“We wanted the space to be cozy and encased in white oak, but also feel modern and not too rustic” says designer Lisa Kooistra, who wanted to bring a feeling of nature to her clients’ Rosedale home in Toronto. See how she brought this warm wood into every room while maintaining a fresh and contemporary style.

Sophisticated fusion of West Coast and Scandinavian design. Upscale features while still remaining family-friendly. Fantastic layout for entertaining. The incredible craftsmanship of the contemporary millwork makes the design cohesive. Beautiful!!

I like the idea behind this but I think the issue is that all the wood is one color. It’s like the wood version of an all White House.

Personally, I love it. ❤❤❤ I feel it's almost mid century inspired, but of course, with a modern take on it. Almost a modern cabin if you will. Anyway, if the client loves it, then you knocked it out of the park 🎉🎉🎉 ...also, I would love to know where the dining chairs are from ❤❤❤

Absolutely stunning! I love the west coast inspiration - and the wood combined with modern accents. The kitchen and dining space is my favourite - the island dining and bench seating are so fun and creative. What a beautiful home!

The usage of wood is too much.. i think in the next 4-5 years the house will look outdated ..

I would have used nicer wood fournir with different shades and tainted dark glass and white marble like counters/ tables. I've seen such an interior a couple months ago and it looked very harmonious, modern and timeless.

I am interested in knowing how they cover the big windows and glass door for privacy and security? Also, at night the chandelier in the dinning room will make them absolutely light-up to the street and vulnerable.

Really smart use of space. I love the entryway. I think this may look a bit dated with all that wood. I love white oak, but you need to know when enough is enough. For right now though….i am an absolute fan. Love it. The staircase though….not a fan….definitely gone too far there……already looks dated and doesn’t give the space room to ‘breathe’.

House & Home show beautifully deigned homes, but I'd really like to see something other than white oak, white walls with black accents. It feels like designers are simply copying each other and/or the clients are afraid or simply want the current trend. I'm not blaming anyone, it's just that so many of these designs feel interchangeable. I'd love to see designs with more personality and colour.

I really liked the shelves and the cool shapes. Unique and grabs your attention. It was offset by too much wood tone, and the color scheme was giving 2020 Jysk furniture style. Needed a little more personality and decor.

I don't know why, but to me the white oak has a yellow tone. The shelves that you have used are a bit office like, if they really love nature they should put more green plants on those shelves. The amount of wood paneling makes it look like an office and lacks personality
