I got my pet waterdogs from them for years. I still have 2 salamanders they turned into, AND Jenson's used to have two HUGE pet waterdogs. One albino that probably weighed a couple lbs.! ❤️❤️❤️ and i subscribe!

Dude that 1/4oz black Johson sliver minnow was one of my secret dark water Florida baits! Just stick a tail on a junebug ribbontail worm on the back hook. Then fish it like a frog and/or Spinnerbait. Also those quad plastic Buzzbait blades are awesome. In fact there the star of my diy buzzbait video 🤫🎣

Is Jenson's still open? Wow! I was buying stuff from them 40 years ago, when the old man ran the joint. Far out, dude (old lures from the 60's... old expressions from the 60's LOL!) Another shop like that, now long gone, was the Austin Angler. A small store crammed with stuff, it was on S.Lamar just south of Riverside Dr. Now the spot (and several others) is covered by condos. When Austin was 250K folks, it was a paradise.

If you are ever in Ohio, there is a small place in Newark, Ohio called Bob’s Outdoor Supply. I live close and worked in Newark for several years and never knew about Bob’s. As soon as I pulled up, Old School popped in my head. 4 older guys sitting outside in beat up chairs, shooting the breeze. I went in and Bob got up from his chair to follow me in. It was Retro Bass old school goodness. I got some Tru-Turn hooks from the barge bin with Jimmy Houston all over them. I doubt it will be there after Bob joins he heaven bass society. I stop by any chance I get and always buy something regardless whether I need it or not. Newark is just East of Columbus.

I haven't been there in years. That is where I used to buy my waterdogs (live salamanders) for fishing the black bass spawn. Need to go there again, not too far away from the house.

Those old Eagle Claw snelled hooks look like the ones I used back in the 70's when I was a kid. Same with the old Stren fishing line.

Man that place is a gold mine! I'd kill for a couple dealer boxes of those black Johnson minnows. Those black ones have caught me some big bass, but you never see em anymore and my stash is dwindling

That old school Stren was the best mono ever made. My Granddad use the purple box for fly leaders and green box hi viz for drum and sharks in the surf. I remember as a kid saving my money to buy the Easy Cast Stren. It was the only mono I ever used that never tangled, achieved distance, and held up to big crappies and catfish. I bought a big spool of the IGFA line class Stren 2lb test from a fishing auction for a dollar. Another tip to identify mono age especially Maxima (my Pop's favorite line and he made crude jokes about the character on the spool) is to see if it's made in West Germany. If it is, it's old.

Been there(Jensen’s)quite a few times when I resided in Round Rock in the 90’s-Used to buy the 3”-4”sluggos to fish the creeks. There used to be a shop off Toomey Rd. in Austin near Zilker park that has a R/C shop and dirt track in the back, other side was fishing gear. I forgot the name though. Enjoying the content👌🏻

Lol I have two dealer box of old school smelled eagle claw hooks along with some 40 of them loose in my garage. My dad used them when he took me bloodworm fishing lol

Hadn’t been there in years. Didn’t think it was still in business. I’ll have to stop by and pick a few things up. Last time I was there they still had rabble rouser lures. Hadn’t seen those since the 70’s.

My late Grandfather and Grandmother ran a rural, old school, grocery/hardware/feed store in East Tennessee for over 50 years. From the 1930's till almost 1990, Lone Star Grocery stood as an enduring pillar in the community where locals could purchase groceries, livestock feed, hardware, gasoline, and much more. I can appreciate and respect a business like Jenson's Tackle in Austin. I have put them on my "Must Visit" bucket list! Thanks for highlighting.

I love finding old discontinued fishing lures at mom & pop tackle stores. An 8” Lunker Punker G2 was my most significant find to date. That top water bait has got some magic. It was sitting in the water while I took a phone call and I watched a pond smelt swim along its side until it saw the lures eye. Then it back flipped out of the water in fright and impaled itself on the punkers rear treble hook. True story.

Man! I know who Bill Harper is! He was Lohmans big pro hunter. I had a vhs as a kid where Bill taught turkey hunting/calling. Coincidentally, as a kid I learned how to call turkeys from a Will Primos cassette tape about the same time.

I remember watching Al Lindner destroy big bass in reeds w a Silver Minnow on an ancient instructional video. And he would take a black magic marker and “customize” gold Johnson spoons.

First, that Bill Norman hat is incredible 👌🏼 and that place is a national treasure. I’ve bought some of those Extractors on eBay in the dealers box... I guarantee I paid way to much haha

I have a pile of $100 bills in my pocket that I would become separated from very quickly in that shop. I'm dumbfounded how they have all this NOS and are still in business. It looks as if they don't sell much of anything and never have. Idk. Maybe they did such a high sales volume that this is just what was left over. It just blows my mind that all that is in one place. You make me feel old saying that’s the oldest eagle claw package you’ve seen. My grandparents bait shop was full of those when I was a teenager and they were new back then. My grandpa and his sons (my dad) built that bait shop when I was a little kid and it had a dirt floor. My grandma would sweep the dirt off the dirt floor. It had chicken wire between the cash register where the minnow vats were and bait shop to keep people out. It was very old school. My grandparents also sold vegetables they grew at the bait shop. It had a cast iron wood stove with a vent oven on the stovepipe. We’d cook sweet potatoes, potatoes and corn in there. My grandpa would slaughter pigs and salt cure them in the bait shop. We’d all hang out in there and drink Pepsi with peanuts in the bottle. I wish I had the old Coca-Cola machines he had. It was in north central Texas on a TP&L private owned lake but accessible to fish. Now the lakes for sale since the power plant shut down and it’s posted no trespassing. It’s been for sale many years because it’ll take a millionaire to buy it. There’s a RU-vid video of the lake showing it for sale and the bass that are in it. Valley Lake in Fannin county. It’s loaded with channel cats.

I have "old" green Maxima line from mid 1970's which I still use to make up my saltwater shore fishing traces, it is still as strong today! I wouldn't use it if it wasn't! I also have some of my father's nylon line we used before then on old centre pin reels, still so strong! 🎣
