In 2009, we spent several months in at Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, in Pune. We were granted permission to make this short documentary to showcase the therapeutic work done at the Institute during the so call "medical classes".
Therapeutics is an essential part of the Iyengar's teachings. The concern for the well being of the patients is paramount and the work is done under the rigorous supervision of Dr Geeta Iyengar.
You will find here an exemple of that there is more to yoga than the proverbial quest for "buns of steel".

I'm watching this video through my tears in the aftermath of Geeta Iyengar's death. It is a perfect short illustration of Geeta's relentless integrity, uncompromising discernment and fierce generosity. Thanks to Mary Obendorfer and Eddie Marks for this tribute to her and the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute.

She is a classical teacher. Strict and full of love. Like father. She positively reinforces the right work. Comments on her body are nasty. If they want to see her do Yoga when she was even a child, they will not make those nasty comments.

And they all think yoga is only about the body. Sad to say "consumer.yoga" is the fad in yoga, miss ing out on the essence of yoga, which is all about spiritual development.

I have met her many times as they are my late mil's neighbours.. Geetha Aunty is extremely nice and she is full of love. It holds good with all her sisters... I love to be in that institution all the time.

I’m not angry as you say and also not throwing stones at you as you mentioned, I’m just replying to your comments. You are entitled to worship any god you want. That doesn’t give you the divine rights to go and comment on other spiritual practices in the world. I never came and commented on any of your Christian channels. I don’t even know who you are. But you just come and insult our whole community. I think that is not decent.

Julie, do you think that the earth has four corners like a map (Rev. 7:1) and is flat (Matt 4:8) and the sun rises in the east, moves across the sky, and sets in the west (Psalm 19:4-6) while the Earth is stationary & does not move: Psalm 104:5 we read: Thou didst set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be shaken

Sure they r very well versed about yoga and teaching it but when I saw all the teachers and how obese they look. I do yoga four times a week and at 77 yrs I look fit and healthy

Shape is not something that is fully related to the aesthetical appearance, sorry to say that))) This woman is about 65-70 y.o., do you realize that? Do you know many people who are healthy, can workout and have nice "cover" at this age? She may not have the latter, but she is active and capable to do may thins that very few people can, including those with "model" looks)))

In 1633, the church persecution declared Galileo guilty for saying that the Sun lies at the center of the universe, that the Earth is not at its center and moves. The inquisition, sentenced him to imprisonment, commuted to house arrest, where he spent the rest of his life. The church even forbade publication of any of his works, including any he might write in future. Not much of love, peace, tolerance to ideas new to the Church. They feared the Church may loose it's authority over masses.

Jesus also said - Love your neighbor as yourself. So please quit judging people and taking a superior attitude (my way or the highway). Jesus met people where they were - be it low or high. He mingled with the sinners, the sick and the outcast. He was not busy pushing people away and wasn't judgmental.. So, as one of the basic tenets of Christianity, learn to ACCEPT people where they are. And, Instead of PREACHING to others, show that you are a true christian by being CHRIST like. Amen
