Sadly my left handle kinda broke on my last shoot ...😔I bought mine November 2021 and now it doesn't lock anymore when rotated clockwise. Counter-clockwise still works though. Really sad thing, because I loved that handle😭
Funny how we filmmakers who have cameras and rigs… still watch through every rigging video recommended… 🤣 nice simple rig do woman do the same with makeup videos?
I found the other side handles don't leave enough room for the hdmi cable and hang gets caught up. This new handle seems like it sits wider so that's cool! Might be a nice alternative to rocking a top handle all day.
Love this setup, do you think the rotating side handle would fit on the tilta cage for the FX3? Was the same as you loving the side handle on the FX6 so this looks amazing but also really like my Tilta Cage😂
I like this. I keep the audio adapter on with the top handle, deity s mic 2s and I mount my phone to it with monitor+ app on it. No cage or anything. I dont think it gets more compact than that lol. LOVE the fx3!!
Is this handle better than the wooden one which can be fixed on either side ? Asking because I don’t know if I’m more comfortable with a handle on the left or the right… Right seems more intuitive
Cool video! Though I never understand in what situations do you guys use such rigs without microphones? I would 99% times take my mic over the monitor.
@@chrisbrockhurst Oh wow, thats interesting. Weddings with handheld but no audio from it, is this a music video style of editing or more like a documentary? I am curious to get inspired as I shoot a lot of weddings myself and cant imagine without a microphone.
@@dathofilms generally it's for reels. So he'll had music to it and there may be some sounds from the camera but the majority of the sound will be led by the soundtrack.
I ALWAYS have a mic on my rig. Have the a7Siii with the full Smallrig cage with my Sennheiser directional shotgun mike in the hotshoe on the right of the monitor solidly attached right over the right-side dials with a Smallrig rubberized universal clamp. No rubbing of the microphone as in Chris’s video where noise is inevitable
@chrisbrockhurst great video thanks for sharing this great knowledge. As a newbie to videographer information you are sharing really helps. May I ask what mic you have mounted to the rig.
Man… I was about to pick up fx3, but now the a74 with the xlr module seems like it would make more sense. I don’t really need high frame rates or extreme low light. Do you plan to do any image quality comparisons between a74?
Question: Is there any issues on having your shotgun microphone rotated 90 degrees if it's set on stereo? Like the right direction now would be on the top and the Left on the bottom? Or am I overthinking this? Thanks!
