I totally agree, and I watched this movie, even though I’ve seen it before just to watch Patty Duke, Astin, and Martin Sheen. Patty Duke is an extraordinary actress.!!

They couldn’t have picked two better people to play those roles, but I think Alexandra Powers was right up there too. She played that seductive, evil, low class trash women perfectly. Lol. Even little Chrissy actress did her role perfect.

The fact that there was three adults in that household and they only were depending on a baby’s deceased dads insurance is just pathetic. Talbot is definitely a piece of shit for only referring to the kid as “brat” and “meal ticket”. Even threatening to hit her in the van for doing literally nothing made me want to shoot him.

Too bad the real character she played didn’t use the love her grandparents gave her but followed in her mother’s footsteps.

The little girl's most impressionable young years of childhood have been emotionally traumatized .It would take a long time to repair at least some of the damage. Why couldn't Dusty live for her dad less daughter and give up boyfriends until her daughter grew up??!! MOTHERHOOD is a miracle and Dusty rejected it for drunk boyfriend. Why did Chris's dad send him to his death ,just because Chris's adultress wife excites Chris? Dad rubbed his idea of a good life on Chris. Sad. Protecting babies is more necessary for our future than excitement and temporary happiness. Chris's dad destroyed so many lives with his unhealthy advice.Our Hindu priests in India teach women better than US Christian pastors who get salary to teach that adultery is a sin !! How did a country like the 1900s USA, with a majority monogamous,married men become a country where both men and women are not monogamous in 2023? Pastors need more resources to make USA healthier again...atleast our India is half healthy and helps marreid women to be monogamous and self-sacrifice to protect kids and help kids become nurses, doctors, engineers sought globally

Too bad that she ended up in the criminal system just like her mom. Guess her background story and the possible abuse she suffered at the hands of her mom and her moms bf traumatized her.

Sadly, she inherited her mom s genes and all that came with them. Cautionary tale for when one wants to adopt, sometimes, the apple doesn t fall far from the tree.

Sadly, there wasn't much justice. Rocky got out early, restarted his life. Kathy "Dusty" only served 4 of the 7 years. She did bounce in and out of jail until her death in 2012. Christy, the daughter grew up to be a bit troubled. She developed a meth addiction, and also bounced in and out of jail. Although her last arrest record was in 2015.

Sad that those three adults in that household could only depend on a child’s benefit money. Heck, I’d be using Chrissy’s legal money towards a college fund for her or something
