Watch as Paul and the ‪@HumbleMechanic‬ attempt to swap the 2.0t engine with a DSG transmission from a MK7 GTI into a MK3 Jetta. All this hard work is in service of building a modern day Fast and the Furious Jetta. The process of swapping this engine is a pretty big task. you can try disabling modules on the installation list on the gateway and coding the other modules to "forget", like when you retrofit something but in reverse

Now that you have figured out how to bypass the body modules it might be worth looking into producing some kind of wiring kit for an EA888 swap kit. There are a lot EA888s out there and a lot of old older VWs begging for engine upgrades.

Fueltech is developing a way to control the DSG, there is a youtuber called Diego Faustino that is building a turbo 4x4 vr6 with a DSG on it! Sound as crazy as swapping a mk7 into a jetta.. LOL brazilians are crazy

Right now we are putting Skoda Octavia 2.0 petrol engine and interior into Golf mk2. Engine,AC and everything under the hood is already connected. Dashboard is cutted to fit inside,all electric installations are inside from front to rear. In 2-3 days 1st start up is expected and work on interior begins

Waiiiit so essentially you made the harness standalone so it just sees switched 12V and a crank signal and it triggers on with no modules at all that’s crazy I’d think the ecu needs an immobilizer Signal via CAN or something but I was wrong I’m so hyped to see how this series goes!

It is not this easy in real life to bypass the immobilizer. The ecu must have been thru imo delete or something like that.

@@granveien38 Sorta, that’s with the assumption that it revives a data signal from the key attenta. With that it looks like the handshake between the key attenta is done through the body control module unit which than opens the circuit in the ecu to come on and run!

Oh, I hate the wiring job SO much... doing an engine swap in my Lexus LS nearly broke my mind, but I used the same method lol. Nice to know you don't actually need that much for that swap as I love the latest E888. I'd love one in a MKI Scirocco.

Man I’m excited for this series. This old Jetta makes me miss my manual 1999.5 white Jetta. I repaired most of the suspension and serviced everything on the drivetrain. Only reason I sold it was due to my wife not being able to drive a 5-speed. Positive spin on it was an upgrade to a MKV GTI w/ a DSG and a intake/tune. We at least until the camshaft went bad and caused the engine to rip itself apart 😒

I was planning on doing this to a 8P with the mk7 R motor. After some research I couldn't think of a way to make the mk7 protocols work with the pq35 protocols. Ended up swapping the EA888 to the EA113 CDL and just had to repin the ECU and run new grounds everywhere. Much easier 🤣🤣🤣

the car starts without the reader coil because its keyless ignition. That reader coil is mainly for if the key is fully dead, the antenna for recognising if key is in car is under the centre console in 2 places in the front and back

Love the build. Had a MK III Jetta K2 edition (1998) - totaled it in 2011 - but I kept all parts that were good & slowly used them over the years. This year I have started throwing the parts away. Already got rid of Complete sunroof/frame & back glass with defroster (sorry) But I have the complete rear seat - its black with red piping & the K2 logo across back. very good condition - minor fading on the top of the seat back due to sun. I also have the front fog lights. I have the headliner for Sunroof car, I have the right rear taillight & 1 headlight. I have the dash as well. If you would like any of these for your project and have a way to pick them up in Cincinnati you are welcome to them.

Best swap I ever seen in a jetta was a mitsibushi EVO 5 complete with its 4wd transmission. It took me 8 months to get it all running correctly and road legal. Then it got stolen from the car park at the hospital by a two guys with a recovery truck. Has never been found.

You don’t need under hood fuse panel from mk7 just need to have the power supply relay triggered by the engine control unit or wire in a resistor or a dummy relay, unless swapping it over is easier, the stock ecu wont fire injectors unless it sees the relay closing via the ground and power signal from the stock ecu

you do not need the j533 gateway module. take the can wires out and tie the corresponding high and lows together. you really should only need drive train can, and running can. you can test this by unplugging that red connector and jumping the 4 pins with 2 paper clips. good luck!

Actually this type of swap has been done in Croatia already. Once It was MK6 R engine in the MK1 with DSG, and now again MK1 ( its going to have Berg Cup Kit) but this time Seat Leon Cupra 2.0 TSI engine from 2019 or 2020, with DSG 7 ( and actually all things that are going with it including ACC, climate etc.)
