalf that forbids him from coming to the house for 2 months. But you go ahead and keep lying about how DV victims aren't taken seriously 😏
