Hurricane Milton brought devastating rains and damaging winds through the Tampa Bay area, including the iconic Tropicana Field.
Video shows the roof completely ripped off the top of the Trop, exposing the stadium lights and inner workings of the baseball field.

It is not too hot there to play without a roof. The reason you need a roof there is because of the afternoon and evening thunderstorms. That is why Miami built a retractable roof stadium. They kept having rain delays which made their games end too late.

Wait, the trop's roof was of fabric? If so, are you really surprised that it would rip in hurricane force winds? I'm not too smart, but am I missing something?

I honestly didn't know that either! Not sure what I thought it was made of. I knew it was translucent and glowed at night when the lights were on, but I guess I just never thought about it.

I wrote an article on this almost 2 days ago because this is the same style of roof as the Georgia Dome had. It's fiberglass coated in Teflon. Any hit from the eye wall was going to damage or destroy this roof as it could only take max winds of 115 mph.

Georgia Some was hit by a tornado. It tore a few panels off that roof.

MLB Network has caught on camera when the rooftop tearing up in middle of Category 3 Hurricane struck across the Florida state. What if hurricane Milton is already hit WWE Performance Center in Orlando? I hope the WWE PC facility has minor damage during hurry.

And that stupid fla. governor assigned that building to be used as a storm shelter. Can you imagine the ignorance! The roof is essentially made of tent material. DUMB! Thank goodness the people got out before that mismanagement cost them lives.
