I'm an Anglican Priest in the Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and I get to serve in the Parish of St Margaret of Scotland, in the beautiful city of Halifax, NS, that sits on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people.
My pronouns are he/him/his. My theology is primarily Christo-centric - Jesus is at the centre and it is against Him that all values are bounced off. I believe all people are created in the image of God and are children of God and are heirs to the throne of God - no conditions - therefore every single person we meet deserves our love, and respect.

Trump admitted… in a roundabout kind of way… that he feels no guilt for anything he’s ever done. He was asked about it in a recorded tv interview and he said he has never needed forgiveness because he’s never done anything that warrants that. So it’s clear that he thinks he’s above the land of the law and God’s law. That’s not what I’d call someone that’s supposed to lead “good Christians.” But it’s someone that might be a good leader for “the devil’s subjects.” I wonder how many of these “good Christian” Trump supporters realize and understand this?! Done. I watched the other video about an American clergyman who’s pretty radical on the right, and I wanted to ask, if God really loves all people, what does He do with Putin? Putin goes to church on Sunday, but he obviously doesn’t practice Christianity. You just have to look at what he to tell that. So what do we make of what you said in light of certain characters who are disturbing?

Some dude said , «let’s ask him to keep his (….) views to himself…. ». Dude, if the reverend’s views bother you, you can always move on to other things. Nobody is forcing you to listen. You can’t expect others to keep silent and from posting videos online just because they say things you don’t want to hear. If his views bother you, that’s your problem. Suck it up and move on.

I met Senator Joe Biden in 1974 when I was 19 years old and was visiting the Capitol building with my boyfriend. We wanted to see our Maryland Senator but he was not in. Biden was then senator from Delaware and heard our request. He came out of his office, introduced himself and walked with us through the Rotunda explaining highlights as we walked through. He asked us how he could make the nation better for the people. He asked us about our hopes and dreams. But not once during our 30-minute conversation did he ask us about our political affiliation. I vividly recall thinking "Note to self, this is a man who truly cares about people." Today, President Biden's 1000-watt smile is still the same as it was when I met him 50 years ago and so is his heart and dedication to the American people.

The reason David was "a man after God's own heart" is because he was quick to repent. Repent as in rending his clothes and sitting in sackcloth and ashes and crying to God, "Oh Lord, I really screwed up and I'm sorry, I beg of you to please forgive me!" @@FakingANerve I’ve asked a similar question to some “end times evangelicals.” In Revelation there is mentioned that there will be this ultimate battle between good and evil. Evangelicals believe it will happen in Israel. (One reason for their real support of Israel!) And it’s there that the victorious “good Christians” will “ask” the Jews (and anybody else) if they “accept Christ” and those that don’t will get killed. Now tell me that is something that a “good God” would not only do to “his Jews”, but also what we would demand of “his good Christians”? I got a lot of hum and haw… or some weak “explanations.” (You know… “good Jews” will automatically go to heaven. Kind of what I heard a mastermind of jihadi suicide bombers once say, in an interview.)

I spent my entire life up to age 45 praying that God would do this for my mother. And from age 17-29 I prayed that God would do this for my first husband. These were not unanswered prayers. God answered NO. My mother took her hard heart to the grave (and indeed I believe she was possessed by the same demons that infected my husband and Donald trump). He may be working still on my ex husband, but that’s truly none of my business. I wasn’t going to stick around for it because I would have lost my life. DT enjoys who he is the way he is now. He would need to want to change, but he believes, truly believes, that nothing he’s ever done is wrong. People can pray for DT. Go ahead. People have probably been praying for DT since he was a small child doing wicked deeds. But I believe God has already answered.

Did Trump evet have a history of being religous like David? David wrote the entire book of Psalms. When finally called out for his egregious sins, he confess and repented. He and his family and still suffered the consequenses. Trump has never shown adherence to a region or the 10 Commandments. I would say JFK was a closer parallel. When David was held to account for his sinful behavior did he get revenge or did he confess and repent? We have seen how Trump has repeatedly said he will seek to kill those who have called him on his sinful behavior.

I know Old Testament morality can be problematic to the modern day, but am I the only person uncomfortable by the suggestion that the Bathsheba business was only a sin because of the consequences for Uriah? Your proposed solution - that David should have just ordered other men to hand over their unmarried daughters for compulsory "marriage" - ie for compulsory and permanent incarceration in his harem/brothel - whether purchased or extorted from their fathers - doesn't quite seem ideal for the half of the population who have no right to refuse. Perhaps our opinion doesn't matter because we're mere breeding stock. But I wouldn't have expected a modern Christian to suggest this as alternative, OK, behaviour. Clearly murdering a man is worse than raping a woman - but that doesn't mean we should be suggesting mass rape as a guilt-free alternative to murder!

Rev. You spend too much time on the old Testament. The New Testament is the word of God through Jesus. Trump thinks he is the new savior. David never claimed to be the new savior. Let's hear what you have to say about the word of God through Jesus. Trump is in no way any comparison to Jesus.
