The reason the tc15 has such a high output is because it doesn’t have a tail switch. I believe that the tail switch accounts for voltage drop.

No way that is running on turbo for that long a runtime. It will have stepped down to high mode after a few minutes in order to prevent the LED from overheating.

I have the m5 model also and use it to take my dog walking. On full power 1300 lumens its hot as hell in 5 min. It brings the lumens down if u leave it on around an hour. After an hour it dims to half strength. It recharges fast but doesnt run 1300 lumens for an uninterrupted 2.5 hrs thats for sure. And it takes the switchback 2.0 by Thyrm which is perfect.

Thanks for the review Tim! For me tail cap or side switch doesn't matter to me. I want high Lumen. Several Olights were my entry into EDC flash lists and I have found that I really dislike the magnetic base on flashlights! A lot! Owner a commercial and industrial construction company I find I actually use and depend on higher Lumen lights. For me 1000 is the minimum for me. I use my Thrunight TC15 daily. My next go to is eithe my EastShine 1000 Lumen ( I think it's actually brighter than the advertised 1000) or my Nitecore GT-12 1000 Lumen.

Had me up to the proprietary charging port... I NEED (I didn't say WANT) to carry as few charging cables as possible. The TC15 is still the bomb for me. Thanks for a look at this light however.

You obviously haven’t seen the 2019 PowerTac catalog where they say that this M5 will come out with a magnetic tail cap variant (except no tail cap clicky). Next gen E5 and E9 rechargeable versions look like they will have both magnetic and USB-C charging capabilities.

Bought a 750 lumen flashlight that throws further and outputs better than that for $20. Problem is works when it wants. Pretty dangerous when hunting a boar in the bush at night. Which of these lights has been most reliable for you?..Thanks

I've had the E5 and E9 for about 5 years. Nothing wrong with this company. I think it's an underrated company. I tied a piece of paracord to my e9 and hung it off the side of the boat, in the water. I used it like a floating light all night. That was 3 years ago.

You need to read the ansi flashlight testing. They can claim a runtime as long as the light is still outputting like 10% of the original output. So as long as the light stays above 130 lumens. It's still running at "turbo "

there is no way that tiny little flashlight with no heat sinks runs at 1300 lumens for 2+ hours. i am certain it steps down at some point. physics!

Especially since the 1300 output is only slightly less run time than the 400 output run time. Not just physics..... common sense

I have no idea, other than spitting deer, for whagI would use a 1300 lumen flashlight. It's too bright for most of my uses. I don't need to blind myself looking for my keys and or changing a tire. I prefer something between 60 to 100 lumens.

Do you notice a slight delay after pressing the tail switch before the light comes on? My new m5 does this, not sure if it’s normal.

I have several powertac lights including this one. I've given several as gifts. They're good lights. My complaint with them is this. Their customer service stinks. Severely. I won't buy another powertac. It's unfortunate because I like them.
