absolutely freaky how everyone acts like this is a daily occurrence at their school holy shit. the officer is literally the only one to realise this is serious. it freaks me out everyone acts so calm including the shooter himself. it breaks my heart to see how this happens so regularly, hope the boy who was shot is okay however.
Unfortunately in a lot of American public schools kids are pretty desensitized to this kind of thing, they were obviously decently frightened and in a more initial and silent state of shock, but when I was still in public school, in a very small low crime area, in a small little town in Indiana, we got days off every now and then because of bomb/shooting threats. There were also a decent amount of fights between students I’d say every month or two. We also did shooting drills a lot and knew of students and classmates that had weapons and posted photos of them online or sent pictures of them too friends and we’re definitely capable of doing something like that. Just based on hearing you would think it was in a big city, high crime, rough area, but again this was in a suburban little town in Indiana with the town right next to it being ranked one of the safest in the entire country. Whenever that stuff would happen it would be scary for a minute and yea you’d be on edge, a couple kids wouldn’t come to school, but we’d move on, and it often got to the point where kids would celebrate when we’d get days off bc of bomb/shooting threats. We become so desensitized to the idea of it happening to where a lot American students don’t really react to it unless they hear repeated shots and see blood. It’s very sad but unfortunately very true. It becomes almost like a tornado warning, you know in a lot of places you get them all the time and you go to your safe zone and it passes and then you go home, reality doesn’t really set in until you start hearing screams and see the roof coming off your classroom. Because of how sadly common school shootings have become here, a lot of students are very desensitized to the idea.
People being calm doesn’t mean that they don’t think it is serious. On the contrary, the fact that they aren’t acting hysterical can be the result of wanting to maintain composure to not impede the situation from being handled, as well as shock over what happened. I don’t know why everyone is saying that the officer is the only one who thinks it is serious. It’s really not uncommon to witness this behavior when something shocking happens. As someone who works in a school, I can tell you that in my experience both staff and students would take this very seriously, as they have when comparatively much, much milder situations have occurred.
You are trained to remain calm in tense situations, being calm in a bad situation is not the same thing as being okay with it. Would you rather have all of the staff being hysterical and freaking out in this moment or would you rather they be level-headed and calm so that people can collectively solve any problems and unknowns about the situation?
As someone who was in high school when this happened - we hold active shooter drills regularly. We are trained for these specific events just like fire or tornado drills - the only difference is almost everyone remembers exactly what to do in this situation every kid in america regularly fears for their safety in our public schools
Huh?? First thing this officer did was yell to secure the school instantly. And they were going to wherevee they beilieved shooter was. Like suppose to do. Smh
this kind of complaining is what leads to unnecessary and unjust hospitalizations then when it happens the same ppl who made comments like this will complain about the unjust hospitalizations. When will ppl learn that government cannot give ppl justice. Either live without government in chaos and be free or live as a slave under government in a failed attempt at safety. Even if the government could keep you safe which it cant, the cost of freedom is 2 high a price to pay to be safe.
That shooting literally seemed like a fever dream, and every time I see videos about it I still don't even understand. Everything just seemed so... Slow. Everyone was calm, and the shooter himself was so calm and understanding about everything. Everything the shooter said, just gave me complete chills. This was one of those most bizarre shootings I've ever seen.
I deadass think that the everyone was confused and in shock, Sky the shooter only shot once through a door and only hit one 17yo in the a ankle thankfully, no other shots, no other violence, Sky surrendered and put his things down probably because he was so hesitant to do anything else and realized he shouldn’t be doing this, he cooperated and was polite, he mentioned how he went to a mental hospital and they told him he was ight, he most likely got some mental illness but still “sane” enough to realize he must stop and surrender
Tbh i dont think he ever intended to kill, im honestly just confused about the motive here. maybe he needed a place to eat and spend the night and just chose the most idiotic way possible?
Didnt his weapon malfunction after the first shot due to the munition he was using and after that he gave up? I really dont think he "stopped himself" lol
The cries of the high schooler who was lying down on chairs who got shot makes me so scared to be a kid going to school. You can hear him screaming in pain while lying on those chairs. I hope he survived and has someone to help him through his trauma.
@KOHURU 2 He had it in a Guitar case The only why to prevent that is to have people who search every student which I’m not saying is bad but sounds like a huge inconvenience and breach of privacy
@@JonBow_ may I introduce you to the sultan of zanzibar, who declared war on the British, got shot at by a big gun boat and surrendered after a couple minutes
im really not sure how to feel about this entire situation, he's a school shooter that is incredibly honest and stopped before he caused any life threatening injuries. hope the woman shot in the ankle recovers well and i hope he gets the help he needs.
I feel like he got too much jail time. Of course he should get jail, maybe 10-20? 30 years is a long time considering he got one shot off and peacefully surrendered without killing anyone. I’m afraid of the precedent for someone else who might want to give up like he did. “Why bother? Either way it’s 30 to life” I’m afraid they might think
@@D4W1LL13official yeah but it wouldnt hurt for him to get at least some margin of help after all he did snap back to reality and realise what he was doing was completely batshit crazy, so he's not too far gone

He didn’t think they were going to let him go. He stopped shooting the first shot and surrendered. He could have shot at the officer , he could have shot at more people, created much more confusion… but he has a conscious, and clearly was not well. I’m disappointed as a juvenile who clearly is able to be rehabilitated considering DURING the crime he realized how wrong his actions were. Someone who is truly ‘psychopathic’ (anti-social personality disorder in the DSMV-V, that’s not a real diagnosis), would not be able to come to any kind of conclusion of conscious , especially during the crime as they feel a rush. Note that, our idea of a sociopath, and a psychopath , are two different things, but both are ASPD with differing symptoms. I don’t think this kid is either. I think he’s in shock at what he did in the video which is why he’s so flat. Who knows though ? I don’t. Its just natural to want to believe the best and wish the best for any young person. Either way , I feel sorry for him for whatever he went through to become this way, and I feel equally bad for the person shot. They’re both victims, though of course he’s thr only one who did wrong, and there’s no excuse-only an explanation. He clearly understands that.
@@scottyp2505 I'm guessing you've never worked in retail. A guy who shot some kid in the foot is basically a saint compared to the people you will meet.
Grayson 7 so you’re saying that shooting people is fine just as long as they don’t die? You don’t know shit about anything if you think that a school shooting is fine
I wish Mr. Long was our resource officer at MSD you guys responded fast and prevented further incidents from happening . You officer would of been the Hero we needed and you still are one
@@xzzzz8431 They received reports of an explosion, the first thing they should have done, was a lockdown. You may think this opposite to what should be done in an "explosion" situation, however, lockdowns involve plans for escape and staying put. So initializing a lockdown puts the entire school in the "Ready" state. Also, how the fuck did he get in? I work in a school district, when I go to school buildings that I am not known in, I check in with the office per SOL. However, I get stopped CONSTANTLY, and am asked "Who are you?", "Why are you here", and "let me see your badge" (Badge is my school ID, it is what they call it). These people suck. They didn't do anything they should have, no sense of urgency even. We have had lockdown situations and every staff member is 110% at the ready, performing duties as they go not waiting for some one to hold their hand.
Some how I'm feeling so bad for the shooter. I'm so happy no one was killed and he will hopefully get the help he needs. Thank God no lives were taken. This is so horrible and scary
Remember folks, if you recieve so much trauma from life. And it makes you want to lash out in voilence. Seek mental health immediately, even if you have to tell the truth and be detained by your local ward for treatment. Be the victim never the suspect. Once you cross the line you deserve everything that comes your way
@@taydestiny38 i mean its only a possible shooting incident where there are multiple potential victims within the school that could have also been shot. No biggie really
“I wasn’t raised right” 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Neither was I and I have never shot up a damn school. And I hated my school and was bullied. I just moved tf on and am still working to this day to prove them wrong. Much better feeling than going to jail.
Crazy how every single individual person is different. This guy was probably raised with abuse, neglect, and substances all around him and to him. What he tried to do is fucking disgusting, but for you to compare yourself to him and think it is the same in any way is gross too. I'm glad you turned out healthy, but don't degrade unhealthy people who obviously realized they needed help and got it. Again, what this guy tried to do is devastating just thinking of it, but it was prevented just in time.
not defending him but, being bullied in school is NOTHING compared to living with a family of violent schizophrenic bipolar people. you cant move families like you can move or graduate from school. again not defending him but in a different context its rlly selfish of u to even consider them in the same league at all
Crying while watching this, I have a 3 year old daughter who just started preschool this year and I'm pregnant with my other baby , and I just cannot fathom the future of my two kids lives, having to teach them to be safe and take precautions and me to be absolutely terrified to send them to school or just be in the world and knowing sick people like this exist and have no care for human life. As a mother this breaks my entire heart into two.
@@Is33334 School entrance’s (at least in the part of the U.S. I live in) are always locked and if you’re going in through the main entrance you have to be let in by someone; once inside. A secretary or member of staff at the front desk has to push a button to open another door for you.
@@Is33334ya, my high school is an outside campus, and the gates are locked from the outside. That doesn’t necessarily mean that any human threat can’t climb it though. So yay lucky me am I right?
The school shooter was disarmed by his own sense of mercy when he heard the terrible pain he caused. I hope he gets the help he needs. Should spend more time in therapy and less in prison for willfully surrendering and admitting he wasn't right in the head.
I remember this shooting. I called my sister, my dad, everyone because my family went to another highschool close to this county!! I was very much scared for my niece and nephew!! I hate the fact that we send our children to school and this is what happens is sickening!! I live in a small town and to know that this happens scares me to death!!
You're saying he got all geared up, shot at a door, dropped his gun and walked into a classroom and started talking like an extremely well-behaved person to the cop. WTF
He was obviously not in the correct state of mind when he entered the school, as any school shooter would, and after firing once and hearing the screams of the injured student he snapped out of it and realised the bullshit he was about to do. So he dropped his guns and surrendered himself to a teacher.
143vby Just click on this dudes yt channel. Saying he is too pussy to shoot up the school, that’s ridiculous. This guy just plays too much Call of Duty and thinks he is a damn soldier.
My high school senior class skipped school for the day to attend prom on 4/20/18 here in Texas. Crazy that this was going on at the same time. I don't even remember this even happening.
I'm glad the officer took action instead of the other cops from a different school shooting, 24 cops sat around in a hallway with full body armor while people were screaming and being killed, one officer's wife texted her husband (cop) that she got shot but the husband didn't do anything. I'm glad this officer in this video is taking action and is handling the situation calmly
“Give me sympathy, I only had a fucking loaded 16 gauge sawed off shotgun; this massive fuckin metal blaster of a gun that I fuckin shot at a door, injured a kid, but I surrender. So that’s not that bad come on guys; I only had the desire to kill for a lil bit”
What the video didn't show is the school was prepared and had Tachanka posted up on the turretin the room, he looked in the window and saw our Lord and immediately surrendered. Another day saved by the Chank
Probably fired the shot, heard the kid scream, and decided he wasn't a killer after all. A lotta these shootings are desperate people looking for a solution to their problems via suicide by cop. Kid seems to have lost his nerve immediately, thankfully.
One great thing though, we finally have a school resource officer to run TOWARDS the loud sounds, instead of running outside. Sure, he could use a gym membership, but it doesn't matter how prepared or how fit someone is, if they're not ready to run to danger, they need to resign!
@@DoufWag1000 I did not make any comment to warrant your hostility so I am just going to decide that we don't understand each other. Try not to be so angry.
The weird part is, the officer isn't even mad or anything. He's just confused as to how everyone let this happen. Nobody seemed to have died. I feel bad but the officer's "Are you kidding me?" 8:17 Made me chuckle. It perfectly describes how the officer felt.
I don't know how to put it in words... I am absolutely not excusing his behaviour, he still taught about it and started the execution of his plan to shoot out a school, but I feel some type of disgust and empathy toward that kid. I am frustrated by his action, but happy he realized right away he was wrong. I truly hope more kids would be aware of this and search for help instead of coming to that point. That situation could have been avoided if he talked to someone about his feeling and come forward about the type of environment he grew up. I am just happy there were not more people injured, but my heart still goes out to the mental impact of these students and staff.
bruh there was a school shooting threat at my school for a friday so when i went to school on friday there was barely anyone there so i was like sweet i get to chief in the boys room with no fiends but then someone brought up that someone threatened to shoot up the school and the teacher told them to be quiet about it thats why no one came
Hurt people, hurt people. Pain can make you do some crazy shit, i think at heart hes a nice normal kid, thus why i think after hitting the 1st person he couldnt do it anymore.
Yea I am glad I graduated a while ago cuz I live in Ocala and if he didn’t stop himself no telling how many people he could’ve shot they were all very lucky
@Julian Wright schools are supposed to be trained to be ready to deal with or handle any situation to the best of their ability to protect the students that go there... its not a matter of them being emergency responders or not they are responsible for the kids that go there and it should be completely unacceptable that they had little to no active shooter plan. Obviously this video is old, and all i can hope is they’ve got a better system going
@Julian Wright He's right. It's just how the school system has mandatory drills for fires, tornadoes, earthquakes, and now school shootings. Teachers should be prepared for situations that endagers the school, which includes school shootings. I'm not saying that they should all have pistols and bullet proof vests etc. But training for situations like this and being educated on what to do and what not to do in this situation would be beneficial. You saw the teachers in this video, they were all just standing there, guaking, not knowing wtf to do. Banning autorifles might cause the mass shooting rates to go down, but it definitely isn't going to get rid of it completely. The blackmarket thrives off of gun sales and there are plenty of copycats. People will do crazy shit if they have nothing left to loose, epecially if they don't care about their life or other's.
It's true that most criminals have history or first hand experience with domestic violence etc, but it's not an excuse. He fucking dumb bro, im happy the officer's reaction was caught on camera, because it was the right reaction
@@cassiejanow629 I know right, same here. This kid obviously has some pretty bad issues he needs to address. But yeah that is a horrible reason for shooting somebody 😔
Acts alone? How did the guy get on the floor inside a locked classroom before the officer arrived? How did the weapon get on the floor in the hallway before the officer arrived? All the officer had to do was put the handcuffs on.
They're taking it seriously. They called the deputy. They know that the gun is in the hallway, and the shooter is locked in a separate room lying down on his stomach far away from the gun. The deputy is the only one trying to catch up in a hurry. So, he's naturally going to be the only one who's still excited because he's the only one who doesn't know all the facts yet. Thank you for not blaming this on the teachers, and for realizing that we are watching the school administrators, not teachers, in this video.
@@polythelegendhedron1643 People have choices. They can choose who they want to become and that only happens when they stop blaming others for how they turned out. A younger version of me might have blamed my parents, but who I decide to be has nothing to do with them. Everything to do with me. Despite everything I went through because of them. If I spent my whole life not giving myself a chance because of how my parents parented and how they are, in general, I would be waiving my right to choose better.
absolutely not it’s the exact opposite it’s a grown guy acting like a toddler he graduated a year or two before he’s approaching his 20’s if not already 20
The officer was just astonished by the kids level of honesty, the schools incompetence to prevent this and the staffs calmness over the entire thing. Madness.
@@FrankDaBank25 The teachers were overly calm. When one student has been shot in the ankle and a shotgun was laying in the hallway and still no lockdown has been called, I'd be willing to call that negligence on the school faculty's parts. Even if they still thought it was an "explosion", because that's what the police were originally called for, why would they not lockdown or evacuate the school? Their inaction could have easily cost countless lives, the only reason it didn't was because the shooter fortunately didn't go further than one shot.
Right!?! And at around 17:20ish, the other officer talks about him having this planned since 2013 and that THEY KNEW ABOUT HIS PLANS!?! Yet this was how everyone reacted to something that could have been tragic otherwise!?!
Real talk, he was probably high on adrenaline and just shocked at the whole thing. You know, as humans are with sudden life or death situations. As a trained professional, he can still act though. The teachers are conversely not trained in these things, not enough anyway, which is why they freeze up as you can see in the video.
