Rightt, and I found it surprising that she chose to date someone so much older than her too WITH a preteen child at that knowing that she’s always seemed pretty conscious abt red flags. I just KNOW that her traditional Latin parents must’ve been giving her shxt abt it 💀 The feeling I’ve always gotten from seeing them was that he served as a mentor for her in her music as she’s talked abt him giving her a nonexistent confidence in her writing skills and would take her along w him to the studio to watch him work and we’d see her as a result b exposed to other artists in the industry and be taken along to industry parties..it reminded me of the mentorship-esque relationship that Diddy and Jennifer Lopez had minus the age difference of course. I think Ty being an affirming voice for her within the sectors of her insecurity regarding music was a big part of her attraction from an outsiders point of view and maybe saying or admitting to that would’ve seemed too much like a transactional relationship in which someone “used” the other but I think it could just b seen as one of the few parts that contributed to their coupling and not the entirety of the reason they were together 🤷🏾♀️

This is, by far, my favorite episode. Lauren’s story really resonates with me because I went through a very similar situation. It’s amazing the way she beautifully articulated what she went through and how she healed without being disrespectful toward the other party. She handled this conversation with such maturity.
I don’t know if Shan has an episode about this, but would love to hear more about the partner she felt like her body was rejecting because of recurrent infections… Not too many people discuss what these things may mean about knowing whether your partner is meant for you
Surprised Shan mentioned it bc some would categorize those experiences, body manifestations as spiritual and I believe she doesn’t typically align wit that.
@@MsMizz1 It doesn't have to be categorised as spiritual, but I understand how some would see it that way. However a book like: "The Body Keeps The Score" provides an alternative way of looking at such things. The body has an inherent wisdom which it doesn't help to ignore.

I tried to rekindle things with an ex who cheated on me but every time I would hangout with him, rashes would appear on my skin and when I stopped hanging out with him the rashes would disappear. I couldn’t figure out why! Now I have a better understanding because of your comment.

Didn't really know much about Lauren before this episode (obviously other than Fifth Harmony), but man, I love seeing someone mature. 26 and emotionally beyond her years; she's grounded. I hope to hear her views on life, love, and self in another ten years and see how she's progressed.

ESPECIALLY, those whom are younger and who are just beginning to get their feet wet and those who literally, are just starting to set out on their adventures and their own journey in the world. It’s MOSTLY, ESSENTIAL for the young(er) generations. Even though learning healthy and non toxic stuff is certainly beneficial to anyone of ANY generation. For the younger generations the internet & social media is both a gift and a curse. As long as it’s well balanced with the realistic understanding of how embellished it can be. It’s possible to be used well & also as a learning tool.

I love Lauren. I feel everytime she talks, i listen and learn a lot from her. I'm spiritual like her too. And i love this talk. I love that this didn't focus on the hurt and pain, but more so on empowering, healing, place of love, compassion, and lessons learned w/o judgement.
My goshhhh. I went to her show last WEEK in buenos aires! Listening to Always love live, having her singing in front of you... it was and incredible experience and the song is a masterpiece. I cried during that performance. Because like she said, it's about seeing the love I had for a person but knowing that we couldn't be together anymore. I walked away after talking for a long time but right now I'm the worst person alive ... Going back to Lauren. I met her and She is such an amazing person. I love the way she expresses herself and how mature and healed she is right now. Genuinely happy for her and her relationship and thankful for her being in this world. I love her ♡
I didn’t know of Lauren before this episode but she is a VIBE. Can definitely relate with her journey and I’ve been guilty of matching energy for energy in the past- now I know better. Respect all encompassing is key and a bare minimum 🔑. So affirming🫶🏾. Loved this episode 🙌🏾
I love this.. especially because she is being so open and vulnerable.. i also love how she mentions her new relationship with a woman openly.. i know a few women that after a bad break up with men they run to women emotionally to heal them and low key kind of use them.. and i adore..that she is not like that at all.. she is open.. transparent.. still young but more mature than most.. and can articulate her feelings very calmly.. very refreshing.. 👏👏.. also shan did a great job interviewing her and giving her a very safe and relaxed space so she can feel that way..

What she said from 31:47 to 33:00 is such a compassionate way of loving, but she is also realistic at the end when she said that not everyone has the tools to love a person like that, and that is okay.

Also, as a Latina this resonates 110% In love, we give endlessly, but yes the point about respect and getting our love needs met is SUPER Key. I learned this in all relationships. It still shocks me because being Latina there have been some preconceived expectations on how much I can give. This usually exceeds what I can give in reality. This has helped lots with my recent breakup. I also matched my ex’s energy. He would yell and treat me like 💩 and so I was like “oh hellll no” you wanna yell.. so can I. Of course it was an insightful episode as I would expect since I’ve listened to almost every episode but the very end really touched me deeply. Shan shares something so vulnerable and talks on her fear of letting her fear go. I just want to thank Shan for being so honest because I heard my own heart in that sentiment. As a queer, non monogamous, and a-romantic person, I am not someone who aspires to be married. Even in that, I still found myself relating so deeply to this episode. I struggle with keeping people at arms length no matter what the relationship dynamic is but constantly craving deeper connections. Never entering a situation without an exit plan. This is where fear has a deep hold on me. Being afraid of rejection, abandonment, and pain keeps me from the love I know I am deserving of. So I stand in solidarity with you Shan. What she said in the beginning is why men like Leo Dicaprio goes for younger women, it's not surprising that with Ty Dolla sign, a black man, is not ok with a young girl becoming a woman.
