First time I saw Alan Rickman was the bad guy in Die Hard with Bruce Willis. Alan was an amazing bad guy. I have been a big fan of his ever since. I truly grieved when he passed. There was just something about him.

I could give you a million haha. I usually find them by putting in a show or movie i like an scrolling own on IMDB and looking at the 12 options they give you that are similar. SO if you ever want to find something similar to what you have seen you should go to IMDB. I could go on for ever listing movies and shows so here are some i like, I really love the mini series from like bbc so most of the shows will be mini series. Film: Far from the Madding Crowd The dressmaker A Promise Testament of Youth Brooklyn (pretty much any of the modern movies based off of Jane Austin novels) Boy in the stripe pajamas The book Thief The Help Lady Chatterley's lover Shows: ANZAC Girls The Crimson Field Land Girls Bomb Girls Jamaica Inn The Mill The Village The paradise call the midwife Poldark (amazing!) North and South Haha i could honesty go on for days but ill leave you with these.

I showed this at the military retirement community where I work and they all loved it. What that tells you about this film is that it's intelligent writing that respects the audience, the linear story proceeds at a moderate pace, there is no one-on-one violence, modesty in the sex scene, and a happy ending. Oh, and beautiful clothes. All these factors make for a very decent movie for mature adults -- harder and harder to find these days. I hope that some others I've seen trailers for will be decent as well: Brooklyn; Testament of Youth; Suite Francaise; Far From the Madding Crowd. Woman in Gold was also appreciated. Note that many of these are British films.

I just saw the movie last week because of wanting to see Alan reunited with Kate in a movie. Now, Alan is gone 😔 Lucky for us that he left us this beautiful movie. I will miss seeing what he could've filmed next. Rest in peace, Colonel Brandon. 💜

VERY ORIGINAL story, script and incredible actors, plus an EXCELLENT photography...watching this movie was for me like beeing part of the landcape or the story or even the actors staff...YOU ARE LITTERALLY there with them on scene. MESMERIZING in all senses. KATE is an amazing actress and can adapt to any time. SHE WAS 4 months PREGNANT at the time of the hot scenes with Matthias Schoenaerts!!! *o*

Everyone else is making references to other movies with Alan Rickman or Kate Winslet. I'm sitting in bed envying Louis XIV. That guy had a private pleasure palace, a boatload of mistresses, and an empire that dominated Europe and occupied huge swaths of North America.

Actually, most mistresses actively sought out the King and made themselves available. By being a Mistress they were put in a temporary position of power and control, until the time came when they grew old, or someone prettier and younger came along, after which they were treated like whores. I'm not saying they weren't treated awfully, I'm simply saying most sought it our for the temporary gratification of wealth and control.
