My daughter was raised on real country music, before this country pop came along. Private Malone was and still is one of her favorites. She drove my old Chevy truck all through high school, and the radio was always tuned to a country station.
I'm crying as I type this. People nowadays don't understand or can't comprehend the meaning of these songs. I'm obsessed with the military and wanting to make a difference and fight for our wonderful and magnificent country, but something always pulls me back. Maybe in a past life I was a military man. Idk, but it's always nice to listen to patriotic songs.
+Danny Turner It's gone exactly like what is been discussed in my video of Jim Ed & Jimmy Capps discussing how country music of today has got no originally or distinctively like the music of old! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zP-KhuXW5hw.html
connors Landscaping We need more people like this young fella Mo Pitney singing the George Jones classic "'Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes' to keep the traditional country music alive! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gmnYFGXXRLY.html
this youngens today only wants to listen to rap and TRASH like that from a MAKE BELIEVE WORLD !!! Country aint country anymore and whos gonna fill their shoes ?
I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song. It stunned me. It was 4:30 am and I was Alone. Being a wounded combat Vietnam vet it brought back so many memories of years ago. I had tears running down my face for ten minutes. I could see the faces of the friends I lost. It still chokes me up.
I can remember sitting at the bar drinking a beer at Texas Cattle Company in Macon, Ga back in 1994 and in walks David Ball with an acoustic guitar, a guy with a stand up bass, and another guy with a snare drum. Without delay, they started playing "Thinkin Problem" which apparently had just been released. I believe they were in town to play a show. It was truly phenomenal and I couldn't get over just how talented this guy was. I still love his voice.
I missed Nam by months. I always have tears when I hear this song. Only song that hits me this way. " If you're reading this, I didn't make it home".Gets me everytime.
A lot of people are really missing out ! This is by far the best video of this song that was ever made. Complete with story. David has just gotten better with the years. To me, this is better than the original video of this song !! Thanks for posting.
Beautiful song, music brings us back to different times in our lives. My brother Robert was in Vietnam at that time, many blessings to all those who served this great country!
I am so glad that my brother made it back from Vietnam in 69. God bless you bubby please watch over the rest of the family. I miss you and I love you your little brother. Mark
My step dads brother didn't make it back alive. I wasn't here yet to have ever known him but it still hurts me to think of what the family went through
Thank you, David, for this contribution to our servicemen & women! This song has great meaning to our Brothers in arms! We owe them so much for fighting for our freedom so we don't have to fight them here at home! 2nd, 36th Inf, 3 A. D.TTK
I truly love the song Private Melon it reminds me of my brother who took his life because he thought that he was a burden to the Family him taking his own life 💔 truly distroyed our family I truly wish that he was still with us ! Thanks for making the song
This song for some reason always makes me cry. I love & miss all the REAL TRADITIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC. I just don't know or understand how this junk being played today on country stations is even considered to be country music... This crap is about 1500 miles away from being COUNTRY MUSIC in my opinion.
My dad fought in tail end of WWII at 16 years!! Fought all of Korean War, and beginning of the Vietnam War! So proud, Purple Heart recipient. Never talked about it, I found out most of it after his death. Died with some shrapnel still in his belly from Korea. God bless our troops, who my All State football 🏈 son is now proudly a member of US Army!! God bless the USA
I'm a metalhead but I do like some country plus I am a die-hard veteran. USN. Every time I listen to this song it almost makes me cry this is the most powerful pro veteran song I have ever heard
This song is sooo moving. It reminds me of the old urban legend of the man buying a Veteran's Corvette. It also was released around the time that my uncle a Korean War veteran passed away.
Thank you for all the people that serverd for my freedom and the great singers that give us beautiful sounds. Mr. Ball sounds so clean doing this song.
There is only one other time I can remember hearing this song, and up to now did not know who sang it, I m going to get it soon. David Ball reminds me a lot like Mr. Geoge Strait, kind looks like him too.!!!
Thank each and everyone of you all thank you all for being my friends on the road of life I can't wait to sit with each and every one of you all again hopefully soon love you all
Edward Hines THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOURS & YOUR MILITARY BROTHERS & SISTERS SERVICE TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY. Y'ALL ARE MAKING US TRUE AMERICANS VERY VERY PROUD OF Y'ALL... JOB WELL DONE...MARINE!!!
This song really touched my heart. I had a brother in law who was in the Vietnam War and survived. But he was killed less than a block from home by an 18 year old boy who ran a traffic light. The boy didn't have a scratch on him but he killed Pete. July 13 1978. And it still hurts today. He left behind 2 little girls.
I love to hear Wood Newton sing his song at the Flora-Bama during the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival (FBISF). He may not have the backup band and singers, but he too is awesome!
My wife and i got married Nov 10 2001, we drove from North Carolina to Niagra Falls for our honeymoon. Just about the time they were playing this song all the time on the radio. So while this song is awesome by itself but it reminds me of the great American honeymoon roadtrip ever.
