My dad spent 30 years at Ford. 11 hour days, and developed lot of leg pain. He passed away recently months before retirement. He would have loved to see this. Godspeed.
Totally know where you're coming from.. Father put in 36 years in skilled trades with GM... So many people don't understand what these jobs mean to the cities, communities, and family's.
We need more entrepreneurs in America. I walked away from my job at 34. As a man, I just couldn't have a job dictate my life. A wife and 4 kids, even at UAW max, 34 per hr ain't enough. I need it ALL. No slices outta my pie
Retired IBEW Inside Wireman here and I'm behind the UAW all the way! It's the American workers that built this country not the greedy CEO's and corporations. It's past time to get this country on a course that benefits all Americans and not just the elite few!
I stand with you! All of you! My pops 40 years , started at Clark Street plant, then went to poletown ! May He rest in peace! He was a proud UAW member! Us kids , learned quickly, never stand against a union!!! Thank you , our mom is still alive and his retirement is her future!!! Thank you all ! And Godspeed!
So you think the average factory worker should make 320k annually? That's what they are asking for. Will you buy a Big3 vehicle if the cost is passed on to the consumer? Will you buy a brand new American made car? I own 2 Toyotas. I will never buy a shitty overpriced American car. Why? The value isn't there. Do you think the average factory worker should be paid as much as a doctor?
@@youtubesucks1499Have you even took a glance at our contract? No. Where did you get your numbers? I've worked for one of the big 3 for 2 years now. I make $17 an hour. Get your facts right.
@@youtubesucks1499You are just believing the headlines. I work 40 hours per week because my plant offers no OT. I don't even gross 70k per year for backbreaking work for 10 hour shifts. Don't believe the media lies and quit spreading fake news.
Having a trade which doesn't confine ones expertise to an assembly line might also be of extreme benefit. Strike long, strike hard, but like it or not, buggy whips and horseless carriags aren't in demand anymore.

As a manager at my current job, I can't join a union, but I support unions and come from a family and area that was built by unions. I've seen what happens when large industrial firms pull out of areas. It devastates the community. I also know that my salary goes up when my employees' salary goes up. I support unions and respect strikes. I canceled my chevy colorado order the day the strike took effect. I know the union hasn't called for a boycott yet but I felt it was the right thing to do! SOLIDARITY FOREVER!
Good to know others realize the value of organized labor. You're the type of manager that we wish these companies were made of. Thank you for your support and good luck to you and the union labor strikers.
@youtubesucks1499 Yes, as soon as the strike ends, I'll reorder the truck I wanted to buy. I could have already gotten a Tacoma cheaper. I went with the Colorado for reasons other than just total cost. You know, like an actual consumer. Not a pretend consumer that internet economists hide behind, so they don't have to admit they are anti organized labor. I have no problem supporting union products even if they are more expensive. I buy union whenever possible. I have a brother in the IAFF local 858 and another in IAFF local 1309. My family has several USWA union members. I know what I'm supporting, and I know what unions do for their communities.
Hope this sets a tone for the rest of the world, not just for us (UAW members) but for everyone.. The economy right now is felt deeper than our pockets.. "SOLIDARITY IS POWER"..Definitely glad to be apart of the movement.. "Local 276 member"...Arlington assembly and the rest of the BIG 3 STAND UP!!!💪🏾💯🙏🏾🤟🏾
The UAW are leading a movement that is destined to inspire millions of Americans nationwide! Thanks to all at UAW, making the substantial change in a America possible by your brave unity and courage! Union!
It's great to see a strong labor movement led by union members. Your fight will help address inequality not just for UAW members, but for Americans in other industries. We need a strong labor movement in this country. Keep up the fight!
@@craighermle7727 Union members build vehicles they know their mom, dad, brother, uncle, neighbor, and grandkids are going to be driving. They want those cars to be safe and high quality. C-level executives aren't worried about driving the vehicles us ordinary people drive. They don't even need to drive, because they can afford to be chauffeured around. So, who has an incentive to build high quality products? Obviously, the union members. And, who has an incentive to build products that break down and drive people back to OEM parts? Obviously management.

Respect ✊ ❤and love from a nurse in Fort Worth Texas my dad retired from Fords and was an active UAW member! I miss those days and there’s no way in hell these auto workers should not be able to afford 2 or 3 cars for the company they work for, spend summer with family, opt in for over time all while making a livable wage like my parents did to only now have it ripped away, (when me and my brother were kids (80s and 90s) keep it going ❤
To know that the cost of cars are so high but the workers have felt no benefit of that... this is disgusting. I can't afford to get a newer car right now and I have a good job. Same for a lot of people around me. thank you to these workers for standing up against corporate greed!
Finally for someone who sees it. All of comments are calling the workers greedy and blaming them for the cost of vehicles. People must have forgot these unions striking is how we got to a 40 hour work week, vacation etc.
@@lung21 So... We blame their competitors for making a better product? That sounds like bad company management to me, plain and simple. It was no secret electric was coming, the big 3 just thought they could ignore it for another decade.

The courage and determination of the UAW is an inspiration to us all and I wouldn't doubt your actions will open the floodgates for many other workers to rise up and take a stand for justice in the work place.

The world is on your side. Workers should stand together and find new ways to guarantee their rights. The rich does this for their class 24/7. Cheers from Brazil!!
It's not just the auto workers, he's doing it for all workers. A rising tide raises all boats. However, be careful because the 1% will be coming for you as they understand that if this works others will follow.

Unions don’t care about the people they say they represent. The high demands usually end of catastrophic for everyone. What stands in the way of the US being the best educated country - the teachers union.
