Fit for an ancient Byzantine emperor, made out of mossy pallet wood by a dude in a motocross jersey. The world is full of incredible people. Amazing job man.
Every time you added another detail I thought, "MORE? REALLY?" because each piece was something else you had to plane down, but ultimately the end result was so worth it. Intricate, beautiful, and made with so much care.
I see alot of "palette" projects, desks, benches, etc. Usually just a bunch of palette boards glued together and finished. All the intricate detail here hides the fact that it's made from palettes. Had one not known ahead of time, I wouldn't even had figured it was palettes. If this were a contest entry, I bet it would win... awesome build. Magical indeed... something Gandalf would use :)
Your attention to detail is unparalleled, you are a true craftsman and artist. To simply refer to this as "Upcycling" is such an understatement. This is stunning and a true work of art!
This gentleman is why Public Schools should bring back “Wood Shop” into their curriculum! Bravo that was amazing! Popping out of the closet at the end was funny. IDK why but It reminded me of Dr Who’s TARDIS. 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
@William Everyman Completely agree. Besides not all students are cut out of the same cloth. Woodshop was one of my favorite classes and it brought a lot of joy to my dreary academics day. I still have a shelf that I made in 7th grade. I gave it to my mom as a gift over 40 years ago. At 80 years old she is culling out some things to reduce her load and gave it back to me. I never got a chance to do metal shop or auto as that was more on the trade side of campus and had a label on it as being for "losers". The shops classes tended to be pushed on those that struggled academically and/or had behavioral problems. Too bad, because I think I would have loved that too. It's funny, because they just tore down and rebuilt the middle school I went to when I was younger. It is still in middle school and I just realized that there is no wood shop in that new school. As a matter of fact, that's actually the same shop that I made that mahogany shelf! I am grateful, however, that they still push a pretty good music curriculum. I'm so grateful that my children can all read and play music! Unfortunately, none of them are interested or have an aptitude for more hands on things like woodshop or turning a wrench.... I suppose they can sit next to me and play music while I build them a jewelry box or install their starter....
Jane Doe Yes indeed. That and home economics as well. America has really dropped the ball on that. Now, everything is cheaply made overseas. It was so cool to break up the school day with shop, music, driver’s ed, and art classes. Glad I lived it.
I have often thought what a horrendous waste of wood pallets are, but to see this wonderful piece of furniture made from them warms my heart. Wish more people would upcycle like this!
Pallets are one of the most recycled products. I do work at a plant that repairs and sells pallets. They pay good money for used ones and business is booming.
@@NoTaboos please be super wary of what pallets you use for firewood: most of them are treated with the highly toxic chemical methyl bromide. You want pallets that are marked as "Heat treated".
I'm a professional cabinet maker and have been so for 35 years. That was one of the most interesting builds I've seen considering it was made from pallets.
Henry Mostert I was going to say the exact same thing but you’ve beaten me to it. And it’s not only that all the wood came from pallets! The carpentry shop I owned before I retired has machines that sped up production, like CNC machines. I can’t imagine how many hours it took in total from start to finish!! Impressive.
Well, now we know what the "Wardrobe" in the "Chronicles of Narnia" looks like! That is the most amazing creation in wood that I've ever seen and I'm 79 years old! Thank you for sharing your magical skills with us!
@@garrisondodd9253 Okay first of all that's literally not true. A single glance at the description would show that. But secondly, even if you were right, who cares! This person left a lovely comment and there's no need to correct her when she shows her appreciation.
The immense amount of energy we all have within each of us was never meant to destroy but to create. This is a prime example. Sir, you are a phenomenal woodworker. This was one of the most enjoying videos I have seen in a long time. Peace.
Gods, whatever form you want to think of, have one real superpower: creation. And we humans, the only thing that matters is the amazing things our loving and forgiveness can create. In that perception, we all are gods.
I think I can hear the pallet rejoicing. They couldn't believe their luck. They thought they were at the end of their usefulness. And then you came along.
This is how they made it in the good old days, made for use and made for last year's to come, not like the crap there is made today. Fantastic to see your skills.
Very well equipped shop with a man who knows how to use all the tools to their maximum capability especially the grey matter between his ears ! Well done sir.
I used to work making roofing slate. Because of the weight of the slate the pallets we used were made of oak and maple. Sometimes the boards were a foot wide. They were beautiful to look at just as they were. If the pallet got too damaged by a fork truck they were thrown away. I often tried to think of ways to reuse them but my wood working skills are pretty rudimentary, nothing like this guy. Imagine what he could do with foot wide oak and maple!
I work in manufacturing now and we are always getting huge pieces in on these giant high end pallets. I always look at them with envy. Mostly maple. Good wood. Not the junk of a standard pallet. But they get reused a billion times. Not allowed to take any. 😞
How about recycle and put the word out you have some. I'm sure you wouldn't have them long. And more beauty would find a way into this world. If we work together we can do anything.
Stunningly beautiful. That was a lot of work. I couldn't begin to imagine how many hours work was put into this. But an absolute masterpiece is the result.
One detail of the build that I truly appreciate, is your reuse of the nails. A former boss would not want me to save nuts and bolts that I had saved from a disassembly project. He then would go and purchase new fasteners of the same sizes. Your artistic work goes without mention.
How do people not like this...this is magical just watching...maybe they don’t like cause he’s not walking us step by step on how to do it...either way I’m freaking amazed 💕
Trust me...right now with nothing but doom and gloom on the radio, tv, email, social media...every minute of the day...things like this put me at ease even if just a moment
I still think there was more wood involved ... i dont see how he used the wood from those pallets to build that entire cabinet. That cabinet has a LOT of wood and the pallets were skimpy on wood
I'm shocked at how ugly pallets can be transformed into such a beautiful and magical piece of functional artfully crafted furniture. I'm not sure how many man hours went into creating this piece, but you certainly have set the bar for pallet recycling. Just gorgeous 😍 ❤️
Lol. Other people: I made a coffee table/bed/bench/etc out of recycled wooden pallets! This guy: I made a magic Narnia wardrobe Other people: Welp, imma gonna go now.....
Hi, it's really hard to believe that this wardrobe is made of pallets. It's beyond anyone expectations. You are not just a master but also a talented one of wood and design.
@@EpicUpCycling I know the endless amount of compliments is probably taking up your inbox but if you see this, you're a beautiful human and I hope you're doing well. Amazing work.
I have always been impressed at how much of an improvement taking the surface off old wood and refinishing it makes, But you took it to a whole new level. You took wood that most people would think was utterly useless and made a masterpiece out of it. This is something truly special.
after even further thought whats just as impressive as the passion and craftsmanship is the fact that your builds are flat packable and easy to dissamable and reassemble, the quality and thought is unbelievable, good job sir i feel inspired!
First , this is a masterpiece !!! You are extremely talented !!! Second , it made me feel close to my Grandfather . He loved to do things like this as a challenge and for the fun of it . He has been gone for a long time . So thank you for the gift of his presence . 💖💖💖
I cannot fathom the creative, engineering and mathematical talents/skills needed to create this magically beautiful wardrobe. 🤯 mind blown! Thank you for bringing us along for the ride.
Gift card was always the most exciting. I’m 67 now and just beat the Coronavirus. I watched this video and I am so inspired. When I get out of this bed, I will make something. You, sir, stir the most incredible creative juices anyone ever has. Thank you for enough inspiration to last the rest of my life. You truly have an incredible gift! Thank you for sharing.
This is the most phenomenal, inspirational and beautiful thing that I’ve seen in a very long time. The creativity, the skill, the art involved in the entire process, what a joy to watch. You’ve absolutely made my day and you’ve made me think about the fact that things don’t have to be what they seem to be at first glance. Those dingy old pallets, made into this gorgeous piece of artwork... mind blown. I’ve seen many beautiful pieces of reclaimed pallet wood furniture before and admired them but what you’ve done here is really beyond compare. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent and the fruits of your labor that you clearly loved creating. Marvelous! 💗
Wow first of all the beauty of the closet, and the patience, and the accuracy, and all that wood taken from something that was thrown to waste, I work with recycled wood and I know how much work it takes, I really appreciate your creation and work, thank you so much for sharing!
I think the above "made out of nothing etc..." misses out that there was obvious mastery in skill and knowledge required to make this piece of furniture
you forgetting one thing.....knowledge is OK....but I disagree on skill.....he is using best technologies and tools to make it work....can he do the same thing with simple tools like, hammer and saw.....if yes then I would say has skills too
I usually end woodworking videos feeling like if I owned the equipment I could accomplish the same thing. I am in awe of the patience and precision involved in making this wardrobe. 🙌
I think one of the best features of this is that the front not only has the intended square pattern, but due to the grain direction change it also adds an almost ghosted diamond pattern.
Randy Zeitman Ha. It’s so cruel, watching this without having access to a proper workshop, isn’t it? Story of my life. So many creative ideas, but not the space or tools, to ever make them come true!
I’ve always believed in giving credit where credit is due...I’d love to try something like this but don’t have the space to try. And, I admit, the drive to achieve the finest detail that you have perfected. I’ll be subscribing to your channel...who knows, I might just learn something!
Definitely an awesome build but don’t cut yourself short. You possess the ability to do great things. If another human can do it then you can too, it’s just a matter of will, time, patience, and perseverance.
I would still be impressed if you had used top quality timber. This is a masterpiece & to actually use pallet wood is unbelievable when you see the finished item. Massive pat on the back sir.
Midwest Magic Cleaning sent me here, and I'm glad he did. What magical wardrobe, I would have liked a lighter girlier colour, maybe just a wash, but I loved watching it. Go you! 🎉
And everything without a domino-jointer, a nail-gun and pocket holes. Thank you for that! This is a project where you can see and feel the enormous amount of work. Nothing we see here couldn't be done by anyone, if they had the skill and time. And with even less tools. Table-saw, hand saw, battery drill and a router(table), as I see it. This is a super-relatable video. Superb!
@@jesperdahl1486 Yer right, I used the wrong name. My point was more humourous and nebulous as biscuits, dominos and dowels all perform roughly the same function. Saying "without a domino-jointer" but using a biscuit is.. well it's the same thing just cheaper.
@@BenKingEagles No not really, a biscuit joiner is purely for alignment as it adds no strength, whereas a domino is a form of loose tenon which DOES add strength.
I just started with some basic woodworking like making a clock using only an MDF panel and a handheld router and some basic woodturning, but seeing this is just wow. I'll need years to get there, if I ever will. Amazing stuff you do with simple scrap wood and pallets. And especially the patience you show in the video, so relaxed. This is top craftmanship. I wanna see more so I subscribed to your channel, something I rarely do. Keep it up.
The 2nd time watching this, this time I remembered to like it. ❤ When I want to stress down, I just watch your vids... as it amaze me every time, your craftsmanship, your patience... Yep, you are awsome! ❤
Wow. So gorgeous! And that hardware too! **chef's kiss** Also, so glad you included a clip of you exiting the wardrobe - anyone who builds a human-sized wardrobe & doesn't attempt to stand/hide in it at least once isn't doing it right XD
This is one of the most amazing up-cycling projects I’ve seen! So much detail….never has ‘measure twice cut once’ been more important. ☺️ How amazingly talented you are. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
10:10 is the point where I would take stock of how much time and effort I've put into this, and how much work is left to do, and say "Screw it, it's a headboard." Your patience and craftsmanship are inspiring.
Well, everybody can but not everybody has the will, the resources to buy such a expensive machines or the tutoring, actually people can learn wathever if you teach them, that is why people with knowledge should shere it, like this sir is doing...my regards.
I do not have anything like his carpentry skills or the tools available,Iwas given a couple of pallets when a friend moved house,as I,m retired and time 0n my hands wondered what to do with them I made a shoe rack, some rustic boxes ,small patch table with only usual garage tools ,orbital sander skill saw various other tools ,Ipurchased a 90 degree set square and some clamps and did the work ,you can do anything can be achieved if you want it to ,agreed it would not win any prizes but the satisfaction was was a morale booster
Agreed, but also true is that if people valued workmanship then craftsmen and women like this would have a market to sell their products, as opposed to losing out to big corporations selling cheap factory made rubbish that really is a race to the bottom
I did a computer desk in pine with laque paint and he took me 104 days of works with a few tool, your machine are great and your skill. I know what it takes to craft something from scratch and your are really great, patience, precision for details.👌
Magnificent! “Yes,” said the Lord Digory, “Its inside is bigger than its outside.” “Yes,” said Queen Lucy. “In our world too, a stable once had something inside it that was bigger than our whole world.” ― C.S. Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia
Inspiring, most people don’t know the time involved in making a piece like that. Using that biscuit joiner saved you loads of time. Nice layered stain technique. Thanks for sharing!
