i always daydreamed of an au where either dream or nightmare didnt exist and one of them inherited nim's role as the guardian of feelings, glad someone made an au close to it!

Poor Killer in this, jeez. Completely alone in his timeline, and now everyone in this room hates him for something he's never done, and also the guy he fell in love with likes someone else. Like... wow. Poor lil scrunkly.

I feel like this Dream could be shipped with Ink. Since like this, even if Ink no longer have his vials, he may still be able to feel. You could have a plotline of the Creators abusing Ink a lot back in the Doodlesphere and Ink at some point, had enough and escaped in a random AU (which would happen to be Dreamtale) and cried his eyes out. (the tattoos could actually be scars from the abuse instead) and Dream felt Ink's feelings (which may even have been odd due to coming from something that isn't a soul). He found Ink when going to the source of those feelings and saw how badly injured he was. Ink may have been scared of him and of possible punishment, since he isn't supposed to be seen and Dream would have tried to calm him down and treated him, listening to his tale. You can argue that if the Creators are gods, then Ink is an angel (as in a being meant to serve the gods), so Dream may have made Ink his angel instead, creating with the apples (1 golden and 1 black) a soul for him and keeping him by his side. Ink became loyal to Dream and served him well, in his free time, continuing to do artistic stuff of all sort, which entertained Dream too. ... But at some point, Ink stops showing Dream some of the drawings he made, because Ink is slowly starting to grow romantic feelings for Dream and starts to doodle him more often, which he is embarrased about, especially because he knows that Dream is worried of people using him, and in a way, Ink is using him to have feelings and a soul, so he feels like he isn't worthy. So, you could have a Ink who is pinning (possibly really hard) but thinks he isn't worth Dream and should be satisfied with simply serving him for the rest of their immortal life. Whether Dream is being obvious (because he respect Ink's privacy and doesn't feel his emotions) or aware but doesn't say anything, maybe because he doesn't return the feelings or thinks Ink is mislead on his emotions since Dream is like, the only person he knows who is kind to him, can be up to interpretation. ... Damn, how did I came up with all that just on the spot...?
