Sitting here with a mk3 cabriolet and I don't feel like a loser LoL. I like the key entry and I also like the manual window opening :D - it is the charming part of having an old car
@@djkenny1202 same here: manual window (as mentioned above) manual shifting not even ABS or Airbag. Only electrical thing is actually the ECU (which is necessary at TDI engines) and I plugged the cruise controll on it. :D
Bruce Carbon Lakeriver mine os automatic. It was clean, garaged. So I went with it. Prefer a manual. Might do so next year. But great stereo. Needs a compressor for AC, but I might leave that alone (convertible). Was yours custom made as TDI? Sounds incredible! I thought abs and airbag was on all Cabrios?
@@djkenny1202 Nope mine is 100% stock and I've got one of the first series with the 'oldest' TDI engine (Motorcode 1Z) :D Sure a awesome condition is always something to make a deal on :)
I was looking into installing a viper alarm on my 98 GTI and was disappointed because I figured out that I would have to set a longer signal because of the vacuum system. I then stumbled on your video, and immediately bought a remote from eBay! I'm so happy now, thank you! Worked like a charm.
Thanks man! Awesome video, my brother actually just picked up one of these for my car today and gave it to me! I'm going to try and use one of the mk4 switchblade type key fobs and get a key made for it! Thanks for the help!
Great vid man!! I'm about to make a couple vids with my mk3 and definitely doin this!! Also I noticed you might be missing the rear pass door handle cover?? I have one you can have if you need 👌
Think I might have to do this, I'll see if I can get it to work with a MK7 key though. I know how to modify a MK2/3 key to fit in it, if the fob will work I'm totally doing it.
my jetta is a wolfburg edition 1999, it came with the whitebox but it seems like the OG owner lost the fob, sadly recently the alarm would go off by it's self and would not turn off. had to remove the alarm box and uhm... apperantly the OG owner had done some goofy stuff to the starter where it literally jumps over the clutch safe and straight up start the engine. yes. i can turn on my Jetta in gear, it sux sometimes but it saved me once when the starter got stuck and i was in a hill. ig y'all can imagine the rest.
Hey man u have one of these vw highline cabro I have that's been sitting up for a few years looking to get rid of it for 500 nothing wrong with it but it had body damage
Installed a module from a 98 tdi, went to do procedures and it beeps but doesn't respond to the aftermarket banjo remote, any thoughts? From what I've read thr fcc I'd numbers have to match but obviously not the case for universal or aftermarket remotes? Thanks
I have 1996 mk3 golf and I cannot insert my key to driver side but passenger side only. Driver side door can be only opened from inside by pulling the lock up. Will it work using the passenger lock and doing the same thing there?
@@fxdbeebe I'm based in the UK that's the only reason I asked as shipping can be a killer, but any help would be good just want to get this mod done on mine👌
hi, this is an awesome mod, exept it didnt work for me :(, well it did, kind of. i switched the black box for the white one, but as soon as i plugged it in, it started smoking. the alarm still works and it lets me start the relearn process, but it just doesnt connect to the new fob, im assuming something fried inside the box, was hoping maybe u could help me shed a light on what the issue might be. again thanks for the video/tip on the mod. id really to make this work.
I cant find that white box i only find the black bos and that partnumber but is that white box only in the us or also in germany? And can somebody pls help and maybe send an ebay link or the part number of the white box?
I have a white grill with the vr6 emblem on it if you want it’s for the Jetta I think it was given to me a long with a couple other parts but I don’t want it cuz mine car is black and it looks like shit... I’m also to lazy to paint so yeah
Bruh! My question is how do you lock the car! It works opening the doors and the trunk; but it wont lock the doors thrue the key operator button .. Any Light ill appreciate you🤟
@@DistinctTuning 👍Thankx for ur time & for your helpful vid. props✊! Well all functions on my car are gud; My main questionis, does you need to do the same process inn order to lock? If not ill stick with, maybe the buttom is gone!
My 99 silver arrow jetta has this we will have to do it to my sons 98. He might even have the right box. Unrelated question u might be able to shed some light on My gauge cluster has gone crazy where speedo and tach work periodically and same with gauges seems like it gets worse when u give it more rpms. I switched my cluster with my sons and still didn't work so I know the cluster is good any thoughts?
Pull the clustet and have all the sauder-points. Where the plug plugs into the motherboard there should be broken sauders resauder them and your good to go
@@karelvvv Karel , all MK3 had vacum pump , and the keyless works with that system , I have a 98 Golf mk 3 since new from the factory that came with keyless “banjo style” fob like in this video .
www.rclick.co.uk/shop/index.php for a cheap reliable solution with window up and down, sunroof, and back hatch lift, alarm set and disarm with a mk4 style fob, with a long range, and easy install.
