Just wanted to say thank you guys a ton for the love on this video. I totally did not expect it to get this many views. I'm 100% working on putting out more videos. I wanna try doing more general gaming stuff, but expect to see more Pokemon stuff in the future as well. Remember to subscribe and check out my other videos if you enjoyed! Thanks so much! - Ember
You know this is where Pokémon peaked because it feels like it’s a fan game with too much effort and being too extra given the current state of Pokémon. So many custom and situational art, music, and events.
To answer your question: The King who wore this Relic Crown was the ancestor of N. In the Abyssal Ruins there is a riddle which reveals that the King in the old times had the same name as N: "Harmonia"
@@EmbersJournalFrom what I remember they are also related to AZ from Kalos who has a palace with a Reshiram and Zekrom statue and a strong bond with Pokémon
beating this game made me cry as a 14 year old. N's speech, the music, the abrupt cut away to that INCREDIBLE music after he says farewell...man. good times. fantastic video, keep em coming!
Oh I cried too I cried too when I farmed for hours against level 33 wild pokemon from normal grass and level 38 from the tall one while it seems like I needed to upgrade my pokemon to level 50 with NO TRAINER REMATCHES for like no reason in this game and in the end I needed to somehow beat N with his level 50s and Ghetsis with his level 53s (I had overall a level 46 team) It's all good though I won with no switches no items during battle becuz I was amadeus with my team This was the saddest thing I remember 😢
I remember the first experience with Pokemon that I can remember. Funny enough it was also with Pokemon Black version: I remember seeing all of the commercials promoting the games on tv, from the ones to introduce the starters to the one where it talks about getting Victini in n Liberty Garden for a limited time. I had becomes so excited/hyped for the games that whenever my family would go out to dinner, I would always watch MunchingOrange’s playthrough of the games at our dinner table. One day when we came home from East Side Mario’s, my sister and I both walked back to our respective rooms and found one copy of Black or White waiting for us on our dressers (I was given Black while my sister received White). Although I didn’t really understand the whole plot or story of the games from my very first playthrough of the game, time and time again I would go back to replay it and see how marvellous and impactful that elements, such as the story and characters, really had become to grown-up me. To see only truth in your life would mean nothing if not for also looking toward what you could idealize for yourself. If you can combine what you want with what should be then your life can and will show more colour to you than simply just Black or White. The characters, story, setting, and especially the music have helped me to grow up over the years, and I play these fifth generation Pokemon games religiously in a way to make sure I can appreciate it as much as the last time I had played it. This was a beautiful retrospective love letter to the games that essentially brought new life into me. I agree with you, and thank you for sharing your story with us as well 💚🧡🩵 🖤🤍
Thanks bro! I think it's one of the coolest parts of these games how we didn't understand the story much as kids, but as we got older we come to realize just what it meant.
I like how your parents got both you and your sister each version of the game... They could have given you both the same version, or they could have just given you the one game and had you share it, but nope! Its such a small thing, but its just so cool.
I love N so much, he’s one of my 3 favorite characters (alongside Lucina from FE Awakening & Morgana from Fata Morgana), I’m glad to see how much you focused on his role in the story & how he is even a bit hypocritical at times. Great video man
Pokémon White was my first Pokémon game, but funnily enough, it wasn’t the first one I finished because of how it stopped working before I got the chance to finish it The first Pokémon games I’d play and finish were Black, Y, and Omega Ruby though I don’t remember the order I finished them in One thing I do remember is always wanting to play White again so that I could battle N with Zekrom at my side for the first time, sure this may seem like a minor detail to most but it mattered a lot to me for a while which gave my subsequent playthroughs of Black a tragic element to them That was until I finally got the chance to buy another copy of White recently and the experience I had playing it made me feel like a kid again even though I already played Black multiple times before it Best of all was when I finally got to the cutscene where Zekrom awakens in N’s castle, that moment was so magical to me and I was overjoyed to finally have Zekrom at my side, sure N wrecked us with Reshiram’s hyper beams multiple times, but Zekrom managed to win the battle of the dragons after I taught him Dragon Claw From an objective standpoint, I could say that gen 5 is the best one because of how innovative it was and the many risks it took like making sequels and only having Unova Pokémon in the main story in the first games, but that wouldn’t be my truth My truth is that ever since finishing Black, I have always held onto the ideal of getting White and finishing it for my childhood and most of my teen years which I have finally reached after all this time And now that I brought Zekrom to Black 2, I plan on finishing the black tower and on defeating Challenge Mode Iris with him at my side
Technically Snivy was my first pokémon but 7-year old me didn't know about saving game data, so when I had to restart I decided to go with Tepig, and ever since Emboar is still my favorite pokémon.
Thank you for your retrospective. I get tired of seeking insightful, self aware essays about the games I love only to find a novelization of the plot. This is the content I'm looking for.
I feel the love for these games through you, and it’s so relatable. The story is emotional, the music transcends time, and the region itself holds so much wonder and joy to its own lore in both location and people. It’s so fun, and while Black and White weren’t my first games, it certainly holds my heart as a place I call home in Pokémon. 💕 Excellent video! #GladImHere
Just... wow. I have no words for this video. Just pure perfection. I grew up with this game and it made me love this franchise so much. This game is very special, because not only the vibes, the pokemon and the story are awesome, it is also, just like you see so many of them in the game, the bridge between my childhood memories and my sweet bonds with Pokemon as a teenager. As I grow more and more, the feeling never fades, it keeps its righteous place in my heart. Serperior was my favorite for a very long time, after being bested by only Milotic. He's still the very first Pokemon I got, the first I travelled with, the first who made me fall in love with Pokemon. Black and White is peak, and will never crumble as long as we are here to remember it.
Yeah, the music of BW deserves a special shoutout, not only is it one of the best soundtracks in the series, the way music is subtly weaved throughout the entire region, from the seasonal variations, to having musicians scattered throughout most locations literally affecting the game music as you get close to them, is just beautiful.
While Gen 3 was the gen I started with, nothing could have prepared me for how strongly I felt about Gen 5, even less with how much I cried once I was done playing and I remember how crushed I felt seeing the game so bashed and utterly trashed on when I went to look online. So, now that people are seeing the genuinely good parts of this game and how well it has aged and how fun a lot of the pokemon from that gen were, the rivals were good and due to being a small amount of people you never had the problem of seeing almost nothing of either, N being an antagonist but still being an interesting and in the end a genuinely nice person made me love him (as a son,) Ghetsis made me hate him for all the stuff he did, the gym leaders going up to help you in the end made me bounce in joy because you can tell they are ready to protect their home and the pokemon in it. There's a lot in this game to love.
Black and White will always hold a special place for me not only due to the story, all of the new pokemon (many of which remain as my favorites even today), the smoothness of the battling and animations, the impeccable musical themes, but because of the time in which I got it. I was in 3rd grade at the time and it was one of the last gifts my mom ever got me before she passed away not long after and looking back at the story of black and white now as an adult, I feel like it resonates with what I needed as a kid at that time. Great video man, keep it up!
I love Pokemon Black and White so much. I genuinely believe that if BW got a remake exactly like BDSP then it would still be a good game, that’s how much I like this story and region. One thing I’ve noticed is how the theme of Black and White mixing to become Gray is everywhere in the story. If you play Black, you catch the White legendary and vice versa. I love this. ❤❤❤ Thank you.
@@joeyburkhart6602 agreed. I mean BDSP weren’t very good remakes at all, but I still absolutely enjoyed them since at the end of the day they were still Sinnoh games. The same would go for Unova. Thanks for checking out the video :)
This was such a great watch, thanks for giving love to my favorite generation of all time. It was so weird to me that some people didn't like that there were no previous generation Pokemon (until way later). To me it was so cool because I could focus solely on what B/W's dex had to offer, and it did not disappoint.
This was my very first generation. I've had friends who were into pokemon during elementary school, but I never got into it, but it planted the seeds of me getting into pokemon. A different friend got me into pokemon when I was in middle school with my first game being pokepark 2 and then I got white as my first mainline game. This will always be my favorite pokemon game and generation.
It's crazy that you and I have a similar history with Pokemon as I started with the Mystery Dungeon before playing Platinum and Diamon later on. And then a year or so later, Pokemon Black and White showed up at my doorstep and it was just the best there was. LIke this is the peak of Pokemon for a reason. Great story, perfect gameplay, the animation and scaling. It was aweinspiring.
Having my school friends play the Gen 4 games and having the cards while I had no idea of the Pokemon world, I was introduced to this franchise but it wasn't until my father bought handed me White after a work trip that I got to experience my very first pkmn game. I was thrilled, even got to participate in the Victini event in my first playthrough (i caught it either a net ball haha). I spent an ungodly amount of hours, even got my party and some other of my favorite pokemon to lv.100. kinda even teared up when the music of some towns was played. I will never forget that game, so many good memories...
Samurott is my fav! :D and thank you for covering black & white! its by far the best pokemon game that I played and stopped because the other versions after that weren't my cup of tea.
so great that you made this , even thou i havent played the black/white2 titles , i always feel these original ones get overshadowed by them and i love these , they have my favourite moment in all of gaming!
My first Pokemon game was a corrupted Soul Silver copy that never saved. I would just play the beginning over and over again and I liked it. Then Black and White came out and that was my true first Pokemon experience. The music is still so good
I love Emboar so much! Its design is amazing and I loved putting him in hat and belt and perform in the Musical. I have replayed White ever since with Serperior and Samurott, but Emboar remains my number 1 Unova starter. Amazing video and even made me tear up a bit. White was the first Pokémon game I bought with my own money and it was a very special morning when my mom woke me up to tell me it had just been delivered to our house.
Thank you for summarizing my entire childhood. I got pokemon black with the special edition DSI and along side my very first pokemon and starter snivy. This was a beautiful video, nailed everything perfectly.
I'm a little more than halfway thru my first playthrough of Black and I'm loving the ride so far. One thing that I adore is how they designed N. Not only is he cool and has some nice depth and development, but it's little things like him not having a permanent team that add to his allure. He catches Pokemon in whatever city he's in then releases them when he moves on, such an awesome detail
Just bought Pokémon white for my 3ds a few weeks ago, about 10 hours in and it’s so much funnnn, I grew up with gen 5 but never got to play the game till now and its so amazing
I don't think that Gen 5 _need_ a remake, but I would definitely love to see one. If they do it correctly, it would be nice to see the scale of the cities, bridges, and castles in 3D with great camera angles. I personally think a Legends game is scarier to me because I wouldn't want the risk of them messing up the origins of Genisect, the Ancient Society, the two kings, or the 3 legendaries combined. I don't want a mysterious and cool part of the original games to be recontextualized in a way that makes them less engaging where remakes pose no risk because it's either good, or its not and you still have the originals.
Man this was such a nostalgia trip, my first Pokémon game was emerald, but black and white were the first ones I truly loved. The story, characters, music, all of it is amazing. Gen 5 was seriously underrated back in the day, but I’m glad to see it get the love it deserves. Also loved the clone wars references in your Pokémon nicknames.
@@joepoppleton7614 Thank you so much that means a lot! I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to watch ill definitely be making more videos :)
yes king i got pokemon white version for my 5th birthday, i unfortunately loss the og cartridge for it but i have the fondest memories of it, this game will always hold a special place in my heart
I remember when I was five and turned on my big grey brick of a game boy to play Pokémon blue and being transported into that magical world. It’s been a while. I’m going to pop Pokémon white in my ds and dive back in.
The intro to this video like sent me back in time lmao because my introduction was practically the exact same: friend gave me a pokemon card and I started collecting them, got a ds and pokemon mystery dungeon as my true introduction on Christmas, then got X later on. Even with gen 6 being my introduction to the mainline series, gen 5 and unova are definitely my favorite and probably always will be and have been for some time even when the internet hated it. The messages and story it pushed along with the easy to see love and passion put into the gen’s games all delivered with one of the best pokemon sound tracks really solidify it as pokemon peak.
Unova was my fifth Pokemon region (I know I'm old) and it felt at the time, to me, like a breath of fresh air. i had graduated high school in 2010, and so it holds a special place in my heart because it was like Pokemon and I were entering into new stages together. i loved meeting the new Pokemon and not being allowed to rely on my old favorites, iirc they showed Zebstrika in the lead up to release and I immediately knew I wanted one. the story of the two games is what I had hoped the games would continue to be, morality questions and dark undertones alike. N's story really touched me. I may have started my adventure with Pokemon in Kanto, but Unova will always be my favorite.
@@EmbersJournal The Clone Wars is absoulutely amazing, the episode with Fives Echo and Hevy is especially so, Fives is one of the alltime great characters from Star Wars entirely because of that episode. What a way to remember it too haha
I loved BW from tge beginning and once NEVER changed my mind about it. I always considered it the peak of Pokemon. Never understood the hate. Using nothing but new Pokémon never bothered me. Hell, i even enjoyed the BW Anime! It was like a refresh of the OG Pokémon anime. I was disappointed that we weren't getting BW remakes next year. Yet another kick in the butt for some of us Gen 5 fans!
Glad your video was recommended to me! I saw the title and watched the whole thing. It's my favorite generation! Volcarona is my favorite Pokémon. Going back in the games is such a vibe. Recently, I even hunted my very first shiny Volcarona in those games. The Black and White end credits theme is sooooo good! Thanks for sharing!
Shoutout to my favorite generation. This game took my breath away when I first played Black and White. I can very distinctly remember seeing a poster of Kyurem Black/White for the sequels and my cousin and I were FREAKING OUT. It was without a doubt the coolest thing we had ever seen.
The time that you got black and white, I got it the same year but during my birthday. And I have to agree black-and-white is one of the best generations and also Always be my favorite. I’m finally glad I found a video where someone actually admires it!
Black and White are such special games for me. Idk if I’d call them favorites per se, but they are my first fully new generation pokemon games I followed the release hype for as it released on ye olde Pokemon and ontd_pokemon LiveJournal communities. I also got to go to my first pokemon tour event for this game with my then boyfriend, and we got to see the Zoroark movie in a movie theater and before then, the audience broke out into singing the original Pokemon theme. I dressed up as Team Rocket!Lyra from HGSS and carried my own Espeon plush and had a mock battle with some kids (which I threw bc I’m not a monster lol) and the aforementioned boyfriend bought me a Reshiram plushie I still own even after that relationship fizzled out. I also cross-stitched my first nerdy design of N’s VS sprite! The generation overall has a lot of fond memories for me, and I deeply treasure it. The music of Village Bridge also has actual lyrics in Japanese! I had a post about it on tumblr ages ago with the translation. It didn’t take off like I’d hoped but it was still fun to put together. :3
I cannot BELIEVE how small your channel is for the sheer quality of this video. I started with the Sinnoh region, but Unova is my favorite across the board. And I love watching retrospectives for it. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective as someone who came to the franchise a bit later! There's not a lot of people talking about this game who started *after* generation 3.
@@enbyhyena thanks so much for watching! It was a ton of fun to put together and I’m totally gonna be making some more pokemon videos in the future as well as just some general gaming content. Maybe I’ll do one on Sinnoh!
diamond was my first ever pokemon game, but pokemon white was the first pokemon game i ever experienced from beginning to end. the memories i have from that game are irreplaceable
It’s really great to see other people who love and appreciate Generation 5 so much. Easily my favorite one even all those years later. You just gained a new subscriber, looking forward to see more from you! :)
These weren't my first Pokemon games, but they have always hit me hard. I remember checking Serebii every day when I was allowed to have some time on the computer to see if there were any new leaks or other news about the upcoming games. I was always rolling my eyes at the designs of the new Pokemon, but I've really grown to love or at least appreciate most of them. When I finally got the games, it was right when my family was traveling to Europe for a few weeks to see family, and my brother and I were each given a copy when we boarded the plane. I immediately got started, and I made it all the way to Castelia before my DS ran out of battery and I had to wait to continue. I had seen most of the Pokemon in advance, so I had planned out what I wanted my whole first team to be. Serperior, Gigalith, Palpitoad, Darmanitan, Unfezant, and Zebstrika. To this day, my favorite part of the whole game is the area from Nacrene City to Skyarrow Bridge, including Pinwheel Forest. It feels like you're finally at the end of the beginning of the game, and that the whole region is about to open up for you. It feels separate from the rest of the game in the best way, and Nacrene and the 'outside' section of Pinwheel feel so cozy when you know how much is still to come. It doesn't hurt that Pinwheel Forest has such an awesome design, with the main paved route through the middle as well as the small and winding side path through the trees. The lake inside is also just perfect to make it feel like it's a damp, cool forest. Then you come out the end, and immediately get the perspective shift of the little viewing area before the bridge and are just blown away by how grand it is. I've never felt that feeling in any other area. Truly amazing memories of a fantastic game. Thank you for making this video.
I had older siblings so I was grandfathered into Gen 1 and 2, with 3 coming out when I was little. But Unova will always be where my heart is. I think the difference between the nostalgia for Gen 1 and the nostalgia for Gen 5 is that Gen 1 reminds us of something that is forever gone. The wonder and the freedom of that time will never come again. Generation five reminds us of that same passing away of innocence, but asks us what we are going to do next with the rest of our lives. We join N in the shattering of our understanding of how the world is and are encouraged to journey on and find our Truth, even if it means returning to sacrifice what is precious to us for the good of the next generation.
Gen 5 has Anways been my favorite gen, it wasnt my first pokemon game, but it was the first time that i was completely immersed by a pokemon game, the artstyle, only gen 5 avaliable pokemon, the characters, story, music, it was all so captivating and charming. Im so glad my favorite gen is getting so much love and recognition, it is definitely the pokemon title with the most heart
Pokémon Black was my first game in the series. It’s hard to put it into so few words but I will forever love gen 5 with all my heart. It’s a lot of nostalgia yes, but the story, Pokémon, mechanics (like season) and world building of Unova are truly one of a kind. They really made something truly special and it will take a lot for Gamefreak to ever top it for me.
White 2 was my first ever Pokémon game. I remember being stuck on the Team Plasma ship in the Driftveil city docks lol. I chose Oshawott and I usually pick mostly water starters with a few exceptions. Reshiram will always be my favourite Legendary and ever since playing White 2, introducing me to the Pokémon franchises - it saved my childhood and teenage years. I'll forever be grateful for that. ❤
I remember getting this for either my birthday or Xmas when i was young when i was still in second grade. But the memories of black and black 2 will always make up some of my dearest core childhood memories; of fond rosey glasses and a joyous curious heart.
I'm in a weird position when it comes to Pokemon nostalgia, in my eyes, Gen 5 is my generation. It's the one the series was in when Pokemon became popular with my year at school, I loved watching the anime and collecting and trading the cards. Unfortunately I was never able to play the games until years later, so Sun was my first official Pokemon game, which I really loved. But in recent years I was finally able to get White and White 2, playing them felt like I'd finally got my chance to revisit my original Pokemon phase, and they were every bit as amazing as my Gen 5 nostalgia hoped they'd be. Best games in the series by FAR.
Before I played this I had experience with Pokemon only through Pokemon Sapphire. But Black and White is a very special generation to me because its the game that really made me connect and feel invested in the world.
I've been introduced to pokemon through the anime but I've never thought there was a game for it. When i finally found out about pokemon games, it was in generation 6. I didn't have a 3ds at the time so I naturally researched about more games available for the ds and even gba. I found out about generations, and i immediately wanted to play from the start but i didn't like the style of gen 1 and 2 so I started from FRLG, then HGSS then Emerald. I played through sinnoh with platinum and played Black and Black 2. At the time, i didn't know the community generally didn't like the gen 5 games at release. I enjoyed them very much, i enjoyed every generation at release. I wasn't introduced to pokemon to collect them all, I was introduced to pokemon through ash, so I only wanted to be the best and use pokemon i found cool and cute. I experienced generation 5 and I thought it was the pinnacle of pokemon games. Having a direct sequel instead of a remake made the games more interesting. I was totally shocked as well because i didn't know black 2 would have different stories because I only knew of remakes back then. It was years later until generation 7 that i found out the community's general hatred for the games but i didn't mind. For me, every generation had their own personality, and that was enough. I was buying the games not to suffer through badges, or level grind until i lose my mind, i bought the games because i wanted to experience their stories.
I absolutely love the Black and White generation (1+2). As someone who found it after it's peak (like post generation 7) I missed out on a ton (wifi trades, event pokemon, event stories, dream radar and connecting to other players games) and honestly that's the only reason I want a remake - so I can experience that fun with others.
Wow this struck a chord. This game came out during a time when my peers moved on from innocent «childish» activities to grown up stuff like games with more violence and co-play like minecraft (though minecraft is very universal, I played it as well). At that time I’d already watched my cousins play Red/Blue, Ruby and played Pearl, Platinum and HG/SS myself (+ explorers of sky, tho not mainline) while bonding with my peers through those games. Me and my peers then were the tween age of 11 during B/W and 13 during B/W2, so I felt very alone playing those games and held tight to my interests from childhood while many of them moved on to seem more grown up in many aspects of life. But I’m grateful I didn’t get affected my the masses and stood with my interests that made me happy. B/W and B/W2 did actually feel more mature in many ways as well, so I’m grateful to have been a part of that era as a tween.
Now that i saw the Video i have so much flashbacks and i remember the good time in the game and the grinding in the 4th class on the playgroung or holiday with my friends 😢😊
Crazy to think THIS was someone's first Pokémon game 😳 while I was in high school It released in Japan and my best friend got a ROM with an English patch ... partially.😅 And this was before Citra was good or maybe even existed. I could only play barely through the beginning. On a crappy slow emulator. That crashed and wouldn't save. I restarted a 100 times. Dying for more Pokémon. I was SO excited for a chinchilla Pokémon 😊 Chinchillas had become a very popular pet in the states then. Pet stores started carrying them everywhere. When it actually released my NOW husband bought me the special edition white version DS game combo. 😮 He laid it on thick. I was very sad that the GBA slot was gone. It was such a magical thing. ❤😊 yeah HGSS had released but I'd already played Crystal to death. So a new region with new Pokémon... I'd almost say we're spoiled now. Feels like less time between releases. This is the first lull I've really felt in a while. What? 5 years.... swsh, arceus, bdsp, sv, 4 dlcs, snap, countless mobile apps.... wheras I used to replay the games over and over and over without a new game. I missed the initial gen 4 release. No one could buy me a DS. I was lucky to have gotten a GBA. And my step brother RIP traded me a game for Crystal 😢 where I fell in love.
@@FairyPhantasia I really wish I had been able to play some of those older games in their prime, the old gba and ds era were so good! Thank you so much for sharing and checking the video out, much appreciated
Driftveil City theme and Undella Town themes are probably my favorite songs in the game. One is a banger that became a meme song and now I get to hear the masterpiece it is all the time, and the other is just downright beautiful. And of course, I can't forget to mention the Nuvema Town theme.
I’m a bit older, so Red for the GBC was my first Pokémon game. By the time Black and White came out, I wasn’t playing Pokémon any more, but I got back into the series with Legends Arceus. I played that Masters game for the phone and really liked N in it, so I picked up a copy of the OG Black for my DS. I’m looking forward to playing it!!!
Great video! Although I will always love Diamond/Pearl with it being my first proper experience in the Pokemon franchise alongside so many amazing memories, the Unova region is absolutely amazing and unique. Loved your thorough breakdown of what are some of the best games in Pokemon!
This Video was amazing. I too first owned Poképark wii as my first pokemon game. I later got pokemon white and started with Tepig who has become my favorite starter of all time.
This retrospective was amazingly done, great job! As a fan since GSC, I agree that these games really did do something special, and I haven’t gotten the same feeling of wonder and amazement from any other mainline game after Gen 5. Truly a remarkable generation, I hope we get B3W3 instead of the inevitable remake
i remember getting pokemon black the moment it came out, after playing diamond and platinum i was so in love with the universe of pokemon and couldn't imagine it getting better ! but here we are, replaying pokemon black years after release and still loving it so dearly i personally chose snivy and despite not being my first ever starter he is the one i love the most out of all the starters i ever had to choose, i don't know why, it's just the pokemon BW effect! truly an amazing game that will make me emotional every time everything about it is so memorable and i believe I'm saying this with as much unbiased thoughts, even though it's so difficult considering how much nostalgia i get thinking about it N is by far my favourite pokemon character and even my favourite in general out of pokemon games, his development from the beginning to the end, from black and white to black and white 2, truly amazing to me thank you for making this video it made me so happy seeing someone else sharing my love for this game 🫶
I still remember my first Pokémon cards. I got them from a cousin and then did some trades with the very same cousin. I remember hearing one of my aunts commenting on that with another. I remember trading a Persian card for a Mankey because I preferred the Mankey line, but then realizing that I traded an uncommon card for a common one
I've loved Gen 5 since forever and BW2 was one of my most replayed Pokemon games ever... the animated sprites added so much charm to the creatures and the region itself is so charming and exciting to explore. Marine Tube???? With that funky futuristic music is soooo dope. It was at this time that most of my friends left Pokemon because they thought it was childish. Not me, and boy am I glad I still keep up with this series , at 25 years old of age. Unova will forever be my dream region❤
I don’t know how to explain it, but there’s something so magical and fuzzy about Gen 4 and 5. You just HAD to be there. Nothing will ever make me feel the same way these games made me feel. I feel like Pokémon had lost a lot of the magic that made it special to me. Or, I could just be feeling that way because I was a kid when I played those games. Who knows!
@@katn3344 man I did love playing Gen 4, I wish I was there to experience it in its prime. I actually remember seeing HG and SS on store shelves and asking if I could get it, but my mom told me I would have to wait for Christmas/birthday. Then of course BW came out and the rest is history. Thanks for sharing :)
Honestly, I heavily agree with this video, even down to Emboar being my favorite pokemon as well. These games and what they've brought to the table are the main reason why I fell completely in love with this franchise. To this day, N is my favorite rival because of his character, his design and the spectacle he brought to the story. And the soundtrack is just utterly phenomenal. The only difference is that me personally, I do like Simisage and Sawk. In conclusion, this is a very good retrospective video!
No other Pokémon game has made me cry the way Black and White has, and I've been playing since ruby. My far my favorite in the series, best story, music and characters. It was also the game I played when I was going through a lot in my life and tbh, helped me get through difficult times, escaping (this was before i got a therapist but still.) I hope they don't get remakes. In fact a sequel, or a regional successor game would be great, like a new game exploring a region west of Unova, connecting both regions by train via Anvil Town, kind of how Johto and Kanto are connected. Either way, best game in the series.
really great job on this video man. As of right now, you're at 215 subscribers.. No doubt that number will sky rocket soon. Good luck and keep up the awesome work! Gonna watch your Minecraft video now.
Gen 3 was my entry to Pokemon games, but even to this day my heart belongs in Gen 5. Introduced some of my favorite Pokemon like Bisharp and Lilligant, amazing soundtrack, beautiful region, great battles to have, good story and my most beloved rivals (I include N in there), it's practically perfection.
I'm still playing Pokémon black to this very day with the Pokémon I have collected over the years. groudon zapdos Mewtwo darkrai dialga zekrom. so many good memories:')
i liked pokemon since i was a kid, even with a parent that considered it to be for "boys only". my first full pokemon game experience was gen 4! i out in a ton of hours in pokemon diamond. then i fell off my liking to pokemon. but gen five? Pokemon Black? that is the game that drew me back to pokemon for good. this game captured my heart, imagination, and full attention and to this day its my favorite pokemon game with only scarlet coming close to the level of favorite. the storytelling deviation for me was not lost on me and it turned out i preferred it. there's also the things they dont tell us directly, the things we as the player gotta read between the lines that matches the serious tone of the main moral dilemma. and it just makes it hit so much harder. thank you for this love letter to my favorite gen of all time!
Pokémon black was also my first ever Pokémon game. I had grown up watching VHS tapes of the original series, but since I was poor, I never had a handheld console, so I spent a year saving up for it. I had commitment issues as a kid, so when I started bowling on a league, my grandma told me she'd give me a dollar a strike and 50 cents a spare. I did that for a year until I could afford my first DS. Black wasn't my first DS game, but it was among one of the earliest I owned. I then went to a pawn shop and got Pokémon diamond. I had no idea about the release order of the games at the time. I do remember when Pokémon black 2 came out. I was too poor to buy it, so I scammed it off a kid in JH. I literally just traded him a bunch of junk Pokémon cards for the game and told him no trade backs when I walked away. Pokémon black 2 was and still is an amazing sequel I still play to this day.
