I own a 2022 RT for almost 2 years. The mirror "issue" explained by some is very wrong. The b.s about their location, "having to take your eyes off the road" is 100% wrong. The location completely eliminates "dead spots" and to glance at the mirrors is just a glance. I find the location provides the best view compared to many cruisers that necessitate wide angle mirrors stick on to the original mirrors. The electric shield allows you to customize its position to the point that you have no buffering on your helmet and when fine tuning it, you can find a spot where the flow of air supports the weight of your helmet rather than push it onto your head. The kick stand position: after 2 days of riding it, you don't need to look for it and you do it automatically. It's an amazing bike that its limitations are set by the rider. It is very comfortable, safe, agile, sophisticated and fun to ride. Amazing in the twisties and awesome on the highway.

Your comments reflect someone who actually owns the bike.

I have this bike. My second RT. Absolutely the most balanced bike that I've had. Definitely a keeper.

Also my second RT. The FJR was the only other bike I considered, but the RT is so much easier to lean into corners, and the quick-shifter is now standard. As Ken mentioned, the navigation system is wonky and requires an app on your phone. You have to download maps and you can't set a destination from the bike's display unless it is a favorite or recent. Your phone probably won't fit in the compartment while in its case and even though its ventilated, my phone has shut down on hot days. I miss the old Garmin. The app tracks your rides (similar to Rever).

I have a 1993 RT, and ride it everywhere. It is a relaxing ride with a great fairing. I love riding it.

The RTs have always done an exceptional job of providing a great combination of sporting performance, great looks, nimble handling, quality, reliability, and all-day comfort. Perfect for going across continents, or for weekend outings. However, for an everyday bike I prefer the lighter weight, less massive fairing, and more nimble and sporting performance of my BMW R1150-RS. It has many of the features, from ABS to removable BMW Side Bags, but such aspects as an adjustable windscreen, and seat height allow me to tailor it to fit me optimally for the ride I'm on. Not as advanced and lacking in some of the electronic features, but it makes up for it by having a motor I can keep in optimal tune with just basic periodic maintenance I can do myself.

What about the service interval? I have a 2002 1150RT and the valves are supposed to be adjusted every 6000 miles. Kind of a PITA...

Per the owner's manual, the valve clearances are supposed to be checked every 12K miles.

I have a 1100rs, and a 1150gsa, though the valves are scheduled to be checked for the1150 @ 6000, however very simple to do, no fairings have to be removed, no shims like most bikes, usually needs no adjustments. Can't think of any other bike that's this simple.

I have a 2002 R1150-RS. Same engine as yours, and yes the newer bikes have much longer maintenance intervals. HOWEVER, I do my own maintenance and have put 170,000-km between 2 R1150-RS bikes I've owned. (Sold the first for health reasons that are now completely resolved.) What I have found is after the first few service intervals the valve adjustment rarely needs to be touched. Learning to do the service yourself will teach you how to look after your bike, and you'll know it's been done properly. Oil changes should be done at 6,000-mi. but after a few times of finding your valves don't need adjustment you may decide to lengthen that adjustment interval. HOWEVER, the fairing on your RT is more involved to remove, so if you don't mind that extra task you will save a bundle doing your own regular service yourself...

I never hear anyone speak of height in regards to the riders, I'm short 5'5" and I need a commuter and seems to have more bell and whistles than most "baggers". Most baggers are low and can reach the ground but I have yet to sit on one and see if I can reach...

You can lower the seat. There is a notch for that option. No issues for shorter folks with shorter legs. Also you may feel a bit cramped with the seat to peg ratio.

I'm short too and you can order a lower seat you can set at 760 millimètres (30'').

Sorry dudes. The seat sucks. RDL. Ken-1250RT is spot on.
