You can just close the game. You dont have to fully reset everytime

No need to reboot, you can quit in the menu much quicker. Besides, there are other operating systems that are a bit better like muOS or Knulli. One neat feature with the former is 64-bit Portmaster support, so among others you can play Stardew Valley. Neat that you review these devices, but you need to get into them more deeply to get the most out of them. Edit: muOS boots way faster too.

Personally I like that it is thicker than the original. Not only does it make the device more comfortable to hold, but it allows the battery to be larger so we can play for longer. The reason it has a power button instead of a power switch is so that it can do a proper shutdown of the OS instead of just cutting power to the system. The Powkiddy V90 is another GBA SP like retro handheld, and it does have a switch. But it requires you manually return to the settings page of the main menu, tell the device to shut down, and then you can switch it off (otherwise you are likely to corrupt the file system). If those are the options, then I prefer the power button design used by the RG35XX SP.

You don't have to power cycle it every time you exit a game.

Does anyone know how to reinstall the stock firmware? I tried downloading it from Anbernic but the file isn't working. MuOS and Knulli still have a ways to go

i already got the clear purple anbernic device awhile back, but man if they had this version out 1st i would have gone for this GBA SP version!

I really want one of these, but a portable MiSTer is being worked on so I really should wait for that one

Holding down the power button is better I wouldn't like risking switching it on accidentally when sliding it into a pocket.

Got mine recently, spent too much time trying to set up a new OS - take my advice and just stick with the stock and play through retroarch

I find that ps1 and GBA are the systems that I like playing on this the most so far. I also like the buttons on this device for the most part. I played through Kim Possible Revenge of Monkey Fist and Gunstar Super Heroes already and I am currently going through Pokemon Leaf Green and Final Fantasy 9.

Getting mine tomorrow. The portability won me over. My only problem with it, is how long it takes to turn on.

I’ve spent the week or so since I got mine playing around, testing stuff, and setting up my library. I got the blue one (*low key regret not getting the silver*) and I’ve been really enjoying it so far. Definitely some compromises for the new consoles but they usually work alright. PSP has some games that run rough, but a lot run perfect. Imo, you need to stretch PSP, it’s just too small of a window otherwise. It looks alright and isn’t super noticeable to me being stretched. Dreamcast has some texture issues, where parts of textures in some games will disappear occasionally. Never so much that it’s an issue but def a compromise. DS you need to switch back and forth between the screens for most games (ex. Pokémon, you’re going to be swapping screens a lot in battles to see your move selection). N64 starts w/ the parallel core which runs A LOT worse than Muppen, which you should switch to immediately. Otherwise it’s good, outside of needing to hit power to swap between analog and d pad.

Put MuOS on it, it's easy to do boots in 12 seconds and runs really well, much better than Anbernics OS. Mine is running perfect with it.

Loud buttons is the main reason I skipped this one and bought 28xx instead. Sure it may be fine if you are alone at home playing, but when you are on a train or mcdonalds then people will definitely like you much less than they would like you if you were playing miyoo mini instead 😅

Imagine making an almost perfect copy of GBA and not provide a screen with good integer scaling... :(

I actually like the thicker design I have big hands and the people complaining about the button sounds are grossly exaggerating the issue and are just being completely picky about it there is nothing wrong with them.

I tried the controls with the dome switches on the backbone one controller and I absolutely don't like them because they tire the fingers and have horrible tactile feedback. Anbernic is famous for its conductive membranes which are wonderful, is famous for its amazing controls, the company wouldn't have never had to use dome switches, wrong choice, don't buy it because 97% of you won't like it!

these are always interesting to watch.i dont want or need these tho, i just slap a stereoscopic controller on my mobile phone and BOOM.a powerfull retro gaming handheld with an amazing screen!
