I wanted to catch up on all the goings on here on the ranch over the last few days, including a new calf and seeing what Dan's been up to. We'll also do some freeze-drying, and I let you know what I really think of owning a freeze-dryer. I hope you enjoy it!
Much love,
Chelsea

As a now city senior couple (whose parents did the vegetable gardening, but not to your scale), I admire you and your family for doing what you do! Great job, Chelsea and Dan and family on taking on such a wonderful piece of land and keeping it and all its rewards and the farm animals, produce, etc! I must say the bunkie and any other fun pieces of your land are priceless! So proud to be a fellow Canadian!

It’s been unusually colder and wetter here on Vancouver Island. Just a tip on calculating celcius to Fahrenheit…double the Celsius then add 32. It’s pretty accurate. For example, 10 Celsius is approximately 52 degrees Fahrenheit. 😉

If you put milk jug over your plants even in the day time it will help them grow it’s like a little green house all so if you will put some blood Meal on your plants it would help a lot to fertilize and feed them used coffee grounds will help

I can appreciate my own much easier life but know if I were younger, I would be working that hard also. Somehow it doesn't seem as much like work as it does just daily life. How wonderful for you and Dan, now retired, that he has time to work on your dream homestead. It's a good feeling to stand back and know you guys have created this amazing place to live and raise your family. I love hearing all your growing tips and info but so sorry the weather is not cooperating. In Mich we have around 90 degree temps for over a week and one of my tomato plants is dropping flowers. (the week prior had a couple 45 temps at night!) Don't you have like 10 cats already? (Never enough cats!) More Poppy please!

Everything with what you are doing is so exciting. I was so worried when you were making the decision of stay or not. And so happy you chose stay. Love love love everything. Baby cow is so sweet. Are the freeze dried bananas really hard as they are in a dehydrator? Or a little lighter? Kitten breaks are always necessary in life 💕hugs and luv
