I was there mid December for 4 days. My gf got me hooked on the grilled honeycomb (Lam poong) strange but lovely. I noticed that there were hardly any farang there, it was 99% Asians, which was nice. Loving ya channel Wayne. Keep it up mte👍

Hi Wayne, I enjoyed your video of Mae Kampong. I was there in February and want to go back and spend more time in the area. It's so beautiful. I love the lady who dances while grilling. Maybe some day I will find out who she is so I can send her a t shirt from New York. Great village and fun people!

Thank you buddy! It's a great little village. Overrun with tourists sometimes but it's a great area. I remember the woman dancing 🤣. Thais are always so happy and having a laugh and joke. If I go back to Mae Kampong soon, I'll find out her name 👍

Yes, we rode up there last year. Have a CBR300R, two up,have never been in first gear for so long. Fun ride though!

Always enjoyed the rides up there, any time of year. Some great coffee shops around. Just a tad tired of the selfie tourists standing in the middle of the road though.

Nice one Wayne. Mae Kampong is an absolutely magical spot. Definitely a place worth a visit. 100 Baht may have seemed a bit much for the Dutch farm but I knew it was worth it when you sat in the huge Dutch shoe. I know how much you love a good arsh clog... 😂 No comment on the sheep mate. Take it easy.

Thanks for information Wayne🙏 On the last day of January I will go to visit Mae kampong I have planned to stay 3 days I could see that the road is quite narrow and with quite a rise I'm going to with car😅 Afterwards I plan to go up to another village called Chae Son not far from Mae kampong

Thanks! Mae Kampong is worth going, I really like the village. The roads are very very steep and narrow. Many cars go up though, so you should be fine. I've been to Chae Son also. Have a great time.

It will be cooler, but not sure by how much. Mae Kampong is always busy but less so in the summer months.

Farmers used to burn the stubble in the UK 20 or 30 years ago then they realised the benefit of incorporating it back in to the ground has and now they shred it fine during harvest and harrow it back in. It will be the same here in the next 10 years. We've been in Chiang Mai ten days now and are staying until 9th January. We're having a great time. We followed a couple of your suggestions and did the white bridge and red tunnel ride and also went in to the national park. We're off to Pai on 3/4/5th Jan for a few days. We will certainly take a ride out to Mae Kampong this week. Where do you recommend we go for new year's eve? I had heard the Tha Phae Gate was the place to be to welcome in the new year?

Hi Mike, I'm not so sure about here with the burning mate, but let's hope something happens in the future. Glad to hear your having a great time in Chiang Mai, the Bridge and tunnel is a great day out. I'm sure you'll love Pai also. Yes, the gate will be one of the best spots for New Year. They also have a big event outside Central Festival also. I always find around the gate the best though. Have a great time guys Thanks

The smoke from burning off - Sugar cane can be harvested without burning (Australia does) not sure about rice paddies/fields but i'm sure there is a solution, how hard would it be for the Gov to investigate other practices ie Japans rice fields etc etc, a lot of farmers (worldwide) are stuck in their ways - just the way its been done for a long time. Nice spot up there in the Mountains, Ladies were not too shabby at all.

Yes, very true mate, the burning could be done in a different way 100%. As you mentioned, changing years and years of doing things is the hard part. Village was great, the eye candy was on point 👌👌

Thanks for the walk-about Wayne, I remember going through Kampong over 2 decades ago and there not being much at all worth stopping for other than the scenery, so maybe a the tourist traps have been a net benefit? Btw, At 29:50 and 15:45 I hit the 1.25X playback speed when you had music over the B-Roll clips and I liked it pepped things up, in a fun way. Might give it a look and see what you think.

@@WalkAboutWayne My intent was not to suggest you do a Hollywood car commercial, but as someone who warche a lot of travel suggest something that might set your videos apart, and possibly having a bit of fun with faster paced interludes might be something to change things up, and provided links to my buddy's old car commercials as an example of faster pace.

Hi Dave, yes they have made it harder to open bank accounts now. My advice would be, try all the small branches on the outskirts of town, or better still, pay an agent. Good luck 🤞
