How else did you find out he's an insane guitrist then bro? He always had full creative freedom in the band and his riffs have always been bone smacking in Limp Bizkit.
Fuck that. Maynard is a lazy tool who's too busy running his winery now to put out music, and when he does it just sounds like more trimmings from the APC albums he put out 10 years ago.
followfornothing fun fact: Wes was offered a chance to be in A Perfect Circle and Nine inch Nails but went on to work on his band Black Light Burns instead.
That usually happens when a talented musicians keep playing on a musical genre that does not emphasize their instrument (Even when metal is about distorted guitars) . Look at John 5, he started having more recognition as guitarist once he did his solo project, but still keeps a low profile and many people doesn't know about him.
@@mandovid really it’s a lot of the nu metal/ industrial metal guys, which just got me thinking how ironic that nu metal has some of the most tasteful and reserved riffs and metal history lol
@@uniwertz True but as far as I recall the early 2000s, peopled liked LB because they were loud and in your face, and Wes Borland, because he was the crazy guy in a costume, not for his playing. Sure he had a big part in their sound with his creative playing and sick riffs but that went unnoticed for many people, they just wanted loud and offensive music you can blast out on your stereo.
@@DoNuT_1985 totally agree. People are just people. An ordinary listener is a mediocre musician^ he can only feel it. Costumes, millions of full stacks, fireworks, fake blood and glitter is a "music" language for ordinary people. On the flipside, unqualified (or untalented) musicians couldn't reach the minimum level of quality for streaming services.
literally the slightest bit of prog w distortion “oh it sounds like Tool it’s gotta be Tool it’s Tool” get real, y’all are disrespecting adam and wes at this point
Limp Bizkit gets a bad rap because of Fred. But the riffs were always top notch and Wes Borland could do things with heavy music that other bands couldn't pull off.
Wes is a good guitar composer, but LB sounds like LB mainly because of John and Sam, they cover lots of Wes' technique mistakes. He plays quite loose (becuase he can't play sharp) and there are a lot of things he should improve comparing to Paul Gilbert for example, but still he has his own place in music history
This is amazing. Hate to break it to the guitar snobs in the comments. No one cares about how “hard to play” or complicated a riff is. It’s about does it make you move, bob your head, can you feel the power of the melodic simplicity. That’s what Wes does so well. It takes more skill to write a simple good song people love then some bs noodling riff you think is great.
Yup as a former music/guitar snob I totally agree. The only people that care about the difficulty of a riff are other guitar players. There's definitely a market for insane guitar playing wankery, but most people want a song that gets them moving and conveys emotion. Writing a simple, fun, groovy riff (while remaining unique) is more impressive to me nowadays. I love dudes like Brandon Ellis that can shred like hell, dudes like Luc Lemay that can write schizophrenic, chaotic riffs, don't get me wrong. But there is something special to creating atmosphere and groove with simple riffs
+nroks wow Ive always said that but no one believes me. Wes and Adam have such similar playing styles which honestly is the only reason I still listen to LB
All those dissing wes for his playing haven't heard of Black Light Burns. And if polyrhytmic-odd timing riffs are the shit then stop listening to metallica or megadeth.Just saying.
I love Limp Bizkit as well. But BLB is just a whole new world.People just keep dissing him because they dont understand he is the guitarist of my ja ja generationn!!
Oh my god, there is so so so much specialist and talented people on youtube commentary... Nowadays, the new Elvis Presley, the new Mozart, is not playing music, no, it's for mediocre people: he's making commentaries about the lack of talent of other people.
@@gS0yeUE0udz7d Vincent C was talking about how all these commentors think they know better than actual musicians and just "know better" in general. Let's say those are the "haters," and I referred to the ultra-fanboy type, who would be the opposite and also in the comments. (Edit: I confused about what it is you're telling/asking me.)
I saw Limp bizkit last year at Aftershock festival, and yes they almost Stole the show. For some reason, they didn't play anything from new album, and if thay made a song with this Monster Riff , they would have definitely Stole the Show!!! 😮😮😊
Its a good riff, but I didnt see anything special like those riffs of page, dimebag, van halen, slash, mustaine or kirk do. But I like the riff though, I would not just call it a monster riff. 😆
eh. RIffs do not have to be technically complex to be a "monster riff". That's like comparing drum beats and saying that a jazz beat has nothing on a metal beat because the metal drummer has faster feet. It's different styles.
Love the riff! I'm going to sample it into a song. The best part about it is the timing.. Took me a second to keep rythm. If you don't understand what I mean tap your hand or foot along with him playing. Unless you're a musician it may be harder than you think! Also, I love meth.
uuuh, no.. the guitarist is not as bad as Fred Durst is, the guitarist is a beast but he's stuck in a band that thinks he's just a regular guitar player.
It’s cool, it’s def tool-y, cool timing. But is it weird that I’m just not really impressed by it? Kinda have a feeling Wes pooped out that riff to be like “oh you wanna riff? Sure, here ya go, now leave me alone.” Ha.
+Liam Early Fired? Fred Durst fired from LB? Seriously? Well, let's imagine Dave Mustaine fired from Megadeth or even better Jeff Waters fired from Annihilator? XD
+Liam Early fuck off clown shoes, why the hate for durst.the group fed off each other creatively and made some sick music and a spot in history.no durst,no awesome wes borland playing,he would still be in his fucking bedroom, same goes for durst, the bass player, the drummer, the cat with the mixer and turntables etc.they all make limp biskit fucking awesome.you dont like it,you are a fucking jackass, period dont judge a band based on the personal life of one of the members, that is fucking gay
Looky, looky here. Look what I found. OK, listen to this "A monster riff from Wes Borland". Then go listen to Mammoth WVH "Don't Back Down". Hmmm. It is interesting how music works out. I read a while back the WVH started demos of Mammoth WVH 8-10 years ago. Now I listen to this really BADASS riff and go "Wait a minute, I know I have heard that before". LMFAO.
He really should quit is actual "band". WIth the right people he could have a progressive metal band, that would be in a similar level as Tool! Not style-wise, for that we already have Tool, but also as well thought out, intuitively felt and on a "multidimensional" complexity with hauntingly deep and/or aggressive lyrics that benefit his style. "Motherfucker", "Yeah", "Shit" is the level of complexity with his current "band"..:(
