A look through a LEGO 1987 mini-catalog! 

I remember a store here in Canada called Consumers. We would get this jumbo catalog and it was hours and hours of looking at the pictures and just imagining and dreaming of the toys. LOL

classic castle is my favorite theme. I think it's because they all have the smiley face and look reallly cute. So cute I don't like to make them fight each other, I just have them in my layout peacefully drinking beer and eating turkey.

Holy crap Jang, this brings so much nostalgia. Now i'm only 17 years old, but luckily my parents had friends whose children lived through the 80s and they gave me all their old sets. This one was of the things I got and I kept looking at it over and over again when I was an eight year old. Thank you so much for putting this video up and letting me experience this. I remember now how badly I wanted these sets, especially the big rig truck stop, and now then I get sad how I was never able to obtain it. I still love Lego to this day but I started to slowly back away as I got older and now just last September I purchased myself a new Lego AT-AT walker because of how much I love the original Star Wars, building it was so much fun and I plan on buying the Imperial Star Destroyer and finally the Super Star destroyer! But I need to get some money first.... Anyways, thanks again! Keep it up! I love the videos!

There has been speculation as to whether Susan Williams was an actual person or just a personification of the mail order team at LEGO as a whole. Either way, she'll always be real to me.

hella nostalgic. I remember being a kid and getting the lego catalogs, just like this one, in the early 90s full of great stuff.

Oh so many memories bubble up from this.. I have several sets from that catalog, the train set and train station set... The Shell service station, the motor speedway set and a few other smaller sets.. Good times.....

Thats a trip through history. .. I had several of those sets....wow. still have the pieces for some of them. I can remember when blacktron came out, the pirates, the new space line...kids today dont realize how sweet Legos are now.

My scool/kindergarden had really old legos. I remember those minifigs without a face or arms. The arms were stuck in the body, the legs are like a flower pot. I love old legos!

I had the 6634 Stock car, The 6502 Turbo Racer, 6677 Motocross Racing,I think that was my first Lego motorcycle set. 6659 TV Camera Crew, the 6687 Turbo Prop I, 6612 Fire Chief's car, 6802 Space Probe, 6883 Terrestrial Rover, 6820 Starfire I, 6827 Strata Scooter, the 6845 Cosmic Charger, the 6066 Camouflaged outpost, the 6012 Siege Cart, 6062 Battering Ram, the 4010 Police Rescue Boat, and the 7722 4.5v train set. This catalog was so my childhood.

The way that you describe the Technic figures as experiments, makes it sound like they were only produced for like three years, when in reality they lasted from 1986 to 2001.

I wish they would sell some of their old baseplates now. I wouldn't mind buying just the police station and service station baseplates, as well as the space spaceplate, if they sell it in LEGO stores.

Until 1999, LEGO included the cost of shipping in the price they listed for items for sale from them directly.

Soo much nostalgia. I can remember that me or my brother had the following sets: 6480, 6381, 6698, 6521, 6368, 6931, 6872, 6074, 6035, 4010, 8852 and 8660. Man I want to build these again

Going on 40 this was a nice trip down memory lane for me. I had many of the space, town and castle sets in here. I still buy LEGO but pretty much just stick to the Architecture and Ideas lines. Sets that look good on a shelf.

You should check to see if that PO box is still own by LEGO and send in the mail order form just to see what will happen. Maybe get your kids to fill the form out.

I really liked those Blacktron vehicles with the Tri-Force logos.

I would love to see you do more old castle and forestmen sets

I have the 2655 Farm seen on the Duplo page! My parents still got it so my cosins children can play with it when visiting!

When I was in 5th grade we had these Lego education kits that let you build tons of different thing.

My dad passed down a lot of town and classic space and even castle to me :D

Cool hint: Duplo makes for great filler (ie: under mountains and backgrounds). Fills it up fast with less bricks

Hi Jan. The technic figures you say did not last. They were actually used all the way op to the late 90's ;-) The cybermaster series was the last time I saw them.

Darn! I was more into boys that year! Coulda got some nice sets! lol

I've got some old lego things, like old cogs big red or tiny yellow. Or litterly rubber blocks.

I was born in the 90's the 80's must of been a big era.

Duplo 2649 sea explorer i remember that one and and duplo the airport building set hahaa great stuff. Lego 6392 airport i think i have the plane got it once as a gift, i have disembled it but i also rebuild by just looking at a catalog :) This year i baught several classic space and city sets from the 1987s good stuff [The best Lego for me= 1978-1997+- sets]

I have got the mini-catalog from 1990 and the catalog from 1995. The 1995 catalog was the first one of todays catalog. I have also got the idea book from 1990 www.docstoc.com/docs/46930022/LEGO-1990-260-1-Idea-Book. Its very funny to read sometimes and get some ideas out of it :P.

It is sad that all thought the 80s had the good stuff plus there was no American release of the 12v sets just one 4.5v set. I have the police station from the catalog.
