My compliments to Chris Heintz for "designing the Zenith 701 just for me, all those years ago". It is a perfect fit and is proving to be an amazingly capable aircraft over and over again every time I fly/test it. Unfortunately, I was not able to meet Chris to thank him in person, but he really seemed to design the 701 as an extension to myself and my type of fun flying.
Anyway, there are lots of questions about this new Super701ZR concept, so here is a very brief video comparing the basic size difference between the standard Zenith 701 and this new Super701ZR.
Building on the robust and proven design, the modified Super701ZR will be narrower, shorter, lighter, capable of an even higher angle of attack, and because of these things, hopefully it will be a little more sporty with better overall performance.
The ultimate goal of this design is to be lighter, slower, faster, and even higher performance than the original 701.

I am glad someone is actually experimenting, solid rivets on that tailcone also the wing extension that papa Chris designed, rockie dog beanie mod. The triangle flaperon thingy gotta go. Subscribed just to see this one.

John, i have been following you a while. i noticed you are using the 750 longerons. I'm building a 701 and have thought about using those. I think it would make the fuselage look a lot better. This project should be interesting!

Hey Jon, Will this new design 701 be a single seat? I have ordered a 701 kit. Picking it up at the open hanger event in September. Hope to see yours then.

Hey John... I've been following you on you tube for a while and didn't know that you were building another Zenith ( much less two ) ! I smell a serious STOL drag contender to "Represent" the nose dragging community! Thanks for the update and Blue Skies!

Morning Jon I've been following your videos and build with interest - particularly your comments about UL Power. I'm building a CH750SD and haven't decided on an engine as yet. I'm leaning towards the UL520iST (turbo) - other than the price I think it would be perfect for the 750SD. Have you decided which engine you'll install in your SD?

Haven’t locked it down yet, but very seriously considering the 520iST for my SD also!

@@TNFlyingFarmer Your cowling and paint appear very professional - do you mind sharing with me who built the cowling as it appears to have serious consideration for cooling which is a concern of mine with the 520iST going low and slow in Arizona.

I appreciate that. I did the cowling and paint. Lots of thought went into it, but honestly, some luck played into the cowling working out so good too. It took three attempts, but this cowl was my first venture into composites and it was a terrible 1st job! I said that I’d never do it again, but will probably have to build my next cowls from scratch also. 😳

@@TNFlyingFarmer Ray at Kaolin Aviation says he can build the fuselage for the 520iST on a CH750SD in either fiberglass or carbon fiber. He got a SD firewall from Roger so he can experiment.

Have you looked at the ICP Savannah (started out as a 701 copybut now very different) for some ideas?

Well that just makes my ask a whole lot more questions. Will you some how mate this to your existing front fuselage, or are you developing a new narrow front. Make it a narrow, light single seat STOL monster. Looking forward to more videos about this build. Thanks for the video.
