I love sharing my local independent bookstores - here are 2 of them in this video...at the very end, I've added some B roll from one of my faves located on what's called the North Side or North Shore area of Pittsburgh.
I look forward to chatting with all of you in the Comments! Of course, please feel free to list one of your local indie faves. I'm always looking to add to my list as I travel.

Enjoy your new books! As for the keeping of read books, what I do is I highlight and tab beautiful passages, and then once in a while I’ll open a read book and just go to the tabbed passages to relieve the feeling I had when I read those passages for the first time. I find that I don’t really have to reread the whole book again to get the whole feeling of the book. Of course sometimes I reread a whole book once in a while.

that bookstore sounds AMAZING (well-named 😅) also that calvino -- im intrigued! and you totalllllly have to read the quartet! i actually initially got the UK covers because i was so turned off by the US editions, and then hearing the intention behind it (and just generally adoring the series so much) im now on the hunt for the US prints. and kicking myself because ive encountered it countlessssss times in used book stores and little free libraries in the past but havent seen them much since 😭 this was such a fun video!

@LifeLessonsFromBooks 7 месяцев назад
Thank you for your video. I had to chuckle with your experience with thrift stores and buying second hand books. I agree wholeheartedly. I buy a whole heap and then figure out they’re not what I’d like to hang on so I give it back. 😂 My favourite past time is visiting second hand book stores, vintage markets and bric-a-brac places to scrounge around dusty shelves and boxes. I’ve bought so many books for cheap. (I’ve got heaps of Anita Brookner and want to read her entire collection). Calvino’s If On A Winters Night is one I could NEVER read. It’s in my kindle and I think that’s part of the problem. I’ve tried reading it on a screen but it does my head in. I need to find it paperback as it might be a different experience!😅

Helen, that sounds like SO much fun. I should venture out sometime to places like that…beyond my local charity shop…like even flea markets. Is that a term you use in Australia? It sounds like a lot of fun…the digging for treasures!
@LifeLessonsFromBooks
@LifeLessonsFromBooks 7 месяцев назад
It's strange but Australians don't use the term "flea markets" instead use "trash and treasure" for the markets; second hand stores are "op shops" (short for opportunity)...both excellent places for great finds and my haunts....@@thelefthandedreader6632

Yes! So sometimes there are more digital copies available for a book so you might be able to get it faster or, since it gives you an estimate of how long it can take for a copy to become available, you can put it on hold for later on purpose. That can be nice too.@@thelefthandedreader6632

Brandon, I have! I talk about the main concepts of it in a video from the Summer called 5 Favorite Books - I read before Booktube. And the thumbnail has Infinite Jest in it. That might be helpful. Look, I didn’t get all of it but at its heart it’s a story about a dysfunctional family, a rehab clinic and the third thread…well that one is confusing. I didn’t let that one area stop me tho. I was in it for the quality of the writing and the dialogue…is some of the best I’ve ever read. It is a chunkster but reading it a little at a time adds up.
