Kia Ora brother, I'm a Maori from New Zealand , ngati pukenga tribe. In the top part of the north island. I found this very awesome as We were also taught about how we humans have always existed in spirit form. Also that the spirit comes through the top of the head when you are born and your not completely here until the top of your head full becomes bone. Touching a baby that did not belong to you was a very bad thing to do as your energy can effect the child. This was enough reason to cause war and has done. Thanks for reading

I see much of that in the Orthodox Jewish faith also. Women do not shake hands with a man and I think that is wise. They conserve sexual relations for marriage and that is also wise. They do not hug outsiders and please do not touch their children. Have to wonder about the kippah men wear on their head as Mr. Brown explains the spirit spiral. Very glad to know. Thank you for sharing Mr. Brown.

Long ago I heard an interview with a Australian aboriginal elder discussing his efforts to share the old wisdom with the youngsters who came back from the cities seeking to learn their heritage. He discussed how it was not possible to fully impart the ancient wisdom to those who had not been fully raised in the old ways. His closing statement still haunts me. So much of what he says correlates also to what my native German, Celtic, and Iberian tribes had before the Church converted us and before that the Romans had conquered and "civilized" us. We knew water was conscious, knowing instinctively that every body of water has either a spirit or, in some cases, even a Goddess. The water was seen as a portal into the Otherworld and when we made sacrifices, i.e. our relationship with the deities was understood as a reciprocal exchange, so "sacrifice" could be with anything, it was often things we would sacrifice in rivers such as breaking a sword or something beloved to us. Water had an important role in both Germanic and Celtic cosmology, including our "creation" myths.

@@wylldflower5628 Good point. Well I reject the common misconception that identifies Myths with falsehoods, whereas I see Myths as the most profound and deepest yet transcendent truths. "Creation" because the worldwide norm seems to be an emergence and emanation, rather than the sort of "creation" associated with Abrahamism. So for example, how the Earth formed out of the literal body of a Goddess and us out of both cosmic elements combining with the terrestrial elements.

@@seanjobst1985 The cosmic elements and the terrestrial elements make sense to me, though I also believe we exist as individual spirits before were born so anything new, for me has to include this. I like learning about the various mounds people. I’ve not checked for tribe, I know someone in the family has documented our Native American ancestors. So far if any bits made it to me, they aren’t in the testing protocols yet! What is Sabian German, and did you know the Welsh made it to Mobile well before Columbus? They ultimately blended with a tribe, I’ve forgotten the name but when Brit’s started to arrive a few recognized their Welsh.

I loved that he spoke of women dealing with the physicalities of life (as so often we do, even if physical strength isn’t always our forte!) and that the men’s responsibilities were also in a realm that requires a stretching of them. What a way to build balance and respect into the roles of a family. And the strongest families, I know the men have more spiritual depth than “average“, and the women are great at handling & managing a lot that goes on in family life.

Once upon a time, every act had meaning. But when we imitate acts without understanding their meaning, over time and generations, they become taken for granted and meaningless. In my opinion, our modern world strips the meaning out of our actions. We just act, almost out of programming, responding to the overwhelming bombardment of stimuli, without ever finding the time to consider why because we have very little time for ourselves. Many tribal cultures had established systems in place to help people transition through growth and deal with mental and social issues. Not all of them were perfect, or even good, but without the wisdom and knowledge of the past, we are just boats on the ocean, lost in a sea of meaninglessness. It's a shame that much wisdom from tribal societies is lost.

Japanese society, ancient chinese society and others...when food has to be gathered from the source, children become important workers in the family. even now all children living on a farm anywhere in the world have chores that must be done or the family and the farm will suffer. in such cases, the discipline is ritualized as work. one of the biggest problems for modern society is that children have no purpose until they get a job which in many cases is too late for some to learn how to work.

There was a mother a grandmother that changed a prayer and I couldn't understand the language, but then what i felt as a grandfather talked to me in my thoughts and translated her prayer and he told me that a blessing must be given that seals the ceremony keeps my spirit from becoming a hungry or vengeful spirit upon the earth. Nathan, Your story reminds me of two experiences that I have had. My ex-mother-in-law had a massive stroke with no hope of recovery, so I prayed that she would go quickly and not left to suffer - stuck inside a broken body like my grandmother had after her stroke. Before bed, I was sitting at the table and I felt a whoosh of energy swirl around me, but did not think too much about it other than to acknowledge that I felt something. As I slept, I had a dream of a silhouette that was floating backwards through a tunnel of light, and because she was legally blind, I thought that she was confused, so I told her to turn around and go to the light. I awoke to the phone ringing and did not need to be told that she was gone and realized that the whoosh of energy that I had felt was just her checking up on me on her way out to make sure that I was doing OK. I also realized that I was silly to think that I was showing her the way, but rather she was showing me to have faith in the afterlife. Move forward a few years and I had another dream of a being in a tunnel of light with an outreached hand calling my son's name. I awoke and told my husband that my son was going to be a dad. It wasn't long, and I received an email from my son telling me that I was going to be a grandma. I once asked my grandson if he ever thinks of me when we are not together. He said yes. I asked him what do you do? He put his hand to his head and then outreached towards me as if to say my thoughts to yours, and I smiled to myself. My grandson was just officially diagnosed with Autism at 13 years old. There are days when I wonder if my grandson is the reincarnated spirit of his great grandmother. An old soul that lived a life as a handicapped person - fought hard through legislative paths in Minnesota for the rights of handicapped people when the modern Civil Rights era was in it's infancy. Could it possibly be that she chose to come back and give it another round as a disabled being to help teach us all about acceptance, compassion, and continuity of the spirit?

@JerekBilbar
@JerekBilbar Год назад
@@lindaj5492 it’s true, but it’s more accurate to the heart of each individual belief system. I was born one religion, became an atheist, and now want a different religion. On one hand, there should be peace in the fact that not all these religions are THAT different at the end of the day. However, the differences do define the heart of each individual religion. If we all think other religions are ‘basically us but with different names for everything,’ that’s pretty harmful as well, in my opinion. For example, Christians and Muslims say bad people go to hell and good to Heaven, Jews says not so much. Christians say Jesus was the son of god, Muslims disagree, but they both believe he was born of a virgin. Jews and Christians have sacred ways of consuming alcohol, it is forbidden to Muslims. Christians say that only those saved by ‘Jesus’ go to heaven, the Quran says all believers who are righteous go to heaven (and its definition of believers and righteous is honestly pretty loose and forgiving for the time period lmao). This is just among three religions, but I hope it highlights my point. Unity is important, but it’s also important to ACKNOWLEDGE our different beliefs rather than lump them all together. Yes, Men drunk with power and religious fervor have done terrible things for thousands of years. Frankly, I’m even privy to shake my finger at God for all that nonsense. Could we cut it out? But, a lot of this conflicts STEMS from one religion trying to INFLICT their beliefs onto those who believe something else. Very rarely is it just ‘non’ believers being punished or persecuted in history (not never, just rarely), it’s usually just humans who believe something different. So, differences matter. Understanding difference matters most of all.

@@cindysmith1700 My parents used a belt or razor strop for punishment, but also a switch when switch things were available. Believe me! A switch "bites" in ways a belt or strop does not! We were punished like that if we did not listen or repeatedly behaved badly. My parents never beat us. I don't remember ever being slapped. Spanked on the bottom with the hand when we were little, yes. When older, a few good smacks across the backside usually took care of it. As teens we got grounded or privileges revoked. Not Native American at all, Dad of German/English-Irish descent, Mom of Dutch/English. Although recently I found out that my mtDNA shows S. American native genes. I smiled at that. I also found that many of my interests echoed quite a bit of my mtDNA. I laughed a lot finding out these things! Would I want to relive any of the aspects? No. I am what I am today. Thank you for sharing. 🌻 I'm in the uk, and I'm also a ex-christian. One of the MANY reasons I became disillusioned with Christianity is the absolute distain and hatred they have for other cultures and other people's religious beliefs. If we all spent time learning about other cultures and their beliefs, without constantly condemning them, and forcing our own belief system on them, surely we'd have a more peaceful world! We are ALL human beings! That's something we DO have in common!

I believe, as a fellow Christian, that your exclamation on the close- mindedness of the Christian faith, has been, at least in our time, been wildly exaggerated and weaponized to hastily erase certain traditions and rituals in our culture that in alot of cases, aren’t truly even connected to Christianity. This current culture and generations are cutting off their nose to spite their face. They do this without the proper and complete understanding of our collective history and alot of our tradition’s origin. By the time we realize, it will be too late. But at least all our tombstones wont be misgendered or contain “hatespeak”.

@@googleedwardbernays6455 Agreed. I myself tend to think God/the Great Spirit gives all cultures information about the world, our place in it and our relationship to Him. @Firewater By Design, the purpose of life can be explained in two sentences only. And they are as follows: "We are all connected and therefore responsible for each other and the world we live in. We will only be able to understand our connection to each other once we experience the pain that we have inflicted on each other". This is exactly what the ancestors of the old man taught their successors but the actual teachings were misrepresented and perverted because they chose to include unnecessary information which led to the misinterpretation of the entire message. The main focus should be on letting go of your false human identity and embracing your true identity of being an infinte and indestructible spiritual being that is responsible for Creation. Where responsibility constitutes sacrificing your own happiness comfort and life in the service of others. Because life cannot exist without the acceptance of RESPONSIBILITY. Do you understand?
@firewaterbydesign
@firewaterbydesign Год назад
@@meowchat6175 VERY much so. I agree. However, I still believe that there is MUCH to be learned from one another and our ancestors. We should NEVER discount others, as there are lessons to be learned in EVERYTHING!!! In the end, it ALL comes down to ONE word. That word is LOVE!!! Have you ever listened to the Kryon information/channeling? They are VERY helpful and informative. Imho
@meowchat6175
@meowchat6175 Год назад
@Firewater By Design thank you for your response, I really appreciate your kind words. In regards to the Kryon channellings, yes I have heard of Lee Carroll's work and it is interesting but as I mentioned earlier the author includes a lot of additional information which is irrelevant and unnecessary for spiritual development. My teachers who are extraterrestrial beings that have visited me on several occasions in my place of residence have told me that irrelevant information will only hinder one's spiritual development and cause more confusion than understanding. Furthermore, the word "Love" is an emotional word and it is often confused with something that we want or need which is a negative aspect in spiritual development because it causes one to become focused towards the self (the false human identity). That is why they always use the word "Responsible" because it is free from emotional bindings and cannot be confused with any other meaning. The problem with human emotions is that they will cloud your judgement and prevent you from making the appropriate decisions in life and death situations.

I had always known I was Native American, but until recently never knew what tribe. I was inspired to learn more about my culture, and seeing this video has made me over joyed!! It seems iinstinctively, I followed the path of ancestors! Since I was a child I knew of the four elements, Fire (Spirit), Water (Emotion) Air (Mind), and Earth (Body & Environment). I didn't know of their symbolism and meaning, but I knew kf them as "powers" and constantly asked my Sister which one of these she had lol. As I grew older I left the Jehovah Witness teaching of my family and pursued my own understanding of Truth. With this I found the freedom to embrace various occult practices. Mainly astrology, tarot, and ceremonial magic, as well the pursuit of the 4 elements & Spirit philosophy! To think I have been pursuing alternative forms of the same teachings my ancestors followed....makes me so proud to know my roots, and encourages me to follow the paths I know are meant for me! ❤ 4,444 times I thank you greatly!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I loved this and he has so much wisdom, thanks for uploading. As a descendant of European tribes who has returned to his ancestral path, felt the calling of our own animism, I find more in common with Native Americans than with people who may look like me but still hold on to what was later forced upon us. Our mythologies throughout Europe also stress the importance of the top of the head to the Divine. The place of our soul entering, the place where we connect and awaken to the Divine Mind. Likewise the sacred number 4 and the spirals were common in our symbols. Spirals found on ancient megaliths but also expressed by the Celtic triskele, the lore about labyrinths, how fertility of the earth was understood as spirals, such as with our Suebi/Alemanni goddess Zisa, whose sacred symbol was the pinecone which also relates to the pineal gland, etc.. The Germanic Helm of Awe also involved the four directions and looks much like the Native American Medicine Wheel, but with the other four directions also marked (northeast, southwest, etc.). Our lore speaks not only of the directions but also how these connect to the different realms within our cosmology. These each involve how we work with the elements, a different spiritual power, and even the different stages of our psyche. So for example how it may relate to our lower self, our higher self, working our our elevated Ancestors, with the Underworld, etc.. All part of our cyclical understanding of Nature, the Cosmos, and our place within it.

I guess then that you make all of your own clothes and shoes from animals that you harvest, source all of your food, source all of the freshwater that you need, walk or ride an animal you captured and trained for transportation, and you find or build a cave to live or build something from wood, rock or mud and of course you make the tools you need to hunt, process animals and plants for food, store water build a place to live and process wood for fire oh yes and make fire from items you find in the wilderness. you will also need to find medicinal plants to help you when you get sick. so you also have the freedom to live a very very hard life and probably die of an infected cut, or just exhaustion and dehydration as you spend a day or two chasing a deer you wounded but didn't kill. PS the deer survives but you're gone before you turn the ripe old age of 35.

@@ricoviselli I did live that very life. In my country people a smaller % still live like that but it's getting harder and harder. Big corp is buying up land or somehow bribing govt to kick people out. It's not black and white. Same thing that happened here happened all over and Is still happening. So that's why I asked. Which life do you prefer. At least before hand I could fight back whatever tribe would impede on my life. The outcome isn't determined, but you had a fighting chance always. Now the odds are stacked against you when the guy that prints unlimited fake notes can convince your govt it's not your land anymore lol or force you to get out of land that's free to everyone.

Tony Hillerman wrote a lot of books about a Navaho policeman, Jim Chee. In those books there are many descriptions of the ceremonies and culture of the Navaho, written with great respect. Joseph Campbell wrote about ceremonies celebrating the transition from childhood to becoming an adult, like the ones described here. Just for those interested in other sources 😊

I've read the Tony Hillerman books too. Interesting! And a little freaky in some ways. (Skinwalkers & coyote getting up to no good.) Helped me better understand a Navajo acquaintance. His daughter writes now, following in her Dad's footsteps.

I must have a spiritual connection to your ways, I always explain to the plants animals and people what I need why I'm needing it and that I'm grateful for it. I've done this since I've been young and many have made remarks to me but I stayed strong and true to my thoughts. Amazing TY for a reason for my actions.

I LOVE this. It is a true society, not the damaging thing we are forced to live in now. A society focuses on the human needs of the individual and the wellbeing of the group. It must work together in peace.

So the same tradition was followed into my childhood, & no doubt still today, in Appalachia. Except the guilty has to go cut their own switch. "Better not make it too small, you'll have to cut another & get twice the licks."

Wow. This is beautiful. As a husband of three years now, the fact that your culture prioritizes the man's Spiritual and Emotional leadership just fills me with so much longing and makes my spirit sigh. I often feel very isolated in my own culture because I see so many men who are completely cut off from their spiritual selves, while their wives drag them along in a desperate plea for them to wake up and lead. Deep within me I know there is a knowledge that it shouldn't be this way, that these men should be wise and kind and uplift their families. I have been the man to wake up my fellow men more times than I can count. I am always so surprised at how they've made it this long without engaging with their emotions and spirit. It is so cool to hear you speaking what my heart has been speaking. The fact that this is the only provision for divorce is so interesting as well. Oh how many of my friends and family member's marriages would have ended if this was how our culture handled things. Thank you for sharing your culture in this space. It was good for me to hear and learn from this as I try to un-learn so many things that my own culture has pushed on me since birth. Thank you.

With utmost respect I thank you for sharing the Navajo wisdom and beauty with those of us who were taught otherwise years ago in public schools. We had no choice in what was being taught, it has taken years for lots of us to be able to say Columbus didn't discover America, it was never lost, thank you Native Americans for allowing me to grow up here and try to find the truth. Now I must run as a Muslim is trying to behead me.
