Hey arctic cat. There are still a lot of owners of first gen wildcats. Don’t stop making parts and engines for them. They haven’t even been off the market that long.
Im guessing it will be very stout! And that's from a Doo guy. With Yamaha dropping out,we need to support the remaining 3 regardless of loyalty as it would really suck to be down to 1-2 manufacturers IMO
Id try one, Im done with Polaris for now. Id like to see how this compares, also the suspension. The Walker Evans shocks is a HUGE let down. Hopefully CAT has these Fox shocks and Springs better figured out.
So from what I heard at haydays, this engine uses the same bore, but a different stroke. So does that mean they can reuse the cylinders from the 800? Assuming that the crankcase makes up for the additional piston throw?
Well I have seen the 800 go against the 850s and it was not behind in other than cc so maybe the 858 is going to be good but was hoping for just a factory turbo just to get a head
@duckdestroyer2412 turbo two strokes have been around alot longer then that lol 😆, other brands had to make a 850 to get up to cats 800 hp back then , been riding a ascender 800 turbo and nothing comes close to touching it. Realist 🤣
@FarminWithaSubie turbo from the factory is what I meant. Aftermarket counts about as much as their claims of 11% more horsepower of the anywhere between 145-160 horsepower 800 ctec engine.
@@MikeMFnJones1 just something to make a big splash. To say cats back. Im sure the 858 rips, im sure it will probably be pretty reliable but its still basically where the others were 5 years ago. Imagine if skidoo or polaris brings out a 900 or 1000 in the next year. Cats behind. Again.
@@FrederickMercier-jy9tt what is the model in the trail sleds that has a 900? Not a polaris guy, if this exists id like to check it out. I didn't see it on website?
I love all of the comments about no turbo. Sure I won’t beat you to the top the first time. But the second time I’ll be at the top and the turbo sleds will be in the shop.
I've got almost 7,000 miles on my 1100 turbo and have never had a single issue with it. I know those 850 Polaris 2 stroke turbos have had issues though
@@brianf9340 yeah no the cat and Yamaha 4 stroke turbos are great. I was really talking about the horrible reliability with turbo 2 strokes. And every brand sucks with reliability with 2 stoke Turbos. That’s why I don’t understand why people want them so badly
@@CCH-R I totally agreed with your comment on why 2 stroke guys want a turbo, until i jumped on my buddies 850 turbo freeride. It's unreal the difference.
Does it honestly matter? I remember when cat had 8 classes of engine. 370 440 500 600 700 800 900 1000....all in one year. Thats like saying because KTM dirtbikes make a 300cc two stroke and no other brands do, they all suck.
@KTMsoldier1988 i think it does matter in such a small/niche sport and industry. You have to be leading or different to stand out. Cat was so late to the part to update their procross, a new engine should have been a must. Like 900 or 1k.
@@timtorkelson7201 gain a bit on bottom end response MAYBE, but definitely no huge improvement over the oem. Plus the oem handle boost very well, these will not. Never tried the boyesen rage cage setup.
@@jackhiggins4971 haha do you understand 191 at the crank no did not think so 600 rods 700 pistons 900 crank ok so before you call me out maybe find out what has been done
