You know what? I am genuinely, breathtakingly impressed by this and the other videos in this series, and am glad indeed that you're up and running. We need more storytellers around here, and definitely more world-makers, so it's a grand thing that your worlds are proving themselves so nicely.
wait a minute. a future from broken pots? lady did your legend says "predictions about babies = bad"? great video, by the way, i like how elush vids have orange color palete ans serksi have blue :)
I asked last video what designs would be on Elush pottery - I'm so glad I know now! This makes more sense than what I would have envisioned. Love the videos!
Very cool video! I have a question though: you said pregnancies are announced as early as possible to eschew any possibility that the child might be illegitimate. What happens in the event of a miscarriage? Is it seen as just a simple tragedy or are there superstitions about miscarriages too? Again, great video! I look forward to seeing more!
Pots break all the time in the fire, even when nothing's at fault, and the Elush have no idea why. Even if you're very careful and do everything right. It happens, and it's a tragedy, but it's mostly just chance that decides, and nobody can be blamed for it. So the Elush apply that to pregnancy and miscarriages too - there are some things a person definitely shouldn't do, like let their nan seyok break, or put liquid in it, or lie on their front, or go into a body of water (the child might try to swim out). So if any of those happen... well, don't do them next time. And sometimes two clays just don't mix well - try again with a different father. You can do everything right and still have things go wrong, in both pottery and pregnancy. That's just fate, and that's what many people believe. But because houses are quite socially isolated, there's no proof that someone did everything right unless you're part of their house... so while in theory very few people should be blamed, it's common for people who haven't had miscarriages, or who are worried about having one, to privately blame people who have. It's a way to soothe anxiety - if they did something wrong, and I'm doing everything right, it can't possibly happen to me... So there are two narratives people pick between depending on what they want to believe, and how much experience they have in the world. Thank you - this was an interesting question!
Hey, the algorithm fed me your video and I really enjoyed it! Im guessing theres more about the Elush on your channel but I like what I see just from this little tidbit
