Why would the father tell his son Chris to go back to a harlot? He sabotaged his own son, based on his own failures .Chris was so naive and gullible. He was manipulated by all parties..SMH..He was barely even ready to even leave home.

But then, they completely forget, that You're the Son of man, yet; Which learned obedience through all Your sufferings, but always without any sins! Thank You, Lord, that during Your life down here, You stood against all kind of temptation, to prepare a way for my salvation! I'm so grateful for those precious Words in the garden of Gethsemane, in the middle of Your agony ; "Abba Father....not as I will, but as You will!" Nobody took Your life, Lord, but You gave it freely, went through all the pain, scorn and slaughter, because You love us dearly! How can I ever comprehend such Love, which eternal life did bestow?! All I can do, is believe and receive, forever praise Your Name ; which salvation for me became!

Dusty asked for all the trouble she ever got but never should have had a baby. So many couples just can't have a baby but there she is with one. I feel very sorry for Chris. He just didn't know people could be so cruel. The parents tried.

I hate to bring this up but as much as dusty ran around on Chris I wouldn’t be shocked if Christine turned out to be another man’s child.

I remember this movie as a kid. God Patty Duke delivers her lines so we'll. Martin Sheen is a natural.

Reading some of these comments. I wonder if people have any common sense at all! Blaming the father stating that he sent him back to His wife! Yes, he encouraged him to save his marriage if he could. But he had to go back to Hawaii, he was in the Marines. And dusty was already planning to kill him for his benefits. Because she knew if she got a divorce, she would not get any of the benefits. Wake up people, did you even watch the movie?

I've never shed tears watching any movie like i did when i watched this one,i don't know whether it's because i also have the only son on earth. The taught of loosing him,would kill me,I'll be dead too. Great movie indeed 👌

He made so many wrong choices, and he was an adult. Jumped into bed with what was obviously a loose woman, then daft enough to marry her. His mother was wrong to downgrade the woman over the dinner table. He was wrong to start punching the men on the beach, and in the bar - he should have stayed out of it, and spoken to her when she got home. He took on more than he could handle.

Honestly Dusty didn't have to kill or kidnap to make a few dollars not to be shallow but she was pretty enough to make her own way she could have been a model she could have been a DCC/NfL cheerleader for exposure she could have possibly been an actress instead of using her looks to manipulate and get men and and kill and kidnap steal.

This is one of my all time favorite TV movies. The whole move used to be available for years and then it just disappeared for years. I sure appreciate you making it available again even if it is in two parts and thank you especially for not killing it with ads❣

I definitely blame the father this whole thing could have been prevented.. He was a miserable man who obviously hated the life...HE CHOSE. He was constantly giving him terrible advice.. He gave his son no guidance, left everything on the mom and then resented her for trying to fill in for his shortcomings as a father.. So many people failed in this one... But the Dad sent his son back to that demon Dusty, he married. All he had to do was support the decision his son made instead of making the son believe it was his moms controlling his thoughts & decisions. It wasn't, he wanted to leave because she treated him poorly was constantly disrepecting him and talking down to him she was doing her best to mess with his self worth. It was his resentment he was projecting onto his sons life,.. I think he may have even possibly been jealous of how much his wife loved the son as well ,lots of weird mentality going on in this story...Lots!!!

Been really disappointed in quality of current movies for the past 10 years or so. So glad I found this channel, really enjoying all these old movies, takes me back to my childhood in the 90’s

Very sad. My son recently passed away at 33. His ex was knieving also and they have a daughter I have not seen since she was one year and a half old.. 😢

Phenomenal acting from all players, but especially Patty Duke. She came a long way from that silly sitcom of the 60s! The very sad fact is that this story is true. I certainly hope all surviving innocent parties got on with their lives in the real world. Movies tend to gloss over the darker side of victimhood.

Unpopular opinion. But i think him ending up in the marines was the moms fault (patty duke) when parents are overprotective and try to control their kids life. They create kids that just want to get away. She probably control or was very opinionated on the girls he dated in his home town. Hence how she know that dusty was his first partner. If he didnt leave she would probably would directing his career path. And if she wasnt like that im sure he would have stayed and tried to figure his life out. But he was ready to leave to have some control over his own life.

And another thing! Ive seen Dusty's obituary, where it was written that to the younger people she knew, Dusty was like a 2nd mother to them. Its a real shame that Dusty was not a good mother to her own 2 or 3 children. Who knows how many she had.

This is disgusting how people are blaming his father. This young man had every right to leave the small, southern town he was in. That’s the problem with some of us who refuse change. He was murdered in the Marine Corps, but it was his personal choice to go in. Not everybody wants to stay in the small, southern towns, and do the same thing as everyone else. I come from a small town and a very overbearing mother. I went to college, graduated and came back to the small town. I was extremely stagnant, unhappy, and depressed. I wanted more, but I stayed because of my mother. Six years would pass me by. I finally had enough guts to tell my mother that I wanted to leave. I just felt there was more for me. She was upset and she had that right. I also had a right to live my life the way I wanted to. I go home to visit but it is still not where I choose to be. I have a successful business, live my life, and I talk to my mother every day.Just because you live your life, it doesn’t mean you’re being disrespectful to your parents. Just because it was her choice to stay in the small town in Alabama doesn’t mean he was wrong for wanting to get out. His dad did the right thing by signing him up for the Marines. He would’ve resented them forever. If his dad would not have signed, he would’ve went at 18 anyway. there are plenty women like Dusty all around. If she would’ve prepared her son, instead of sheltering him, he would’ve seen this Golddigger for what she was.

YOU MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS NOT YOUR MUMMY AND DADDY OR ANYBODY ELSE. WHY DOES EVERYONE BLAME OTHERS FOR THERE MISTAKES. JUST WEAK AND PATHETIC. DUSTY DID A GREAT ACTING JOB EVERYONE HATES “HER”.

If a judge granted custody to the grandparents then how is Dusty planning on getting the babies benefits? She kidnapped her. The law is not going to take the money and benefits from the legal guardian and sign them over to a kidnapper. That'a just dumb.

Dusty Love telling mary That Chris was dead it. He was stabbed to death. And his right thumb was cut Off one time Was enough. She got what she wanted Chris was dead. Now Dusty could get his insurance social security And marine benefits.. But Mary had everything put In her granddaughter's name. Chrissy. Dusty won't Chrissy back so she can get the Benefits.
