A look at our knitted cushions for Rowan by ARNE & CARLOS 

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all your positive feedback, week after week! We are very pleased with how our knitted cushion collection came out, but unfortunately for us, the samples are currently so sought after that Rowan made sure we returned every single one of them - and they are no longer with us. When we post a video, we never know what people will comment on and sometimes we see an unexpected question that comes up over and over again. This time, a lot of people want to know what the cushions are stuffed with. When we design something like this, we will use a standard size, so that people can go to IKEA or somewhere else to easily get some nice cushions to use inside, that fit perfectly. Perhaps we may have mentioned before that we did not knit the cushions ourselves - we just designed and sketched them and they were knitted by the Rowan team in the UK, so we have no idea what they used. Also, we filmed this episode in November 2018, so we can't remember what was in them, but I think it was goose down feathers. We have sent the question over to the Rowan team to find out and we will update this if we hear back from them! Wishing you all a great week ahead!! Arne (and Carlos).

The cube pattern is like an escher painting love them all

Absolutely stunning. The thing I really love about you guys is that you don't use bulky yarn and that you use natural fibres. In Australia our standard yarn is 8ply which matches yours. The standard elsewhere seems to be 10ply and frequently larger. There is an emphasis on speed rather than detail. Your work has such attention to detail, truly beautiful. Before I had my children and also got involved in my physiotherapy career I used to design knitwear and crochet. Since my family is now grown and I am too ill to work you have inspired me this year to go back and try some of my own designs again. Thank you

You guys!! I have so many UFOs already, and your beautiful designs make me want to knit all the things!! Have to say, though, how warm and fuzzy it makes me feel to see what a great relationship the two of you have and how supportive you are of each other. So often I see friends running each other down and making belittling remarks to each other; they mean it for teasing, but what it shows others (especially children) is that they think it's OK to run other people down and belittle them in front of others and that if you want to be in a relationship with them, you just have to put up with it and take it. It is so refreshing and heartening to see people behaving toward each other in caring and supportive ways. Yes, your designs are beautiful and your podcasts are informative, but its watching you interact with each other in such positive ways that keeps me coming back. I strongly suspect I'm not the only one who feels this way, either.

A fabulous collection. Nothing matches, except for the palate of yarn. It's a great eclectic mix.

I have always gravitated to Pennsylvania Dutch designs which always include tulips, hearts and birds. Your Grandmothers designs remind me of that except theirs are much more intricate. A beautiful video. Thanks for the visit.

Utterly fabulous, designs, colours and wool, you must be delighted to see the cushions completed. The back colours are perfect and so would be the universal designs. The option of mixing is impressive and I just love sort of no match thing, but it does all blend wonderfully. Really nice to see some of your Grans cushions Carlos, they are beautiful. Yes, real Danish vibe for me with the bolder, repeated elements. My mother did those sort of designs as cross stitch with wool yarn stitched on a counted thread wool fabric. Timeless, as you say, and modern all at once. Charted designs are so very versatile. How about a pair of matching cross stitch slippers to one of the pillow designs?! 😎 Just for kicks and giggles! The blue and white cushion - you describe as 'traditional' is very reminiscent to me of some Japanese textiles designs I have seen - I LOVE this 'confluence' and LOVE your site which I have just discovered - fantastic - design, art, knitting. vintage and antique textiles - all the elements I love - can't wait to watch many more ....

I've been behind on watching your recent videos, but I still love them all, and I hope selling your patterns opens up more opportunities for you both. I can't wait to find yarn in my local store to use with your XO hat, and now these pillows! One thing I noticed was that there wasn't a link to the collection in the video description, but I'm sure I can find it on yours, or Rowan's website. When you say that they were knitted by Rowan, does that mean they were hand or machine knit? Everything about how this episode was set up is so cozy and welcoming. Thank you for sharing your inspiration, too, they are such lovely pillows! I really love hearing about your inspirations and culture. It warms my heart every time you share the memories from your grandparents. My grandmother taught me how to crochet, it has always been a fond memory and we still bond over sharing new techniques or projects. It's just so heartwarming to hear you talk about your grandmothers influence on your designs. Amazing work on the collection!

I love your pillows. It's a shame you have to send them because they look so good on your sofa. I like the one that your wanted to put on the back of a pillow that looks like the tumbling blocks block that can be used to make quilts. Thanks for showing us your beautiful designs.

It is lovely hearing the thoughts behind the designs. The ones that started out as backs I would use as a back that can be a front. It can be fun to swap things around and so having two designs per cushion on a couple of cushions means you can play mixy-up or matchy matchy depending on your mood that day. x

The designs would look wonderful as a needle point too!
