A look Inside Berlin's Museums! 

The experience of visiting these museums in Berlin is mind boggling - the Ancient Roman structures overwhelmed me. And that gate!!!!

Wow ! So many splendid things to take in, in particular the stunning last museum with the lion tiled wall and the lapis lazuli gate. Your enthusiasm is catching, I am definitely planning a long weekend in Berlin at Christmas.

Absolutely stunning! Considering the bits you have shown us, the coming documentaries will be amazing! Yes, Filippo touched on a difficult topic: the acquiring of artifacts by means that we no longer consider appropriate. It is very complicated and is with out easy answers. The taking of another culture's heritage is inherently wrong, but the fact that these things were saved and are able to be seen by so many, also preserves the very heritage they were taken from.

When I lived in Germany, everyone wore a gold chain necklace with a gold Nefertiti head...and most of the people I talked to had never been to the museum or knew anything about her. I loved all of the museum highlights that you filmed. Thanks for sharing!

As a Berliner and museologist, I regularly visit the museums, especially my favourites (Altes Museum & Neues Museum) and I absolutely agree with you, I would save Tiye too. I personally find her even more beautiful and impressively crafted than the Nefertiti bust, unfortunately it tends to be passed over by many. Oh yes, one should inform oneself beforehand about which museums one wants to visit! A few years ago, when Beyoncé was in Berlin to give a concert, she turned up at the Bodemuseum (with a huge escort & hoo-ha, of course) and wanted to see Nefertiti... someone must not have done their homework. In the museums, colleagues still laugh heartily about it to this day 🤣🤣🤣 It would be understandable to look for Cleopatra in the Neues Museum, but that was very absurd. (For all who don´t know the Museums, the Bode Museum contains mainly Byzantine art, in the Neues Museum is the Egyptian collection, including Nefertiti and in the Altes Museum is the antiquities collection with Etruscan, Greek and Roman objects, where you also find Cleopatra). Oh yes, the Ishtar Gate is incredibly impressive and also the temples in the Pergamonmuseum! Thanks again for this great vlog. It was very special for me because I know the museums so well myself. And it was great that you were able to visit the depots of the Gipsformerei! I am very excited about the upcoming documentaries! Edit: Because it's coming up a lot in the comments: Most of the objects were acquired through excavations with contracts and permits, some are bought or given to electors. Definitely not all. And even with purchases & excavations, the countries of origin were often overreached in the past (as with Nefertiti). Nobody in the museum world in Germany I talked with denies this or thinks it's okay. But the idea that the Germans only stole everything from everywhere is factually wrong, there are contracts for most (definitely not all) objects and the museums are constantly working hard to identify and return the objects that were actually stolen, such as recently the Benin bronzes and many other objects from various cultures. It is a work-intensive, complicated and slow process that will continue for a long time. Were the contracts of the past fair? No. Are they therefore worthy of discussion? Definitely! Does that make the objects stolen because certain objects are now given much more importance by the countries of origin than they were 100 years ago when these contracts were concluded? Not according to today´s legal understanding. Would it be better if we could finally come to a fair agreement with the countries of origin and get these things out of the way? Definitely! Nice vlog & I look foreward to the next one & the documentaries.

Hi CR. Stephanie will like the Spode plates. Filippo is right they stole everything in many places. I love the wall with the Lions. When I get my Palace, I will have a wall built like that ☺The Lapis gate is huge and so beautiful. The Buddhist gate to the dojo is wonderful. Thanks for the tour CR it was great. The people back in those days didn't have the tools builders have today but all the things they did build are so much more beautiful. I think we like seeing all that because it's a reminder of our past lives. Ciao 🙏🙏🙏

I visited Pergamon 1995 and 2005 or so. This video shows it very nicely and new museum which opened recently. I would like to go back to Berlin.

Berlin Museum highlights fantastic beautiful egyptian pieces the Ishtar gate is soo amazing and yes there is a lot of lapis. It is on my bucket list to visit some of Berlin's Museum, I think I might know of the piece that you got from the Gipsformerei place It looks like the small head of Queen Tiye that Flinders Petrie found in the Sinai. I have a book on the Masterpiece from the Gipsformerei that has some beautiful piece in it.

A great tour and I appreciate Phillipo expressing the fact that the Germans stole these ancient works. Mind blowing if you think about the removal of the all the lapis tile and reassembling them. I have just been following you since seeing your 3 part documentary on Egypt and have been taken away by your life in Italy and your family vlog. I have watched most of your films. I'm sure looking forward to your next documentary film. I can't wait to see it because you've got me curious to see the statue in the Berlin museum that you would not share in your latest vlog. You mentioned Iran in your last vlog post. Have you been there? I went there many years ago and saw the Shahs palace in Tehran. It is amazing. There is also huge building in Massad which they light up at night which is about worth the price of the tickets to Iran.

Thanks for showing us this beauty But you said it was a good thing that this part of a sumerian Palace was stolen I don't thing it was a great job because it was part a of my culture, my persian culture which I respect the most As I should mention the fact that we persians really do take care of our culture and too bad we cant see a part of it in our country

Did they still it ? Centuries ago there were no protections in place for such things and they were often sold in the markets much like the vase you found in the brocante. If you asked the Germans of the time I think they would say they were preserving the artifacts to be shared with the world. Much like the priest / curator who sent Stephanie a kings ransom in Native American jewelry , I believe the Indian tribes feel their heritage has been stolen.

I would save Nefertiti,Tiy & Hemuno & return it back home
