I’ve never heard someone say ALL the things I have felt these past 2 years. I have struggled so much with my faith since the birth of my daughter. I kept praying that he take away this pain, but now I realized I need him to change my heart.

It must be terrifying to give birth to a child who has such complex problems. I can't truthfully say I could cope. Randi's reaction is fully understandable. It was a joy to see her building such a special relationship with Moses. He is absolutely beautiful. I wish them a great life.

hey. As someone with a disability, i just wanted to say that disabled is not a bad word, and using special needs is euphemistically stigmatizing.

Being a parent is difficult. Being a parent of a disabled child is extremely difficult. We don’t love our children less because we express how hard it is or because we feel grief for what our child will go through for the rest of their life? Grief is a natural phase that all parents of disabled children will go through at some point (because they love them and didn’t want anything bad to happen to them)

Your and Moses' souls touched. This is an example of how our Heavenly Father, our Creator, created us in the image of God! It's about unconditional love and relationship! God put in flesh and dwelt among us, which is Jesus, who shows us by his example, how to love one another. ❤ Way to go other parents also learning to love unconditionally! 👍🏽

This child will never be able to live without a caregiver. That kind of medical support is expensive, so she will spend the rest of her life caring for him. It is mentally exhausting to loose autonomy over your life like that, and until you’re in this situation, I wouldn’t judge.

Anyone considering having a child should factor in that disability and special needs is a possibility. That doesn't make it any easier should it come to pass, but I think assuming that your child will be perfectly healthy at birth is a mistake.

Pain for everyone involved. I know a lot of disabled people, some who were disabled as kids. The rejection of a parent over disability is enough to put people in therapy, at a minimum. Others didn't get diagnosed until later in life, which meant that their lives were much harder. Parents trying to insist their disabled kids aren't disabled makes things harder for the kids, and has life long effects.

@liorsmith

So... you think just because a child is disabled, they don't deserve a parent, and their parent shouldn't even try to take care of them? Are you the sort of person who would leave their spouse if they became disabled, and forget 'in sickness and in health'?

She hasn't been in a Stomp cast for years and years. She's an intellectual property attorney for one of the divisions of Meta (FKA Facebook). I looked it up because I was also curious about how in the world she could be managing this financially. For the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with being curious about something like that. Most people would be in financial ruin trying to raise three kids (apparently alone) at all, let alone when one of them has a severe disability and needs specialized care. Also, her house doesn't appear particularly large or new but it's obviously been very nicely renovated. That's expensive. People notice things and just wonder sometimes.
