South west coast of England continued.
We visit Hartland Point Lighthouse, which is another one closed to the public.
Then visit the ruins of a long demolished Lighthouse, Bideford Bar or Braunton Sands, it is known by both names.
The final visit is to Bull Point Lighthouse, which again isn't open to visitors.
But you can rent the ex Keepers cottages here at the following:
ruralretreats.co.uk/lighthouse-cottages
phone: 01386701177
The following may also be useful:
Two books that may be of further use are: The British Lighthouse Trail, by Sarah Kerr and Lighthouse Accommodation, Britain & Worldwide by Joy Tubby
Other contacts:
The Association of Lighthouse Keepers (ALK)

A sad footnote already mentioned in the video.
Hartland Point lens was stolen whilst in storage, so far it has not been found,
feared lost forever.

Another classic. Fab sunset and night filming. I can't get enough of the interviews. Hearing from keepers of old - tales like no other. Hopefully, long after they are all gone their voices will still be heard, a great tribute to people who've done so much. 😊😊

Excellent video and production. The loss of the lense, it's rarity, the skill in its manufacture, truly tragic.

Loving this series Peter thank you 👏 unusual to see the engine room in that light blue colour it did look nice . Just back from a week at Pendeen lighthouse managed to get some good film of the lens at night and capture the beams before it’s ripped out next month . God knows what will happen to the lens hope it finds a museum and not scrapped

Thank you very much. Glad you got some footage of the lens, I doubt it will get scrapped, but no idea where it will end up, if only we had a Lighthouse Museum like the Northern Lighthouses do. cheers and stay safe.

Absolutely fascinating! And as always, it's so sad that this is a world that doesn't exist any more. So sad about the lens as well - people nowadays are so destructive, anything they find they just have to steal and destroy! If anyone ever finds out how to timetravel back to the past, please let me know - I'm literally sick of the modern era and its insanity, destruction, lies, corruption, ugliness and turning everything upside down (bad is now good, good is now bad, up is down, down is up etc etc etc)!

@LittleKitty22: We have always had feckless youth, yobs you just don't expect a small seaside village of Ilfracombe to have them.

@@jane1975 True, but until fairly recently they didn't go round stealing lighthouse lenses or stabbing each other the way they do now. It's everything really that's so upsetting about modern times - everything is upside down, bad is good and good is bad, men are women and vice versa, it's total insanity on a scale never seen before in the history of mankind. Just a few decades ago a murder was a rare occurrence, now we read "last night's stabbings" and the count is usually 7 or 8 for Birmingham, more for London. Criminals and illegal immigrants get everything they wish for but decent folk get punished at every opportunity, victims of crime get arrested, adults have to dance to the tune of children, doctors are no longer healers but drug pushers and murderers, teachers are extremely unstable creatures that just a few decades ago would have gotten locked up for the protection of the public and given a nice rubber room (padded cell). Obesity is promoted but being slim and healthy is the worst thing a person can be now - I've lost count how many times I've been shouted at by doctors - and worse - because I'm slim. One cried out in utter disbelief "but you are not obese" as if he had never seen anything like it before. I'm not even old, I dread to think what my grandma would make of such strange times... some days I can only look around and think "I don't believe what I'm seeing". Talking of lighthouses - Trinity House is now busy replacing lighthouse lightbulbs with "energy efficient bulbs". The proper bulbs were 1500 Watt, the new ones are 200 Watt. The light beam can't be seen any more and folks fear ships will crash into shores again the way they did before the invention of lighthouses. Apparently that's progress... As I said: sometimes I just don't believe what I'm seeing!

Thank you, much appreciated. I really hope they find the lens intact, but I very much doubt it. There are a lot of soulless people out there, unfortunately, some make it to Management Ha. Cheers and stay safe.

I appreciate that I maybe draconian in my beliefs, but until such are punished, to the point of making it physically uncomfortable to the criminals, we will will always lose such valuables because they get away with it. I will say no more. Thank you as always Peter for exemplary output.

Thank you, some people seem devoid of souls I guess. The best Kama would be if they were stuck out to sea on a boat in a very bad storm at night, with no idea where they were . If only that Lighthouse marking that dangerous reef still had a lens! Stay safe.
