School safety is at the forefront of everyone's minds right now after the deadly attack at a Nashville school, Monday.
2 Wants to Know what these continued efforts look like locally.
WFMY News 2's Amber Lake spoke with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.
They walked through the safety measures in place already as well as what they hope to change.
Superintendent Tricia Mcmanus says at Tuesday night's school board meeting, a new contract is being brought to the table.
It's a proposal to pick a company to install more access code doors at elementary schools.
Mcmanus says the conversation about safety never stops.

There is a company called “clear armor” that will laminate glass in schools to render it bulletproof & smashproof. It’s not that expensive either, about $100 per student.

I'm a custodian in a school in CT. They need security. Training staff to barricade doors and throw things at shooter is not safety. Most of these shootings by these mentally ill people, are being done in elementary schools yet middle and high schools get the security. At what point is enough, enough???

The only way to stop this is to put walls around school, guard entrances and enforce metal detectors. If not, will continue to happen!

Was one of the three school employees that were in their 60's at this school back when she was a student?And possibly responsible for something happening to her or for her being or converting to be trans and her committing to surgery or chemical castration or something before she was out of even the 6th grade. And she felt forever harmed once she got old enough to understand what these people did to her body before she was old enough to fully understand? Was finding out she could now never have a family of her own and a normal life just to much for her to live with anymore? There are some hard questions that need to be answered about why she was so made at people in this school. That she was willing to die to get revenge of some kind. Something evil happened at this school years ago that brought this shooting on. These are the types of questions that need to be answered. What caused the rage

Good questions to ask frankly, we don't know what caused her to attack the school, but be prepared if the answer is not what you hoped for. There is a very real possibility it was all done wantonly and without thought. We can only wait and see

@@proYEEThean If I had a hope it would have been that nothing ever happened and I'd wouldn't be writing anything right now. What a horrible comment of yours. I'm only looking for truths. Until people start being honest about why so many shooting keep happening. There's no way to stop them. Actually with what I know about people in general. The shootings problem will probably get much worse. Mostly because no one is being honest about the true motivation behind them. So nothing is being done to stop the reasons they happen. And there many totally different reasons they are happening on both sides. 1.) Causes. and 2.) Over reactions. If you don't stop the causes. There can always be over reactions. Right or wrong. Society is filled with causes. And these causes shouldn't be happening in the first place. They are wrong, hurtful and harmful. And I can't possibly be the only one that sees this. But then again I may be the only one that has always lived a life of honesty and facts.
