A Little 500 Rider's Mindset: Crashes

Why aren’t the riding fixed? Single makes no sense

you can cruise with single and it allows for back pedal braking. Not sure why, but I'm guessing that? @@OliverPhillips-h5p

Single speed lets you coast and use actual brakes, it's way safer for pack riding. @@OliverPhillips-h5p

It is real. It's an event held every spring at Indiana University. Everybody rides the same 1 speed bike with coaster brakes. They're allowed to change the seat and the tape on the handlebars. Every team uses the same flat rubber pedals. It's a lot of fun to see. My boy was on the winning team in 2014.

I stand corrected, they are single speed with coaster brake. So they do have a brake. ( they are not a fixed gear bike, those you could not coast)
