Ordered the same. Looks cheap unfortunately. You can't use dummy battery due to the construction of ots bottom. The left side is blocked for mic and headphones, you can slide it buy loosen two screws, but the screws are cheap and badly made, but it's not the thing. The thing is that when you adjust the plate to fit the mic input, you will not able to use the HDMI port. The whole body is moving and wobble a bit even when the main screw is tighten well. So, I made some thin stickers to the bottom to reduce wobbliness, on the top side of the left part there are also some tape applied

Can't do full rotation of screen nvm, promedia gear looks like the way to go.

Yes, the ProMediaGear allows you to fully rotate the screen however, I purchased the grip solely for the extension under the grip for my pinky to rest on it. This allows more of a surface for grip. PMG does not have that as their plate stops right before the battery door.

Do you still sell these? The link in bio doesn’t work

I am not the manufacturer. eBay has them. Click the link in description. If you want this exact one, add "peipro" to the search. It all comes from China.

Hey. It looks like they make a thinner version now. Would you still recommend this bracket? And would you also suggest now getting the thinner one?
@1KINDPhotography
@1KINDPhotography 3 года назад
I think I saw the thinner version. I think the regular one is just perfect. It gives me a little extra room to move my hand/pinky. It also depends on the size of your hands. If you're a big person, the regular would be best. If you have small hands, where you need just a smidge more height, the thinner would probably be fine

I’m looking at it for more of an Arca Swiss plate that covers edge to edge. So maybe thinner would mean easier battery door access? Just wish Amazon still carried them!

@@ericgrayphoto thinner may mean easier access to the battery door. I prefer to worry more about the fit. I have very short nails so it's harder for me. My wife had no issues. I just use a coin, key, credit card or anything I have on me just to help

Thanks for the review. Looks like there are better alternatives out there. Not a fan of the issues you had getting the battery out and I have seen reviews of other L-plates which allow better screen rotation. All personal preferences obviously but at least I know I will pass on this one.

There are definitely other alternatives out there is you're looking for an L-bracket. My purchase was solely for the extension grip which I haven't seen many. The L-brackets I've seen stop short of the battery door. I took off the side plate on mine. My nails are too short and I have fat fingertips, so I have issues trying to open the battery door. My wife doesn't have any issues.

Can't use the dummy battery with it

I have doubt how this will hold up in portrait mode with heavier lenses like 28-70 F2. There are just too many screws and joints on it at portrait mode.
@1KINDPhotography
@1KINDPhotography 2 года назад
Peipro is a popular 3rd party brand. 28-70 isn't that heavy. If you were talking about a 600mm... different story but it'll still hold but you would be using the tripod food on the lens and not from the body. This is aluminum and not plastic, so it will hold up to the weight. I've used it with 70-200 and no issues.

@@1KINDPhotography thanks for the clarification. yeah, 600mms would it's own lens mount. I am basically looking for a good arca plate not necessarily L-bracket. The plate I have now gets the job done but it flexes little bit with a heavy lens. It's probably not a big deal but kind of gives me a worry that the mounting screw has too much strain on it (can cause issues to the camera body over long term) I like this Peipro one because this plate supports the entire bottom side of the camera instead of 1 square inch area which helps for strain from flexing.
@1KINDPhotography
@1KINDPhotography 2 года назад
@@shaikhahmed7929 I like this because like you said, it covers the entire bottom of the camera which also gives you more room for the pinky. Not to mention, it'll sit flat and steady. No wobble.

I take it you can't flip out the screen and tilt at the same time?
@1KINDPhotography
@1KINDPhotography 3 года назад
With the L-bracket you are limited in movement. You'd need to tilt and adjust your screen before pushing it completely out because the L-bracket gets in the way.

Helpful. All the brackets I have looked at have pros and cons. If using the L feature in portrait mode, can you use a manual shutter release? Also, is it heavy? Keeping the weight down is something I need. Thank you.
@1KINDPhotography
@1KINDPhotography 3 года назад
@@andreagardner2335 the L-bracket allows you to slide it out so it's further from the camera. This let's you attach any cables while still putting the camera in portrait mode on a tripod. As for the weight, any item will have some weight but once it's on the camera, you'll barely notice it. It's not like you're carrying a second lens.
