i don’t ask often but make sure to drop a comment and a like it really helps me make more of these! - apologies if I missed anything, crunching down 9 years into under an hour was tough!
Her and Embers In ring chemistry was *Chief’s Kiss* Perfect, Io and Candice got close. But never topped Asuka and Ember’s chemistry not saying their bad cuz Io and Candice also had five star matches.
@@davyunwashington3613 the match quality isn’t as good nowadays though, it’s still amazing but not on the level of black and gold era… some of the greatest matches of the 2010s came from nxt during that time
In my opinion, 2018 and 2019 were the best years for the NXT brand. It didn't feel like a developmental brand. It genuinely felt like a third brand. The ring work was top notch and the storytelling was brilliant. NXT 2.0 focuses more on character development, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
@@randellhowardiv8168 exactly, its hard to look at NXT now as just nxt again. Its rlly difficult to try and just go back to the nxt we knew and loved after that very rough spot where Vince Mcmahon took hold of the reigns and destroyed everything everyone loved abt it (in natural Vince McMahon fashion) and now i dont know what to feel abt it but i hope triple h can bring that IT factor back to the brand
NXT black and gold had the best vibe, And the matches during 2018 and 2019 was just spectacular. Andrande vs Gorgano and Revival vs DIY were my favourite NXT matches.
@@antionettawolfe9933and when Keith lee defeated adam cole and become NXT champion alongside Keith Lee hold NXT North America Title Too that match was epic and i literally shocked when Keith lee defeated adam cole
Words cannot describe just how special this era was for us fans. NXT truly had something the main roster was lacking at the time, passion. Everything that was shown, such as storylines, characters, the wrestling, promos, the crowd reactions, everything was nearly perfect. For me and my brother, it was NXT that brought back our passion for wrestling as it gave us so much nostalgia and vibes from our favorite era, Ruthless Aggression. We got some of our most fondest memories during this time, especially from 2016-2020. Truly good times. Absolutely fantastic work on this nostalgic documentary, homie, you nailed it with this one.👍😭
You can't call the first 10 years of something the golden era when it's not much older. That's like having a 5 year old kid and saying these first 5 years were the best
going to those Full Sail shows are some of my favorite memories ever. Such a raw atmosphere. I’ll hold the Black and Gold close to my heart forever man, what a special era
I still never forget Sami Zayn what he did in 2013-2014 that version of sami zayn is my favorite version of Sami Zayn, I hope Triple H brings that Sami Zayn back.
NXT made me come back to wrestling after a while of being lapsed because of the sameness of main roster. NXT TakeOver would always be such a hype night with genuinely some of the best matches I've ever seen. I miss it so much.
What do you mean? All over them did well, but as soon as they went to WWE (Vince's control), they all failed. It wasn't their fault. Now with Hunter running WWE, look at how good WWE is now!
Vince McMahon was the blame for those amazing talents. It is such a relief that he retired. Triple H being the head of creative for the main roster, Stephanie being the new CEO of the company and Shawn Michaels is now running and booking new talent on NXT. I hope 2023 goes back on track to where we can hopefully enjoy the product once again.
Easily the best TV weakly of the 2010s, NXT was always the thing to watch during the dark period of WWE. The matches were amazing, the feuds were amazing, the PPVs quality were amazing. NXT was amazing as a whole.
Nakamura debut slowly led to a transition to making NXT feel like a third brand, but I think the definitive moment was the DIY break up… I watch every PPV match with DIY involved from 2016-2019 and it is one of the greatest story in wrestling history On a side note, if you haven’t checked out NXT right now, it is worth your time, it is super good now, NXT battleground is a stacked card
man i miss black and gold brand, that brand re-ignite my fire for WWE again. their theme slipknot's " all out life " was magical and one lyric screams what NXT is " WE ARE NOT YOUR KIND " that empasize on how different it is from the main roster and how amazing they are
Wow! Thanks for making this. Ive heard of NXT but I no idea how big they were in the late 2010's with all those Takeovers. I only started watching in 2019 and had no idea about all the great history. Thank you once again!
I didn’t watch nxt much from 2012-2015. But the second half of 2015-2020 nxt was amazing. The takeover shows were always better than the main roster ppv the next night
There are three versions of NXT: Game Show, Black & Gold, 2.0 Developmental. I honestly love each version but the Black & Gold/Indie Era is by ar the best. reason of NXT is basically the best show on WWE programming
Seeing this brings up so many great memories. Beeing the only guy at school who watches wrestling and always looking forward to the nxt takeovers even weeks/months in advance, beeing completely invested in what they showed every wednesday. Truly the greatest time of my childhood. R.I.P. Black and Gold and thank you Tripple H.
This type of content is actually amazing! I loved every moment of this video. this is why I keep coming back. You never fail to impress me with the amount of work you put into these videos. Keep it up!
I went from not knowing what NXT was around Wrestlemania 33… slowly but surely I would see wrestling highlights and became intrigued with this company with a black mat and gold ropes… took me some time to find the logo on the turnbuckle… after that the rest was history… NXT became my favorite wrestling show to watch every Wednesday then every Tuesday and once 2.0 came it was never the same. So much Lightning was caught into a bottle. From Undisputed Era, to Bobby Roode, to WarGames, just so much greatness for something that was treated as a developmental brand.
So many incredible memories that its easy to forget or overlook a lot of them, its crazy the amount of greatness in a such a short period of time. Never thought one day I would be proudly saying that I was able to experience prime NXT. I wish we all knew back then that history was being made in front of our eyes with black and gold NXT.
My favorite era in wrestling. 2015-2019 NXT along with the rise in NJPW and creation of AEW from 2017-2019 made for such a special time in terms of match quality, storytelling, and crossover feeling prior to the pandemic.
NXT made me love wrestling again and introduced me to lots of talent i never heard of before and got me interested in the indie circuit. I will always regret not watching the program the first couple years or not subscribe to the network to watch
No mention of Enzo & Cass makes this video S-A-W-F-T SAAAAAWFT! For real, thanks for the bringing up some great memories. Instead of making the 100th version of the documentary on the NWO, WWE should be making docs on NXT rivalries, history and characters.
I know how popular 2018 & 2019 NXT is amongst everyone, but personally to me, NXT has not been quite the same since the Sami/Bayley era. That place felt like genuine magic when they were around, it's not quite felt the same since then.
I just got back into Wrestling after the 2024 Rumble after watching thru the early ruthless aggression era. This is a great recap for those of us that haven’t watched anything in decades.

Thank you for this amazing video brother. I had stopped watching all of pro wrestling and completely missed black and gold. This was highly educational.
Shout out to Sasha Banks ❤ that takeover match randomly found its way to me & reignited my love for women’s wrestling. I hadn’t been that invested in a women’s match in awhile & I stopped watching around the AJ Lee/Kaitlyn era.
One thing very underrated that will always resonate with NXT gold was CFO$, say what you want but i really really love their work they literally made every wrestler look like a megastar with their unique themes
I know this sounds weird, but Triple H and Dusty Rhodes had/raised a lot of children from NXT to WWE. 😂 He honestly should be extremely proud for successfully raising the next generation of talent. I haven’t watched wrestling since 2014(?), but I do pick up some news here and there, and I recognize ALOT of these names/talent. It’s honestly ridiculous.
While i wasn't that invested on alot of the guys during this era, i cant deny that their PPV work was truly top tier..arguably the best in the biz when it comes to that department imo
I started watching NXT during Bo Dallas’s title reign. For me, the biggest debuts were Samoa Joe and Asuka. The very first TNA PPV I ever got was Samoa Joe’s first TNA match and I bought the PPV just to see him wrestle AJ Styles. Seeing him squandered in TNA was heartbreaking. And Asuka was already my favorite female wrestler of all time at that point. I discovered her in like 2009 or 2010 when she was KANA in Japan and I watched everything I could find of her. She was just next level. So when she debuted in NXT, I freaked out.
I see someone saying it was literally the golden days of NXT? No, it was literally the golden days of modern WWE even! They had nothing on NXT.. And it rivals anything that was happening since 2000 to let us say 2010. Now my own comment.. I just want to say we used to see Wrestling those days; I will never forget it, and it also means a lot to me that I was watching since the very first day of 'seasons' where the likes of Johnny Curtis were some of my favourites until it turned into what we see here. I was there, every step of the way! 🙌🙌🙌🤞😒🇿🇦
What an amazing video you put together of the Golden years of NXT. I really miss the magical moments of NXT. The newer version isn't that bad but nothing can compare to that of those awesome years prior to 2.0.
Man Great video and to how much NXT resonated, i still remember every single thing that went tru, I'm sad that i had stopped watching about 2 years ago now and its been hard to go back and connect with it. But that's wrestling in gerenal bit by bit I'm watching all the other shows like i normally would, thanks in part to Triple H. Nxt was special
It's a shame that wwe buried most the roster from nxt's early years like bo dallas, the ascension, and neville went being champions in nxt to jobbers on the main roster in only a year or two. Also tyler breeze deserved better, he went from wrestling jushin thunder liger to jobbing to dolph ziggler in only 3 months.
NXT Black and Gold era was a best time for nxt. Perfect Storylines, Awesome Matches, Shocking Moments Everything was so good. And for me main highlight of Nxt Black and gold era was the matches, some matches i want to listed below 1) Johnny Gargano vs Tomasso Ciampa 2) Adam Cole vs Johnny Gargano 3) Aleistar Black vs Adam Cole 4) Johnny Gargano vs Andrade 5) Johnny Gargano vs Ricochet 6) Wargames 2019 Team Ciampa vs Undisputed Era 7) Finn Balor vs Kyle O Reilly 8) Adam Cole vs Kyle O Reily 9) Sami Zayn vs Shinsuke Nakamura 10) DIY vs Revival
