Here's a little, lesser known, aircraft by Sweden for self-defence during their WWII neutrality. The FFVS J-22, in service between 1943 and 1952. Its a cheap and perfectly okay kit.
I just got back in to this hobby after a 40+ years break and it's amazing how many makers that pop up on the radar as I familiarize myself with what is what. More to this than Tamiya and Revell it seems. Thanks for the video.
It was very much an emergency stop-gap aircraft I think. One of the schemes is of an example which still exists in the Swedish Aircraft Museum, in Sweden.
I have the re-issue of this which includes a small but decent etched brass fret for cockpit and undercarriage. The decals are exactly the same except they have been reprinted, still by Techmod, and look sharper. Same too-dark blue on the Swedish roundels. I've just dug it out and inspired by this might just have a go at it! Marivox also do a great Saab 17, with 5 decal options (including Finnish, Danish and Imperial Ethiopian) and parts for 3 different versions including a float plane. Many thanks for this video.
Yes I used to have more Marivox Swedish aircraft but had to get rid of a lot of kits for financial reasons before my car was scrapped. I can't really afford the models I have, to be honest with myself.
Interesting subject, especially since the gear doors closed even with the gear extended. Hoping to see your finished build and your thoughts on the assembly itself.
Yes, the Swedish designers knew how to be different. I do like a lot of Swedish aircraft. It may be a while until I get around to building this. Although, considering its size & relatively low part count, I may make it this year.
I think they are a Polish company or the sprue is just made in Poland? They've made quite few unusual Swedish Air Force subjects. That's what brought my attention. This is a re-buy of a kit I sold off years ago.
