What happens if your school has done badly in previous years but then you have had a change of headteacher/head of sixth form half way through i.e. when I was in Year 12?

Contextual factors like that should all be taken into consideration. Must be so hard for you all with the unpredictability of it. Really hope you get awarded the grades you feel you deserve!

Resitting is not a problem. I’m more concerned about wether I can sit the exams in time for Sixth form as I need a 7 to do A level maths. Why does no one talk about this issue?

Not really, i got a grade 6 in gcse and im doing a level maths 😎 someone got a grade 5 and got an A for a level maths. Lower the grade or even higher the grade, you still need to revise.

The frustration when all your predicted grades are 4 is unreal! A grade less than that could change everything 😫

How do i even come up with a contingency plan when you spent the year prepping for admission tests and interviews to get ‘that oxford offer’ I’ve had as my driving force for the last year despite various things that have happened at home. And now It all coming down to a statistical model

I know it seems so unfair, particularly if you have an offer from somewhere like Oxford where you have had to go through such a long application process. Both your school and Oxford think you are capable of reaching those grades though or you wouldn’t have been offered a place, so hopefully the odds are in your favour! Wishing you the best of luck 😊

Hello. I am in a school that was to take its first ever gcse exams THIS YEAR. I am in a very new school.And i heard they will look at prior attainment..!!! And IS THAT FAIR? CUZ WE NEVER DID GCSE IN OUR SCHOOOOOOL. i was supposed to do it this year, our first ever gcse as a school. So how will they judge us??? We never had previous students take gcse in the past. And my second question is: I did kinda bad in SATs...and now im doing VERY GOOD. will that downgrade my gcse results? Hope u stay well and safe...could u reply as soon as possible? >.

That must be so stressful for you, cannot imagine the wait to find out 🙈Factors like these will be taken into consideration. You shouldn’t be disadvantaged because your school hasn’t done GCSEs before. Your progress will also be noted and your predicted grade won’t just be based on one set of exams, it will be homework, class work, mocks, coursework etc. Wishing you the best of luck!

If you get a 9 in your mock can the teachers give that as a predicted grade can 9’s not be issued?

What does prior attainment mean.Also will they look at year 10 and year 9 mocks

That means what grades other students achieved in previous years. They will build a general picture of you as a student throughout your time at school so will use all previous grades etc as evidence but also your most recent mocks! They do know that lots of students don’t do as well in mocks as the real exams. Hope that helps!

I'm panicking right now as in these my most recent mocks I didn't do too well I got a 2 in maths 4 in English and 2 in science do you think they will use this mock mainly?

I completely understand, I’d have been so sad if my mocks were being used. Not just your mocks will be used, your class work, home work, course work etc will all be taken into consideration when deciding a predicted grade. Wishing you the best of luck!

Predicted grades are taken into consideration but so teachers don’t just predict everyone really high grades, they’ve also got a system where they have to rank pupils for each subject and grades are also compared to previous year group results etc. Must be so stressful for you all 🙈

I really hope not! It seems a little unclear at the moment but hopefully if you are really unhappy with a grade the school will cover the exam in autumn. It would seem so unfair for pupils/families to have to cover it
