Gruene is a small town or village near New Braunfels, Texas. It's a German-Texan town that originated with cotton production along the Guadalupe river, and it's a big tourist spot today for folks who go floating on the river while they stay in cabins and cottages and other accommodations. Gruene has a lot of live music, as you can see from this walk around the area on this hot Sunday afternoon on Fourth of July weekend. The epicenter of Gruene is Gruene Hall and the Gristmill restaurant that surrounds it. Gruene Hall has bit national and Texas touring acts and the Gristmill waiting area has a small stage featuring live music too. Walking around, you can find live music at Grapevine in Gruene, Gruene Grove, Wichita Reds, The Gruene Light, Inferno's Pizza, and The Villa. Ultimately, I made it up to Wimberley to play music at the cantina at 7A Ranch. Good times.
