I'm currently 23 but when I was 18 I bought a 65 dodge dart for my first car. Its the 270 model with the 225 Slant Six, but its the hardtop just like yours with power steering! These old cars are so much fun to drive and honestly pretty reliable. Just gotta keep up with the maintenance, that's a must. I've put roughly 56,000 miles on it since I bought it and its still running great.
My grandfather bought a red 65 GT 273 4 on the floor new and had the top painted black before it left the dealership.The “Charger” air filter housing is correct for the 273. He had an AC unit added below the dash. The car is still pristine with 40k miles. The only thing not original is the American racing rims but we still have the originals.
I've got a survivor 65 needs little work 273 Charger engine and dog dishes.Running driving car and everything works.Complete gonna be my daily driver next spring as is.May restore it one day.And yes,it runs very well.
Sorry to burst your bubble buddy. The 1965 Dodge dart charger is a real car. I'm not saying someone didn't put a charger engine in or dress your engine to look like the Dart charger. All of the Charger darts were white and had charger emblems on the car itself. Nice car but not a Charger dart.
He does get his Dart GT confused with the rare Dart Chargers, true. But the Charger 273 engine is the Dodge cousin to Plymouth’s Commando 273 plant of the same year. That is legitimate. Also, most Dart Chargers were yellow with a black vinyl top.
I personally owned a yellow 65 Dart Charger GT. It had the landau roof and special Crager mags and Charger emblems. That was in 1971 before the cars were being restored and modified by the uninformed. His looks to be a standard GT.
Got my '65 Plymouth Valient convertible while in Air Force in 1972 with 273 V8 Commando, 4-speed. Slapped 14 inch rims on it and would outrun my buddies Chevelles, Novas and Olds in the quarter mile easy. Best little factory Hot Rod I ever had. Miss it.
Hey dude, nice job on dart resto! But you obviously weren't around when it was built cause if you went to a Honda dealer in '65 you would've been able to buy a Honda moped or a Honda 160 bike!! The Civic didn't arrive till the '70s, and your 'accord' didn't arrive until late '78 or '80! So in '65 you'd have bought a defy chevelle, Pontiac GTO Olds 442' Ford mustang or Fairlane!!! Do a little research before you show your lack of knowledge guy!!!!!
