I go the high proof bourbon route for my deep cleanings. Mostly because I have a lot on hand at all times, so I don't have to go out and buy Everclear or something more neutral
Nice. I remember when I first started, I didn't even know I could take the stem off . Hopefully this video will be helpful for some of the newer pipers.
@@amanrelaxes I'm relatively new to pipe smoking but tbf I did watch a bunch of videos about it before buying my first, so I may have picked things up from great channels like the Muttonchop Piper. Just watched the deep cleaning series of his and that's something I'm going to have to do soon. I smoke a lot of bowls and I've never deep cleaned lol, so I better place an order for all the equipment
@@amanrelaxes Wow you do look youthful then. 15 years ago, I'd be nearly 10, and the only pipe I had ever seen in person was in my deceased granddad's cabinet.
You're welcome! I do not smoke daily-anywhere from 1 to 4 times a week depending on life, and I rarely smoke more than a single bowl in a day. It would be hard to calculate, but I always buy a ton at a time.
@@amanrelaxes yeah, I make it. It's super simple. I'll be putting up a video about before the end of the month. You've probably heard of the honey treatment. That's not what I do. Others use a mixture of sour cream or yogurt and carbon (charcoal). That's weird in my mind. others use a watered down version of @canerodpiper's pipe mortar recipe. The method I settled on for my estate and new pipes I read about in a pipe forum. Made perfect sense to me. I had to perfect the recipe, but the idea was not original to me. I now call it bowl icing. It's powdered sugar, charcoal, and water. Works great!
