I wish VW would observe all these cool builds and see the crazy potential these engines have. I want them to make a comeback, put them in the other R models(not the golf R) and lets get this damn engine back. That's all I want. Random Thought: Honesty a turbo vr6 in a 4 motion GLI:R would be so damn cool.

Sounds much better now, it sounds like a VR6 again. I’m sure the new exhaust will sound even better. The little boost at the end was nice too haha. Can’t wait to see it all done!

She's sounding much better on the revised file for driving, the rasp has quieted down a little in place of the VR sound which is awesome! Never got sick of my vr6 straight piped. Also surprisingly never got pulled over haha. So happy the vr world is picking up steam, have had mine pulled apart for years to do a full track build and these videos are really helping with the motivation to finish it!

I’ll be honest 😬 I’m in the Uk 🇬🇧 I have a 2.8 24v 4mo it’s still got a cat but the rest is straight and on a 100-150 mile trip when you can only to 70-80mph the drone is annoying. But I live near the North Yorkshire Moore’s and when you go burning the midnight oil deep in the woods it’s sounds absolutely amazing 🤩 In my honest opinion not many cars have such a unique sound 😬

I don't understand why ppl hate on them so much as they're just another element of sound. Most guys who talk shit about it run aftermarket exhaust that doesn't flow much better than their stock exhaust on their stock cars... so its also just noise. Anyway great build guys!

Thanks God! I’m so relieved to hear that the car sounds like a VR again because, probably due to that wastegate wide open, it just didn’t sound like a VR6 (which was blasphemy lol).

Great job with the build. I reckon you can boost it up to 15psi. With a massive ass turbo like that, you might as well. the vr6 are built damn well .... Unless I'm thinking of a vr6 from a mk4 R32 golf instead of a newer vr6.

On a bare block we have ran 12psi and it lived happily. One extreme was 15psi with no mods but it held up great but no more than 15psi .

Oh wow george! Night and day difference with the exhaust clips. I personally think it sounds way better in cabin and out! Its got that vr6 deep growl and some of that raspy went away. I like it! Amazing at what malaka has accomplished with this build. Everything working as it should is very impressive! Highest Boost you can!!

Stock 3.2L 24v high compression VR can take 6psi no problem. 7-8psi with 91 oct or better, with conservative timing. More than that is an issue unless running E85 or 93 oct. Anything over 8psi on stock high compression is rolling the dice. I’ve done 9-10psi overboost like that, but not recommended at all.

Newer Vr6 is a no go. MK$(4) or earlier. gap rings on stock block cast pistons will take 500 wheel easy.

Sounds great! It will definitely sound a bit better with the exhaust setup tho. Question, if the built motor has lower compression, will that be a problem with the tuning that you currently have set up? (assuming the stock engine has the higher stock compression (11:1-ish?)). Looking forward to the new exhaust sound clips and the development of the tune on the built motor 👍🏻

How did you mate the vr6 to the dq500? Ive seen an adapter from racing custom parts but theyre in europe.. any suggestions would be appreciated, im stealing a dq500 for my golf r

8 psi spring . controller to bring it to easy 15-16 psi boost

Remember RU-vid viewers to have your rods resized before you slap ARP rod bolts to your rods ARP hardware much stronger and will flex your stock VW rod ends out of round so remember viewers to re size rod ends. 👍🏻
