Thanks for showing this. For me this is the only stove with the soul and i'm glad it will live long.

It is our pleasure. I agree that the quiet calm of the wilderness is kind of ruined by bringing along a blast furnace. These stoves are more gentle and consistent with the environment.

The newer UL sets are lighter again but of much more durable aluminium. Even the new 2.5 lt billy is UL. I have Duossal pots & pan for my 27 series. Fantastic cook set. You can get a gas burner too that I need to use during fire ban periods of the Australian summer. Versatility & can cook proper meals with it. My 27 has given me over 20 years of trouble free use. Thanks for sharing.

Same reason I got the gas burner for mine - fire bans, being unable to secure fuel alcohol - and when a need for careful simmering.

Nice kit, It seems it travels a lot with you! Its possible to clean the parts and burner with a Scotch Britte or similar. I restored some of them to shiny surfaces, also its pretty easy to remove dents on trangia aluminium parts, if you have minimum skills. You have to be gentle and have in mind you're not working with steel. To avoid the handle to scratch the rims, you have to get rid of the sharp edges present on the handle when new due manufacturing process. Also is important to avoid overheating pots (or empty) as they tend to bend and the non stick layer could be damaged

Thank you, this is all good advice. At the same time it is just a stove for camping and does not need to be pretty. Still, I decided to buy a new set of wind shields...

Mine too! It is the only one I ever actually use.

@@wildernesscanoeassociation I also use a Jetboil too - typically for trips in which I rely on dehydrated food only. But the trangia is def more versatile! Cheers!

nice video mate, had mine since 1978 have added non stick frying pan and kettle over the years, would not be with out it many, many adventures over the years

Thanks for sharing. They are not prohibitively expensive, and the design is so simple that there is no reason one should not last for 45 years.

Nice review. I also have Trangia 25-4. I am struggling to find the fuel for the stove. Would you share where can purchase the fuel? Appriciate if you could share the exact product name as well. Thanks.

Sure. In Canada methyl alcohol is often called Methyl Hydrate, or methanol. In the U.S. it can be called wood alcohol or wood spirits. In some countries it is called methylated spirits or denatured alcohol. It can be found in any hardware store in the paint department. In Canada there is a generic brand simply labelled Methyl Hydrate, 'Turbo Power Heavy Duty Methyl Hydrate,' or 'SOLVABLE Professional Grade Methyl Hydrate' that is sold at Canadian Tire, Home Hardware, Rona, Home Depot, and Lowe's.

These are the Guyot Designs Squishy Bowl and Cup set. I probably originally bought them at Mountain Equipment Co-op. It is not clear if they are made anymore, but some of the colors are shown to be available through Amazon.

I found lighters don't work if the striker gets wet from wet hands so I went to a fire steel which works well.

Then it is the lighter that failed. In the cold though I don't think a spark will be enough. In the winter the fuel needs to be warmed first, thus the candle.

Shame they don't do a stainless steel version! I avoid cooking with aluminium and Teflon at all costs!
@AirsDream
@AirsDream Месяц назад
You missed something: they do have a stainless steel version ... the Trangia Duossal line is stainless inside food contact surfaces, aluminum outside for better heat distribution.

Yes all coated pans are susceptible to wear, but the Trangia ones are ridiculous low quality.
@AquaTech225
@AquaTech225 Год назад
I got to disagree mine hold up great long as your not using metal on it. And completely overheating it with nothing in it. Matter fact I think their nonstick coating is a little more slick than some other true stove pans I’ve used over years.
@Chris66able
@Chris66able Год назад
@@AquaTech225 I don't use mine any different than any other pan yet the Trangia ones look as if they were dug up from an ancient mine shaft.

It is also important to not keep the handle etc loose in the pot. Anything that rattles will attack the pan. Or get the duossal pan, it will last for ages

I don't know about low quality, but generally none of it is very expensive.
