One might argue that the heart of modern civilization, its supreme fetish, is the notion of the individual. The independent self. The liberal rationalist self. Cut off from ecological relations, pixelated within a flattened space designed for human social experiments, the individual crystallizes modern notions of linear time, political projects around identity, anthropocentric ideas about agency, and specific inoculatory notions of care and wellbeing.

If we are to take seriously notions of entanglement and ecological imbrications, how do we come to see identity? What might this mean for democracy, for our understanding of our roles as temporality-makers (instead of just inhabitants of fixed, monolithic time), for the Anthropocene, and for the future?
